  • We decided to buy a 91 Toyota Winnebago!! This first video is a walk around of the vehicle as it showed up. I go through the vehicle as I see it and talk about some of the features and future plans to modify and renovate it.

Toyota made these for Winnebago and Dolphin to be finished out in their factories. In my friend's '91 Winnebago Itasca Spirit, the layout is the same but blue/gray interior. His has different exterior graphics but otherwise similar. The propane heater works great but it is not well insulated so a rug on top of your new vinyl tile floors will be essential in the winter as are reflectix cutouts for the windows. He cut his to size and used Velcro dots so he can store them in summer. Also, they are drafty rigs so he added some foam insulation to the cabinets, under bench storage and closet. A year or so later Winnebago dropped the oven for a microwave and went to a 3 burner stove. The 4 burners are great for people who like to cook, as is the small oven. Looking forward to seeing how you remake it and congrats on joining the Mini Winnie group. They are great small rigs and a strong Toyota V6 that's easy to drive.

Great find ! Those have been My favorites! The good thing is they are easy to drive & use as much fuel . The V6 is the best option .

I love these Toyota RV’s. But honestly, who mounts a hot water heater on the exterior. Particularly on the side of the coach? My first order of business would be to move that inside, and patch that gaping hole 😂

    I’m rebuilding a 1984 Toyota Camper now on a 2009 Silverado frame. (5.3 engine)

Anxious to see your progress, I have similar Toyota. Anxious to see how you handle the carpet particularly the wall between cab and camper. I can't figure out best way to remove/replace. Post lots of pics. My TV antenna comes out on bottom of cabinet I think I see a white cover plate in your video. Just above thermostat.

Nine days ago I bought a 1989 Toyota dolphin six cylinder. Why did they stop making those? The engines are easier to work on and cheaper than an RV. I’m trying to find someone to do a few changes in it not many. I can’t do it myself. I paid 7K and I bought it because it’s a Toyota. Heard a lot of good things about a Toyota. I don’t have a generator in that compartment. I have a propane tank. There’s a lot I gotta learn at least my air conditioner still works. Grateful for that, but they redid some things in it in 2006 concerning rebuilding the engine and kind of refurbished the inside. I don’t see why people put bumper stickers all over their vehicles. Not even on the inside. Thank God, they took the carpet out of the one I bought. It’s a nice floor in it. It’s vinyl but it’s dirty. Not even as dirty as this one. I hate that upholstery mine has red in it, which I’m just going to clean with a Bissell. It’s not bad at all. I have collected bark cloth and bark cloth eraser fabric for the last decade. A lot of it new old stock. that’s what I’m gonna use in it. I’m watching so many of these videos just for ideas.

Can you expand on the metal strip screwed/riveted to the bottom of the cab bed exterior? Was that after a repair and that was the solution to reinforce it or? (I have a 92 that needs some wood replaced in the upper cab). Looking forward to seeing the transformations! P.S. You'll probably want to drive with the full bed above you in sleeping position (with the piece set above you in place) plus a curtain. It will hold the AC from the truck in the cab below better while you drive. :)
