nice seeing the skill, and enthusiasm these guys show for their profession, but holy shit they are up their own asses about how insanenly good and important their competition is
But it is important for the Winners, lots of Winners are great Michelin starred chefs in Britain today like David Nichols, sat bains, Simon hulstone, Mark birchall, tom Barnes, etc So yeah that's quite important, even some losers are fantastic now
You can easily see how this dynasty of great chefs are able to produce alumni like Marco Pierre White the youngest 3 Michelin recipient ever at 33 and many more including Gordon Ramsey.
I love Michel Roux Jnr, his classic French/British style he gives the dish a bit more glamour and high end style. But I am sure that most of his dishes would taste magnificent. I am surprised how fit he still looks for his profession, or I would say on the skinny side..haha.
A bit too conservative, in certain ways. I'm not fond of his betrayal of Marco Pierre White. Albert is a brilliant chef, but with a skewed vision of the modern culinary industry. He's a true old-timer, and I mean this, in a good way, for certain things.
This is great because this is dinosaur era food, very few chefs are cooking like this and very few people are eating this type of food anymore. So seeing people being forced to do it for a stag at a 3 Micheline Star Restaurant is super funny to me at least.
Rich people will always get off on eating this kind of food. Fine dining ain't going nowhere. Not my cup of tea but I can appreciate the precision that goes into doing it. 3 stars is insane, u have to have delicious food but it needs to look n taste exactly the same every single time, that's tough.
This old fashioned stuff is more to test their improv skills and their ability to quickly pick up recipes. By having a dish they’d never done, it helps to get rid of any advantage people would have from having done it before
And that,, ladies and gentlemen,,, is why Alain has 3 Michelin stars and Michel jr has 2! Because Alain is doing 90% of the cooking and Michel is only talking and watching.
They are at the Waterside Inn which is Alain's restaurant. It would be strange for Michel to take charge in Alain's kitchen. But yes I suspect Alain has an edge over his cousin from a technical standpoint.
Can we have just cooks who cook to feed and not narcistic wankers who squirt into everyones face about them being the only ones who have a job? Please?

Mark Birchall is the chef who won that year. He is now the chef patron at the Moor Hall restaurant which is now a 2 Michelin star restaurant.
"We expect something imaginative done with the cucumber"
Erm....
Hahahahahaha I don't want to believe it is what I am thinking 🤣🤣🤣
I like your mind brother
Roux family giving back to the industry, that shows they are champion people
Incredible technique and wonderful explanations. Love these videos.
Michel as storyteller. I love that guy and perhaps one of the current living legends.

Alain is so good, I like his style
For those wondering it was Mark Birchall that won in 2011
Rip Gary rhodes and Andrew fairlie true cooking they have left a true legacy
Well said mate.
Also RIP Michel Roux, who passed a month ago
The cousins are always showing each other admiration
Is there a single Escoffier classic, that is used in the Roux Scholarship final, that does NOT contain button mushrooms?
"My chef that I worked for won in 2003, so he gave me alot of guidance, and he said they are gonna look for.. flavor." No, really??
Flavor, veal, artichokes, two cubes of stock pot, maybe three, your choice.
@@gkgyver You're not funny. You're just an UNORIGINAL IDIOT.
@@gkgyver hehehe
sometime I feel really impressed that Roux still managed to run his restaurant with so many TV show he has...
Well, he trusts his employess to handle the day to day, if he's not there.
Insane test of skill & vision.
That dish looks like a giant ancient Greek building
@CHR. Is this an order?
phenomenal
Old school but so impressive
They should televise this
Then go for it, live your dream. Good luck :)

How I wish this is on my everyday diet...
An indian in the finalist...immense joy💖💯
These two aren't messing around
They play with the food !

According to Wikipedia, Mark Birchall won. Can't believe they didn't mention it in the video!
the video is done up to the dish the finalists will cook.. thats why there are no results in the video.
'According to Wikipedia...'....... LOL!
Difference between a chef and a good cook. :)
YOu have two of the finest chefs in the world in that video there lol
Asinine.

I think the outside layer of that veal is bechamel not soubis
I hope no-one tripped carrying the tray through!
Monkfish and Rice........ I just spent 10 minutes trying to come up with anything. Aside from some plebeian risotto I am pretty baffled.

The sky is literally not the limit. Stop using "literally" the wrong way.
Pff what about Rasmus Kofoed? Or Rene Redzepi
Just out of curiosity. What the fuck is pretty fussy or pretty farsi
petit farcis it translates to stuffed/stuffing
What a spoiling recipe.
45 minutes for that I’d a been an hour and half doing the butchering
Why ruin this with kidneys.
