If a story turns out to be progressive or conservative it can be great. But if starts out trying to be either it will suck big donkey toes. I don’t understand why anyone would want to see things of that nature. Im a naturally empathetic person though. I can’t stand to see people, or any creature really, in pain. This trailer alone made me feel sick and it makes me think that humans in every aspect are too far gone, too far removed from our natural environment, desensitized to everything we naturally should be repulsed by, and too disconnected with other people to advance in any way other than technologically. But hey if you enjoy it I really can’t judge. Some people just like the creativity of it I guess.
I struggle to truely enjoy Cronenberg’s films but I appreciate that he always has a point to make. His film are articulate, intelligent and well acted. I do find him a very clinical, sober and uncompromising director. I find his films in general cold, distant and difficult to connect with but I cannot deny he is a master of his craft. I’ll always watch his films and appreciate them but have never felt it to be a pleasant experience…..something I think he intends. His warmest film emotionally for me was the Fly…..and that had inverted Gibbons(?) and a guy having appendages melted off. Go figure
I will never watch his movies,never..Only watched fly. From what i have seen i have to say we have to respect his mastery of his craft...a sensational filmmaker
I'm more excited for this than I've ever been for a movie. I can't believe it has been since ExistenZ since we have had some Cronenberg body horror, but also for me it's not about the gore or sexuality. David Cronenberg has always had something to say and I have found that what he usually has to say reflects our culture more than we may like or feel comfortable with.
If you're a Cronenberg fan, you're a Cronenberg fan, and this has Cronenberg written all over it! From Naked Lunch, eXistenZ, Videodrome, to the Fly and Scanners, they're mind bending movies that challenge, amaze and leave a lasting impression. I find it harder to watch gruesome stuff as I get older and since becoming a dad (I don't know something just changed in my constitution LOL), but I'll make an exception for this. He does sci-fi horror in a way that makes the unknown so exciting and terrifying, in a kind of Lovecraftian way!
Yep. I was looking forward to seeing this tomorrow. Though after seeing 'MEN' last weekend I realize its time to take a break from this kind of shit again! (Being a father really does that to you)
