Inspired by the George Wythe House in Colonial Williamsburg, Gidiere partnered with architect James Carter to build her very own on a quiet street in the suburbs of Birmingham. The brick Georgian home is a true show-stopper with an interior and garden that can compete with its curb appeal. I think there is such a thing as too many patterns but the real prize here is not the house, it's the husband who set her up with her own business and surprised her. That's what's really beautiful to me.

Gift wrapping her business licenses that she would need to get off the ground (intimidating process - I’ve done it) - to rescuing her plants and nursing them back for her in their greenhouse, stating in such an adoring tone… “I’m glad to do it.” Oh sweet love. Lingerie is usually gifted to us when young and freshly laundered painting the loungeroom and pumping up tyres that last 2weeks or so is as much as possible when long in the tooth

This tour was a delight with all the pretty patterns and colors! Loved the story of how her husband did all the paperwork to get her started in her new career and put it wrapped under the Christmas tree 😃. Loved the stories behind the 5 chairs and the botanical prints from the grandmother. Even love the dogs names!

I've seen a number of homes in A.D. of some very wealthy/famous people. After seeing those and then watching this, it becomes very clear how much depth, dimension, and daring this overall interior design is. It has a very elegant, mature, and European flair to it. It is definitely not an American vibe and though there are hints of modernity, this is a very, very traditional aesthetic that is exquisite. The way in which the fabrics/patterns are used makes the eyes want to move through each part of the room. Much like the scent of an expensive perfume in which there are varying depths in the notes, this design is like that. There is a cohesive and consistent marriage of the outer and inner decor. The personality of the couple is very much reflected in their home and that makes this authentic to the heart of the home. This house is an impressive "business card"/billboard for the talent that this interior decorator has.
On a side note, with a house this size not just in square footage but also in height, housekeeping and maintenance is a full-time job. There is either a stay-at-home housekeeper or a weekly housecleaning service bec with two dogs and two kids unless the house is being run like the military, with all those light-colored fabrics and surfaces requiring constant care and attention. It is clear this is NOT meant to be lived in by an average person with the average budget; it serves perfectly as both a testimony for Caroline Gidiere Design and their home....which, btw, they are a lovely couple and makes an aesthetically beautiful family photo.
This is well done in every way.

Love this home, so gorgeous. I have spent the last 20 years or so planting trees and bushes and flowers in certain spaces so that they show through certain windows and will make beautiful moving shadows across the floors. Also so that when I look into a room, I see moving leaves outside. This is the most important part of interior decorating to me. I would lie on the floor and die if anything happened to my trees. The way their garden shows through the windows is the most beautiful part of the home in my opinion.
LOVE. When my kids were little the front bedroom had the best dappling light from the shadows of the tree in front. Best place to lay and read then nap in the whole house.

What a beautifully curated home. I totally see why friends were asking her to help them with their homes though that wasn't even her profession or line of work at the time. How amazing is that?! They saw her eye and talent -- and now she has a new calling, if you will. She's a natural. And of course being able to design and decorate well doesn't come so naturally for many. lol!!
I remember reading about her in Veranda magazine and she was a lawyer at first. Her home has been in many of the design publications.

Caroline is an artist! She uses color so beautifully! The dining room and the master bedroom are perfection. I’m amazed at how she uses patterns. The entire tour was one wonderful room leading to another wonderful room. It’s one of the most beautiful homes that I’ve seen. It is the one - THE one- that I’d love to live in. The home, the gardens, are a dream. And the family is the sweetest!

I can totally see the Williamsburg influences in the wallpaper and architecture and in the garden. I loved the decorating by the lady of the house. Beautiful gracious hostess and her handsome preppy husband. They love each other. Favorites are the “invisible” cabinets and secret room. Drawing room is so lovely, calm, and light filled. Love whole house.
