Welcome back for another Game of Thrones and A Song of Ice and Fire video. In this video, I will be talking about HBO's new official announcement. Earlier today, HBO revealed the lead actors for their new Game of Thrones Prequel Series about Dunk and Egg. As you all know, HBO is developing another Game of Thrones series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight. The HBO series is based around the characters Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire, Egg, featured in the “Tales of Dunk and Egg” novellas written by George R.R. Martin. Peter Claffey has been cast as Dunk, while Dexter Sol Ansell has been cast as Egg. The series is set to begin filming in only six weeks! According to HBO, the Dunk and Egg series will release on HBO Max in 2025.

Can MyHeritage prove I'm supposed to be 1/8th Cherokee Indian? My Great Grandmother wouldn't sign the India Roles, had 1 sister, and claimed to be Cherokee Indian according to my Aunt and Birth Mother. I have recently started to wonder if she was really from a different tribe and just wanted to sever the ties.

I would say you are right. I wish GRRM would focus and knock it out. But from the sounds of it he is kept busy and working on something. I just think HBO is a better channel whenever there is a GRRM show on. I love HotD!!

Said it 1000 times. Do a mini series for dunk and egg. One now. One a 3-5 years from now. Use different actors for them too if you want. I would prefer that to them making up stories for George RR Martin and screwing up this opportunity. I DO NOT WANT MARVEL OR STAR WARS HAPPENING TO THIS!
I feel like this is gonna end up being another GoT scenario. George won't have written the next book by the time they get through the three main short stories

I am just glad we are getting Dunk and Egg. Some people would whine and cry if they weren’t doing it but then complain about something else when it’s announced. I bet life sucks when all you find is the negative in any situation.

The casting is solid so far imo, I cannot wait to see the actors who are gonna play the other characters (particularly Bloodraven). The Dunk and Egg books are just superb, and seeing the story coming to life is a dream come true.

@@MightyMeegoshhe wasn’t, the first novella made it pretty clear that Baelor Breakspear is current HoTK and protector of the realm. Bloodraven is HoTK during the second and third novellas

Dunk and Egg are such good stories. GRRM is getting up there in age and his health could catch up to him, he’s already over a decade late on Winds of Winter and that has got to be eating him alive lol.
Like GRRM said, he's worrying about that tomorrow, and we all know tomorrow never comes. Everyone hold their breath. Now you can see it in your minds eye. Nope, He will never finish it.

I can’t wait for the dunk and egg. Just seeing the 2 characters got me excited. It’s like they just fit in like they were who you imagined. I’m ready to see more Westeros where you can’t wait to see the next episode like the original GOTs. I sure didn’t get that from HODs from the time I seen the characters up to seeing the episodes. I never raced to see next episode like I did GOTs it just didn’t do it for me with all the changes, but after seeing the 2 characters for dunk and egg they look perfect. Nice to feel excited again
Breakfast lunch and dinner will be when we get 3 shows a year spring summer and a long cold winter LFG!!

I just read the Dunk and Egg book 1, and i never knew about it before i heard about the series. It is very good, maybe little happier then GOT, and it is going to be fun
Dragons died out by dunk and egg's time so a season per year is definitely doable. The Egg actor will age out of his role if they take too long.
I also considered them switching him out at some point

GRRM is never finishing another book for the asoiaf universe so we’re going to have to live through these shows to feed our soul

That first story is best suited for a movie. Good short story perfect to adapt for a 2 hr film. In fact, the entire Dunk & Egg series would better fit the film format

I'm not worried about Duncan's height since they do need to be able to film him next to a literal child. Maybe they will do that illusion from the lord of the rings with Frodo and Gandalf in the cart.
Uhmm... but Peter Claffey is actually 5' 7 not 6 '4, Sir Duncan the tall, had "the tall" in his name for the same reason Sir Gregor was nicknamed the Mountain, how tall and imposing they are physically, is kind of a big part of their personality, they need at least a 6'7 type actor.
Peter claffey is actually 6’5 or 1.96m tall. They’ll never find an actor that’s taller than that

ive always pictured Tom Hopper the guy who played "Dickon" in GOT and Luther in umbrella academy as Dunk when i read the books...and Calliou as Aegon lmaooooooo

I Couldn't possibly care less about HOTD. I literally skip Dany chapters when I re-read AsOIAF. Hate The Targs, Dragons are still ghey, etc. except for little Egg, he rules. This is more my speed.

Why does Sir Duncan y’all get a show when he wasn’t the best knight ever, I’d rather see Ser Author Dane. He was supposed to be the greatest knight to ever be in the show.

No I don't, they had time, resources and budget to make it right, at least full 10 episodes season 7 and 8.
Not really excited about this show. It might in the end be a good one of course, but based on the knowledge of the history of Westeros of that period, you wouldn't expect much of the epic, wars, large-scale conflicts, dragons etc, the reasons why we got to love the original show and HotD.
That was not the reason. It was the intelligent conversations, the humor and most of all the incredible complexity.
