- (1999 Bill Laswell remix, precisely.) I know there are full albums of "Turn it Over" but I decided to just post just this song; it happens to be one of my favourite track from the album, and most importantly, one of the most intense. Surprisingly this track is different than Verve/Polydor's original version; bassist Jack Bruce is featured as a soloist prominently rather than guitarist John McLaughlin who shares background duties with organist Larry Young.

With his incredible bass playing and his unique sound, combined with an amazing voice and classical training he was the force behind Cream. Jack Bruce was the real deal in every way, he certainly belongs with greats like Tony Williams. I simply love this piece!
Each member of Cream was top in their class. Maybe that was the problem
Where are the classical training lines he's playing here?
@@skineyemin4276 in his musical background not in the playing on this song.
Jack was the force behind the Cream, but his brutal force was too much for that band, he had to head his own way!!
Jack said that he accepted that they took him in , initially,"just to get gigs" .But he also said ,that there was so much love in this band ,the music they made was like they had been playing together for years.
gawd... Mr. Jack Bruce was , just an absolute monster...he has all the avenues mastered ...singing...playing...writing...arranging...leadership...jast a badd m.f. er !!! go JACK BRUCE !!!
I saw this band in Sloane Square London in a small Theater. The place was packed. They were supported by Atomic Rooster. They were incredibly loud. First time I saw Tony Williams and McLaughlin (and Bruce for that matter). I was 16. They blew me away. They still do.
Thanks for sharing. You're very lucky, as I'm sure you're aware.
I can't imagine how extraordinary this must have seemed if you were a teenager coming of age in post-war UK.
@@thecandyman9308 We knew at that concert that something new and vital was happening even though at that time we didn't quite understand what.
Wow!
Jack Bruce - great bass player & vocalist
Jack Bruce, genius on the bass
He invented rock bass
Jack Bruce "Genius"
A lot of people don't know that Jack and Tony were also tailors.
They were sewing pockets within pockets of that last piece.
About this time, I saw The Tony Williams Lifetime with McLaughlin and Young with the addition of Jack Bruce and Don Alias (on timbales, I think) at Slugs. It was my first time for Alias and I was really impressed.
Now ,it comes full circle.would love to have been there.Jack said that when Blind faith was at the Garden , he was "downtown ,hanging out at Slugs".
Frische Luft für Körper und Geist!! Der Blick wird wieder klar, gerade in dieser toten Zeit...
Jack admitted that they probably took him in" just "to get gigs". But his declaration , that there was so much love in this band , that their music flowed ,as if they'd played together for years is quite apparent.
Jack Bruce,out of this world
Exactly I do agree 100% , maybe the only time John Mac took second stage in his life ? .
@@marklfazey9705 He took it with Miles.
A bsolutely amazing amazing band. Lucky enough to see them live at Birmingham Town Hall in about 68/69. Best band ever imo I went because I loved Jack and discovered so much more. Unforgettable truly.
@Maxine McKenzie I still recall it, I felt so cool that I'd "discovered" this amazing new band. 🙄They were just way ahead of most of the other bands doing the rounds even the "cool" ones.
SSSSoooo cool❗️
This is really cool jazz rock!
Progressive jazz!
I had never heard Emergency but bought Turn it Over and played it to death. Blew out my speakers at home. That lp and Heavy Metal Bebop along with Breckers w/ Billy Cobham changed my life. Amazing
Heavy Metal Bebop = Terry Bozio!
Thank you for sharing. I am a bass player and drummer , it comes home with these two peers of mine.I seen Jack play with West Bruce and Laing back in the day, never got to see Tony....the two together are cosmic. Big thank's from Nashville.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The ultimate Hallowe'en costume would have a music player through which Larry Young's organ music would be piped ..
The best band I ever saw or heard Life.
Effing intense
First time hearing this version
Wish they would have included this piece on Turn it Over album.
hyper slow panning, love it ,thank you .
One must love that ; we’ll noticed, not bad bass line as well ; bless .
Abe Union pride saw them in Portchester New York at the Capitol very good show was back ln the 70 s
Record company executives know nothing about music. This version of this and others have tobe saved by the crazy snip snip executive s.
Great stuff!!
Well, thank you. Haven't heard Tony in a while. Great post.
Love this! Thank You.
When the Gods made Love/ Jack & Tony sound incredible/I just wish MAHVISHNU John would have ripped up a little but he shows restraint n comfortable to lay back w/ Larry. Nevertheless Jack Bruce is kicking on all levels/ TRUE MASTER/ PURE FIRE/ Thanks for the post...
Kiler playing all around!
still love it!!
Yeah!
SICK BASS LINES BY JACK!!! SICK!!
Sick
Jeepers ..
This version is better than the original. Jack Bruce is on wild form here. Is there an L.P of the Laswell remixes?
To my understanding, the often-told story behind the Turn It Over remixed album goes that in 1997 Verve wanted Bill Laswell to remix Tony Williams' jazz fusion recordings, and he chose Turn it Over. by the time it was finished, Verve rejected the remixed album over the fact that the original master reissued on CD was not much of a seller; so it was circulated as a release from the Estate of Tony Williams rather with a CD (no vinyls, if LP means vinyl) - I don't know if the CDs are still in print. Meanwhile, Laswell's remix on Miles Davis' electric jazz period, is a different story and got the official approval fortunately
@@TheVeryBlondeOne Thanks for info. Be Well.
Me parece que es la música más interesante de esta época . Tony Williams , Lifetime . Agradezco la programación .
:)
Too bad about Lifetime. Bad mansgement, terrible gigs in high scjool gyms. They brought Jack in because of his genius and his name. The suits didn't know what to do with them.
Jack Bruce the basement jammer. What some crap.
Diese Formulierung ist nicht gut, richtig: - aber diese Aufnahme - eine Erfrischung, tief ansetzend, dynamisch die Seele durchdringend.
Mehrmals hören - gerade in dieser Zeit!!

Not fond of the overall mix. Great playing tho'.
I dont like this remix.
