  • Manchester City vs Tottenham 3-3 was a thriller, and striker Erling Haaland criticized referee Simon Hooper on social media for a controversial decision, leading to widespread pundit criticism. The problem involved Haaland being denied an advantage, provoking protests and a contentious social media post. Manager Pep Guardiola expressed surprise but discouraged excessive focus on the decision. Haaland also engaged in a furious post-match argument with Tottenham's Giovani Lo Celso, further adding drama to the intense encounter.

Refrees should be accountable for their decisions. U can’t call it a human error and be done with it. League is very competitive, every match counts. Whenever a referee makes such a decision, he should be demoted the next game without question.

This is what happens. They are graded every game and the best performing officials are given the top games. They might not get demoted immediately but continued poor performance will see them drop down to less important games. It's the same as for players. You don't necessarily drop your top player because they make one mistake but they will be dropped if their form stays poor over a certain number of games.

Why does it matter? Nothing that club achieves deserves any recognition anyway. The only reason they compete for titles is because they cheated, they shouldn't even be there. Any club can buy the best players and best managers when you can cheat. What's impressive about it? It's just a long term business plan for the owners, it's just money, it's not about fair competition. Fuck City. Take away all heir pots. Relegate them to League One where they belong. Disgusting fans. Disgusting owners. Disgusting club.

Has anyone looked into if Grealish was offside because if so then it was a brilliant call by Hooper. If he was on then yes a boneheaded blunder. That to me could be why he gave advantage and then called foul as maybe got info from AR that it is offside. As well if that so I would agree to not let advantage go on and play through like they do now have a goal score and then say it offside.

Criticism of referees by players, managers, newspapers, pundits and followers of football will ultimately kill the game. A football referee's job is a thankless task. Whatever the referee does, nitpicking analysis will follow leading to off field "decisions" on how it should have been. This will not lead to better referees. It can only result in the better referees leaving the profession, resulting in a lowering of standards. No amount of money could make it worth suffering the abuse dished out at the officials.
When I see news items tipping Harland for Sportsman of the year and I see pictures of this "wonderful" "sportsman" spitting out hatred and aggression in the face of the unfortunate man who is paid a minute fraction of what Harland gets, I wonder if people understand the meaning of the word "sportsman" any more.

While the referee is in error and should be held accountable for it, however at the same time just because erling haaland is a star player doesnt give him the licence to go into a rage and outburst on the field no matter what the decision of the referee is..The referee has to have control over the game otherwise there will be chaos..The hallmark of a sportsman/great player is not just their ability or competence in the game, but also how they conduct themselves on the field especially..Maradona no doubt was a footballing legend, but he was controversial and many aspects on and off the field and this ruined his reputation..Hope Mr Erling Haaland takes cue from that and does not get too drunk by his stardom to flout basic etiquette on the field..

Its their job and it was a huge mistake made by the referee. For you it’s just a game, for them it matters much much more. 3 points in the premier can literally be the difference between first and second place, something which has real world repercussions in several areas for these players. I get your point but how would you react if someone compromised an important part of your job (let’s say a huge holiday bonus) and not only that, but in an unfair manner? Maybe you’d be a total zen about it, but most people would be just as furious as haaland was

The other side of the coin would be that a free kick from just inside your half could result in a headed or kicked shot on goal from around the 18, so that opportunity would be considered more valuable. Again, go look at the player locations at the moment before the kick. There are 4 opponents, 2 tracking back near the center circle and 2 defenders right with Grealish. Advantage requires: Possession of Ball, Potential for Attack, Personnel(number of attackers), and Proximity to Goal. City fans would have been howling for the free kick had Haaland's kick gone into the stands.@@kye4216
