  • In this video, we show you how you can easily renovate or build a really old pond by using all the old stone and rockwork to transform it into a stunning feature in your garden that will last for many years.
    We show you step by step how we complete this process to hopefully give you some ideas on how you can do the same.
    Building a pond or renovating a pond doesn't have to be too difficult, it is always hard work but if you watch this video it should give you a few tips on how to make your pond build or renovation a more simple and straightforward process.
    Before you build a pond, choose wisely...
    If you wanted a conservatory built, you would employ a reputable builder not a mechanic. Or if you were designing a new house, you would hire an architect not an accountant.
    So if you would like to have a pond built, seek the help of a firm that specialises in this trade, not a fencer, builder or a landscape gardener.
    It can be a costly mistake to try and rectify a poorly built pond. Get it right the first time around.
    We can design and build your pond from start to finish. From small to large natural ponds or to the more specialist koi pond using only the correct materials, equipment and most importantly the know-how to finish the job correctly.
    We would only use materials that would provide longevity to your ponds life. There is no point cutting corners here. There is also nothing worse than an un-level pond, all our levels are found using lasers.
    The most common style ponds are raised/formal, ornamental & wildlife ponds.
    Hope you enjoyed the video! Don't forget to click the like button if you did, and also subscribe to our channel if you would like to see more helpful hints and tips!

    This is what I have to do also. Our pond has been out there for about 30 yrs. Last yr. I drained it and removed a bunch of the muck that had accumulated on the bottom and in between the rocks. Filled it back up, it's about a 250 gal. pond. Looked Great.! Nice and clean. Then a few days later I was losing water.!? I wore rubber boots, cleaned out in between the rocks with a broom. Obviously there's a Leak.! So now, I have to undo, and redo. OMG. Wish me luck....😂😂

    • @oliverskinner8962
      @oliverskinner8962 Před rokem +1

      @@heidispawsandfins tru but it's not just leaves a skimmer would also collect uneaten food that could cause fish a bacterial infection all year round not just autumn so well worth the extra money in my opinion but I understand there not 100% necessary for every pond build.

    • @heidispawsandfins
      @heidispawsandfins Před rokem +2

      @@oliverskinner8962 yep, you're right. I do find that skimmers manage to grab the food too quickly while the koi are still eating though! When you're paying out mega bucks on koi food it's really frustrating. So I tend to have to stay out there while they eat and put a net in front of the skimmer to catch and redistribute the food until the koi aren't so interested. I then remove any food manually anyway so it's completely out of the pond's system. But obviously, if I'm not about and the auto feeder is on then it does remove it. Pros and cons as with pretty much everything!! 😉

    • @Lwimmermastermetalart
      @Lwimmermastermetalart Před rokem

      I would certainly agree. Skimmers are essential . If you have trees you’ll get leaves. Leaves turn to muck which is work to get rid of. I like skimmers too because they have a pump vault. If you ever have a problem with a line leak coming out of your pond you can suck your pond dry and if you have fish you could loose them if you don’t catch in time. A raised pump will never let the water level to get that low. I like to have a separate line with a separate pump to push water along the bottom sort of like what he did but closer to the bottom. I fabricated PVC pipe and painted it black. No need for holes in the liner. Plus I set it up with a valve to feed new water in for water changes of 10 to 20 % as needed for fish. I have a tail of liner at the one end to let the old water on top to run out. This also allows for an exit when you get very heavy rain falls. Just some ideas that worked for me. Great video and beautiful work though.

    A natural pond created by nature has variations and surprises.
    I also like the idea of a bigger rock that can be sat on by children so they can dangle their feet into the pond and another thing I like is an unexpected little curve out that is very shallow and has sand with a few small smooth pebbles.
