- On today's episode of Homeworthy, we're in Boston visiting the home of Whitney Talsma, the founder and lead designer of Oliver James Interiors. Whitney and her family live in a charming 1814 federal-style farmhouse that boasts incredible historic charm and beautiful gardens. She has made an effort to add her own personal design touches while celebrating the original details of the home. Whitney loves hunting for vintage furniture and decor at antique shows and flea markets, blending these pieces with newer items for a lived-in look with stories to tell. Enjoy!

One of my all time favorite larger homes on Homeworthy. So nice to see a mix of old and new, high end and low. Lovely art, so nice that she names the artists and shows appreciation for their talent. And how nice that the prior owner had such good taste too. After this video, I would think she'll get a lot of new business as a designer, especially for children's rooms, they are adorable.
Her kitchen is amazing. My dream kitchen!! Beautiful house and a charming lady with great taste and style.
I am so happy she didn’t do a total gut renovation of this charming old farmhouse!❤
I can’t believe she hasn’t opened that cabinet next to the fireplace. I would have opened it the moment I moved in.😆
Me too!!🤣
Me also! What if it is some grave site? 😆
Absolutely lovely home!!!! Thank you for respecting the home's history when updating and decorating. Soooo cozy! ❤
Wow, what a gorgeous home! Love old homes with so much character, beauty and charm.
such a lovely home and hostess! thank you for sharing
What a beautiful home and garden space. Thank you for sharing!
Gorgeous, elegant AND cozy! One of my favorites. This home is enchanting. ✨🧚🏼
I love this house. It's such a fresh & beautiful blending of old and new. She is a very talented designer.
Absolutely charming and beautiful!
I grew up in a old 200 year home and love all the quirky elements. Beautiful home and grounds
Just a charming, beautiful old home! I love it! I love when someone as young as Whitney appreciates a beautiful older home!
You can feel the vibe of this wonderful home. Love the light in the house.
The kitchen looks cozy and well used. I love a kitchen that’s actually used and well designed.
Oh, how I love historic homes!! Definitely one of my favorite tours! Thank you Whitney for sharing your beautiful home with us. You have done an incredible job and your attention to detail is perfection! ❤️
This home is exquisite, and this designer couldn’t be more kind and gracious. I follow her on Instagram, and admire all of her interiors; but seeing this Homeworthy tour makes me love it even more. Her taste in patterns just does it for me, and the artwork is the chefs kiss in every room. I will be watching this again, so that I can truly pay observer all the beautiful details. Whitney, you are amazing; thank you for sharing 🥰
SPECTACULAR! Best home on homeworthy? Loved every square inch!
Wonderful tour, thank you, Whitney! I love Mary Maguire, Liberty, Broomfield finds, etc. You’ve done an amazing job in just two years.
Think you meant Brimfield???
Beautiful lady, beautiful home with so much history and good, solid bones. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us. It is so cozy and welcoming. Incredible history. You were lucky that the owners before picked great wallpaper.
Stunning and cozy!
Well done. She has done a fabulous job at making this home functionally while still balancing the old charm
Love your dress, your a classy lady. Thank you for the tour.
What a beautiful home!!
Loveliest of homes! The attention to detail was exquisite while still be so comfortable and the kitchen was truly so charming! She was a delight-thanks for sharing this home!!!
She is very nice, sweet and humble. Stunning home! Love the bedroom the most!
Charming home. I love her style!
Everything is so pretty and charming that I could move right in and not want to change a thing. It's a beautiful home!
I would love to see some of these houses at night with warm cozy lamp lighting. I'm sure that impossible to include in a shoot, but a girl can dream.
I am loving these East Coast homes!
Lovely home, lovely hostess😊 And she seems to be a very happy person! All the best to her and her family 🍀 greetings from Germany 😊
Great episode! Love that she’s not afraid to use Amazon and Target and even admit it. Sometimes I feel like I can’t emulate these beautiful designs , very impressed with her home and presentation
What a cost, yet beautiful, home. I love that the decor balances with the age of the home. Your gardens and outdoor living space are lovely. Thanks for sharing.
I especially love the little touch sconces and everything in Willow's room. Those sweet little chairs! ❤
Beautiful historic home and beautifully decorated.
Lovely home and gracious host. I can imagine they are very comfortable there. Would love to go to the Brimfield Flea Market someday!
Gorgeous cheery home with a ton of character! Thank you for the inspiration.
Really enjoyed this tour. Quite refreshing and relatable that somethings have been done on a budget and Whitney is having to wait to do other things. It looks amazing but I understand how there is always another project or improvement.
Beautiful home, love the floral arrangements. Thank you ❤
Simply charming!!
It has a "little house on the prairie" feel.
Those lamp shades over the kitchen island would work for a game of peek a boo😂
Gorgeous home. I loved everything about it! 😊
A very pretty home inside and outside! The kitchen is awesome. I love the mixing of patterns and soft cheerful colors throughout with soft white, plus with the wicker and scalloped decor.
One of my favorite tours so far!
Very beautiful, charming and very well decorated. One on the best I have watched here!
Thanks for sharing it with us!
Lovely home and decor
The door on the fireplace in your formal living room, that you are unable to open, would probably be where they stored the firewood.
I love your home and all of the happy memories you brought along with you. I especially like your decorating design. You are not hoity-toity! Your home reflects a very calm and peaceful.Vibe. However I’m sure when the children are home it’s exactly the opposite.
So cozy and sweet. Lovely abode!
Stunning❤
What a beautiful home!
The mysterious cabinet is for your logs for the fireplace.
Stunning!!
The master bedroom is lovely!
Cool addition on the home! You garden is the kine!
Absolutely gorgeous home! I love what you have done with it. I'm a lover of scallops myself:)
Love the kitchen and family room so much but the whole house is also very nice. I don’t like wallpaper but everything else is very nice. Super wonderful host.
Beautiful home.thank you for the tour.🙏
Lovely .
the chimes are annoying for 2-3 weeks, after that you learn to love them and actually miss them when the clock is not wound❤
I’d love a functional bee-hive oven in the kitchen! Hope you get that restored.
Lovely
lovely
Beautiful
I love the kitchen.
Beautiful house!
Piękny i uroczy dom, bardzo sympatyczna właścicielka z poczuciem smaku
Very charming home.
Love the hostess and the home------maybe im really old fashioned and southern but leaving the liquor out on display seems like it makes it too important and the children see it and want to do it also-----what do you guys think----im curious what other family think about this topic---back to this home-----REALLY NICE!!!!😊😊😊
Thought the same thing. The home is beautiful, but the alcohol cart. I don’t like it all for the reasons you mentioned and also I think it’s just too cluttered looking. I don’t know what is this trend nowadays of having a liquor station in a home.
I grew up with a bar cart that was fully stocked and used whenever my parents entertained. It is not a new phenomenon, but rather a revival of the bar cart. I'm a 60 year old grandmother, never had a drinking problem, neither did my parents. Maybe it's making it a forbidden fruit that creates temptation?😉
Very Lovely 😊
Beautiful ❤ home
Lovely home. Your shallow fireplace is for burning coal, not wood. You can purchase gas coal burning units to retro fit it if you like. Cheers!!
Beautiful home, Beautiful young woman! ( I’m sure doesn’t realize how much she says umm, so many times! If she watches this video she will definitely notice.)
Very nice! Where do they keep outdoor cushions?
Door probably covers the fiirewood storage.
Does anyone know the wallpaper in the downstairs powder room?🌸
Can you please change the settings of your camera to brighten things up? The last several tours have been so dark, not easy to see anything.
Just bought a house thinking of painting the kitchen cabinets. What color are your cabinets?
Beautiful home. Busy street though.
Wish the homeowners would state the paint colours - they appear different on screen. I think the dining room trim may be Oval room blue or Dix blue (Farrow and Ball) ?
Happy to share! Dining room is Pigeon by Farrow & Ball.
The shoes under the floor might have been put there for superstitious reasons. Here in the UK they used to box in a shoe in doorways and other places!
From which video is the house in the desert at 0:56?
Boston your my home😊 live a half an hour away
Beautiful home, lovely hostess, but why are the lights off for the tour?!
I came to look at her house which i love not worry about her voice. Her voice is fine with me
Very l
ovely wallpaper in the master bedroom, how can I find it?
Bing chilling
A very feminine design.
I’m not convinced that front door hardware is original to 1814
Is everyone in these homes an Interior Designer?
Mostly.
It would be nice to see a home that’s not done by an interior designer, but I just an average person with taste.
"An Historic House..." not "A Historic House..."
All the houses are starting to look the same. Kinda like seen one seen them all with this channel.
What part of Boston is this?
Metro west
Looks beautiful, but isn’t in Boston. 1:11
She mentioned that she’s in a metro west suburb.
It's Sherborn, MA (508 area code, suburban town 26 miles west of Boston)...
@@ktg8670 Im from the area. As soon as I saw the gorgeous grounds i KNEW that wasn’t Boston. Lots in the city aren’t typically that big.
Came here to find these comments ! I knew it couldn't be in Boston !!
I am very confused: why do you need to store your shoes in the dining room? Other than that, i think a bit less decorating with same style art and flowers would allow the house to shine more. For example, why put anything on the lovely trellis wallpaper in your bedroom? The small bathroom, your daughter's room and your garden are lovely!!
This room is also the main entry used every day so there needed to be a spot to hide away the shoes. Otherwise, you're right, it wouldn't make any sense!
Another tour without the lights on?? I get the idea of natural lighting..guess I’m getting old but it’s super annoying
