Australia's Stephanie Rice won three Gold medals at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, both in the 200- and 400-metre individual medley events as well as in the 4×200-metre freestyle relay. She won all three medals in world record times! Recording a time of 4:29.45, she reclaimed the world record from Hoff, bettering the mark by 1.67 seconds, and became the first woman to break the 4:30 mark in the 400-metre individual medley.

Amazing swim by Stephanie. Still have to acknowledge Coventry though. Both had amazing swims and were under WR pace for practically all of it

It was Coventry that pushed Rice to be her absolute best in both IM races. Both are winners in my mind!
They were 4 lanes apart. Rice would have had no idea where she was.

If you work as hard as Stephanie Rice worked, you have every chance. You can tell by how Stephanie finishes both those races, just how incredible her conditioning was.

Just amazing, imagine she would have done a flip turn from back to breast stroke, as the others did, she could have beaten the WR by even more. But I know from experience, it's not an easy flip turn, but can be a huge advantage if you're able to master it.
