tbh the most realistic part (imo) was that Lara Jean didn't get prom queen. I feel like usually the winners are the most popular male and female of the class regardless of whether or not they are friends/dating.
Yeah, so in my country we dont have Prom Queens and stuff, so I've always wondered how in every teen movie the Prom Queen and King just so happen to be also dating or smth? Yeah I guess if they are both popular and are like a PoWeR CoupLE or whatever /if these even exist and are not something made up from the media or smth/ but like, jusst because youre dating the hottest cheerleader doesnt automatically give you right to be a king or smth. Idk the whole consept for Prom Queen is really dumb to me, what are you even winning"? Isnt Prom in the end of your last year? /here prom is after you've graduated, like we finish classes in mid May, then we have The Big Finishing Exams a week later, then we have Prom few days later, it al depends of the school, and then we have the graduation ceremony a month later/ What's the whole point of Prom Queen if youve basically receiving a trophy saying "congrats on being the most popular yay"???
@@yonicorn1641 the concept isn't dumb depending on school and state. My friend in a different state has loose prom royalty rules so ya, it's a popularity contest. But here in Idaho as much as the final part is a vote, you can't just join, you have to apply and have good grades and extracurriculars and stuff. Idk, I sorta like it because if you have a school that does the application method then when you win it goes into highschool transcript and can help you enter beauty pageants if your into that. It goes the same for homecoming royalty (begging of year big dance) and although they don't get scholarships, they have responsibilities to carry out for the rest of the year until prom. The issue not just with prom but with american schools is that things differ from state so while I have that prom set up and get an excellent education other states just decide to do less so that's it I guess. I think it would be cool to see a movie where the protagonist aims for prom royalty for the scholarships.
This movie made me so pissed. Like the whole time people were apologizing to Lara Jean, but she was the guilty one. Uuuuugch. And in the end she is like "When you love someone, you choose him every day." But she didn't choose Peter for once. So.... But Dylan's commentary made the whole movie so much better.
@@angelicsailor1st what part of this movie led you to believe thaf she's self absorbed? Are you saying that chosing to go to your dream school over keeping with a high school relationship (which isn't even technically what she did, she still wanted to be with Peter) is self absorbed? I honestly think HE was the one at fault here. She wanted to go to a different school and he was completely unsupportive. The whole 'you didn't love me enough' thing is super toxic
@@littleredhead75 I agree with you 100% on Peter and I don't have a problem with her going to a far away college for her dreams I was talking though, about how she treats other people/her family and how it's always the Laura Jean show this is my perspective on it I'm not trying to sway anyones opinion but she does come across very selfish and self centered throughout the series some other people in this comment section said it better then I did with more detail.
LMAO Dylan's face when she was like "well I'm not like you Margot, I don't wanna be far away from my family" WAS LITERALLY ME. Like BITCH you better calm down, your sister is living her best life in Scotland!!!!!!!!
I honestly think she was jealous oh her sister.Margot always chose herself over others which that sometimes is a good trait.Margot if she wanted something she didn’t let any one stop her and Lara Jean always wanted everyone’s opinion
@@samanthaho7713 well, in her defense I don’t think she’d even gotten into Berkeley at that point (maybe she had just found out?) so going to NYU wasn’t even something she was considering yet (that comes way later in the movie). And I guess at least Berkeley and Stanford are still west coast. But you’re right, it was never about her family so that came out of nowhere. Even if she got into her original choice which was in CA, she’d be super far from them lol.
I like how Dylan initially said it would be better idea for Lara Jean to interact with her Korean roots and learn abt her mom when that’s literally what the spin-off film is gonna do
Her complaining about being an hour away from him when my boyfriend literally lives halfway across the world from me and I just finally got to see him after a year.
Right. I was with someone for 10 years, basically from ages16-26. I lived 2100 miles from him while I went to college (opposite sides of the US). We then dated an additional 3 years while living together before breaking up. I could've done the whole 10 years of the relationship an hour away -_- an hour is easy mode.
fr, even tho it’s not the same, my bf is in the military and lives 3 hours away, can only see him on strictly weekends, never know when he’s gonna be called back.
It’s funny cause in a couple months he’ll have to watch this “will we stay together when we go to college or break up” plot again in the kissing booth 3

Dylan needs to watch a k-drama. All he talks about is how badly he wants to watch someone in a movie/show get stabbed, killed, or run over. I've never seen a k-drama that doesn't have at least one or two of those things. xd
Have you noticed that almost every single movie that is based on a book has a main character that's interested in literature and reading books? yeah authors we get that you love reading and writing chill.
lmao it’s cause it’s an easy cheat to have your character be “relatable” because usually people who are reading the story,,,,, are also people who like to read and write
Idk. With to all the boys it's pretty justified. Within the first few Minutes of the first film sets up her love of books. So we get that information before the plot gets going
she actually wanted to answer her sister, when she asked if they were okay after their fight, but she send the message to peter by accident, so she didn‘t choose to lie to him. idk it doesn‘t really make a difference.
I mean... I do the same thing and I’m a writer 😂😂😂 feelings are way too complicated to explain when they are your own and not a fictional character’s 😂
@Martina Migliorini 4'4 that is almost equivalent to when ppl say "you're a writer. you should have no problem writing an essay" lol frustrates me every time when ppl say that
@@erzaerza314 I found out that the brain doesn’t distinguish between real humans and fictional. So I’ll those feelings are real, your brain grieves when a character in a book dies, it’s happy when they get their goals, and so.. and I don’t know how to feel about that 😩😩😩
The second movie was poorly constructed and it continued with this one. The “look back” at the end felt so empty cause of what actually happened in between. Peter and Lara Jean deserve each other because they’re both insufferable.
Dylan: "I am currently writing a fictional story" (Ten years later) "Yeah, I am still in the process of writing my book, but it is going to be great. Just wait about 5 more years."
What I hated as a native NYer was her instant infatuation with "life in NY" because she went to exactly one rooftop party in Manhattan, and that being why she chose NYU. She doesnt seem to like the school for what it offers, only for where it is and is making a decision based off one trip. Wait until the insane living prices hit you and the trains are filled with homeless people in the winter.
I literally spat out my drink when Peter Kavinsky had the nerve to say, “Not enough apparently” in response to Lara Jean telling him she loved him all because she didn’t want to go to a college she didn’t get into. That’s manipulation at it’s finest, folks.
I guess it's just so painful for Peter. he was so upset and we all tell people bag things when we are upset. His dad left him and Peter himself told that this was the worst feeling ever - not to be chosen. And LJ told him that she's choosing him. And then she's about to leave him for college with 3000 distance. He felt betrayed that he trusted LJ that she will choose him no matter what and then she "chose" college on the other side of country "instead of him". It's so hard to not compare your relationship with the situation in family. I can totally understand Peter and it's wonderful that he understood his mistake.
is there anyone else who kinda liked her when she was single? i liked how she was focused on herself and she seemed really happy, and i was kinda wanting to see her grow, but then they got back together. i also, do indeed miss ambrose
@Morgan Britt I liked her when she was single as well as when she was with Peter in the first movie, after the first movie things went downhill real quick though from a story perspective... 2nd movie was shit and made the 3rd movie worse then shit. In the first movie they has chemistry and genuinely seemed like they enjoyed spending time with eachother, their relationship seemed like they were the type to constantly introduce eachother to new things and play off eachother great with their dynamics helping eachother grow and be comfortable as people. Though that went down the drain in the 2nd and 3rd... 2nd was the worst though, and 3rd is absolute shit and even more so with the context of the 2nd.
Personally, I think it would’ve been really cool if they didn’t get together. Like it would be different than the typical ideal high-school love story. I think it would’ve been cool to show a relationship needing distance to better themselves. And then maybe years later coming back or just ending their journey together idk lolll

@@Valentina-fc8zb He did? I just thought he was working for another movie or something but yeah it would’ve been stupid to recast a side character I feel like they should’ve had Laura Jean just casually mention he went away to college or something

“I love you” “Not enough, apparently” I have never laughed harder over a scene in a romcom. Who WROTE this.?? Why would anyone want them to be together???? They really made a film about teenagers breaking up over college admissions in the year 2021.
Why? He's just a big dork, and it's cute. And I say this as a professional dancer and choreographer. I don't understand why people are hating on Noah's dancing, when just about everyone else in the movie danced like he did. It's not like Lana was dancing any better in this movie as her character? And she used to be a dancer.
@@Kathom34 because it just doesn't fit the narrative. The movie is all over the place and this was completely unnecessary. You being a professional dancer doesn't have any weight on here, we all know he was trying to be quirky but it's not realistic and you can see how disinterested he is in his character. He is a very bad actor so it doesn't help, he made the whole thing very unnatural too
@@Mel-jl8dt What wasn't realistic about how he was dancing? Lmao That makes absolutely no sense. And yes me being a professional dancer and choreographer does have merit, because you don't know anything about dancing. I do, and you are just talking out of your ass. That is how he saw his character dancing. Lana's dancing wasn't any better, and she used to be a dancer. However she was dancing how she thought her character would, clearly. Noah is not a bad actor, and I think you have some vendetta against him. He is very enjoyable to watch, beyond his looks. I can see him in the same genre of a Brendan Fraser one of these days. You know people thought Will Smith couldn't act at first, but he was a very enjoyable actor to watch, and he turned into a great actor. I'm sure Noah will continually grow as an actor as he ages. He does well in the dramatic scenes as it is. Also have you ever met a teenage boy? Because most of them dance just like that or not at all. Most are awkward.
@@Kathom34 yo chill there mate. You are completely wrong on what they were tryna say. As in the whole movie and it’s script, the dancing part was unnecessary and just cringe. It doesn’t matter if you’re biased on hating or loving him. This is just a matter of good script writing and make it enjoyable for majority. Which it isn’t, it was just there and it was just weird. You can tell me I’m just saying this because I dislike Noah, but I don’t. He is a fun actor for nostalgia but he isn’t the best of best actors. But he also isn’t the worst. But no matter who was dancing in that scene, I would have been weirded out due to the movies pace. It would have been fine in the first movie maybe. But here I just can’t with it. It’s just awful and unnatural. His dancing wasn’t realistic to me, as a viewer, I could give less shit if he thought it fitted his character or not, it wasn’t enjoyable nor realistic to me. You know you can judge a movie, it’s scenes and it’s actors right? This is what these people are doing, it’s fine if you enjoy it but there was facts stated by the person above that you simply didn’t read nor wanted to read properly. You can enjoy shows and such but you also gotta realize it’s downfalls. If you fucking tell me it’s bcz I simply don’t like Noah, I swear to god-
@@Kathom34 well as a film student who literally works on this industry and I have an acting degree I can guarantee you that anyone who's serious about acting and has studied it can see that he's not a great actor. The only role he cam play is a role like this because he's playing himself. Anyone and by anyone I mean anyone could play the character he portrays. Will Smith is a good actor, always has been. He wasn't taken seriously fir different reasons. If you understand how Netflix casting works you'll see that it's mainly about who can pay and who has connection. No wonder why he appeared in so many different Netflix films. The first one was great but this one was a disaster from a production standpoint, dialogues, directing and acting. Noah clearly is tired of his role and so is she tbh. They don't put the same energy into it compared to the 1st. If you want to talk about her acting in this movie we can too ahah she's a good actress, way above the standard of this movie honestly. But here it's not it. It's the same with Cheryl from riverdale, good actress who's just tired of the role but is under contract

@@yonicorn1641 lol ikr, what even is most popular if you are not even gonna see most of these people for probably rest of your life
@@yonicorn1641 the concept isn't dumb depending on school and state.

She was very self absorbed while thinking she was such a caring understanding well read person it really upset me
Ever since Lara and Peter started dating she feels the world revolve into them and she was insecure in Part 2

I literally spat out my drink when Peter Kavinsky had the nerve to say, “Not enough apparently” in response to Lara Jean telling him she loved him all because she didn’t want to go to a college she didn’t get into. That’s manipulation at it’s finest, folks.
i was so pissed off bc he was making it all about himself
I guess it's just so painful for Peter. he was so upset and we all tell people bag things when we are upset. His dad left him and Peter himself told that this was the worst feeling ever - not to be chosen. And LJ told him that she's choosing him. And then she's about to leave him for college with 3000 distance. He felt betrayed that he trusted LJ that she will choose him no matter what and then she "chose" college on the other side of country "instead of him". It's so hard to not compare your relationship with the situation in family. I can totally understand Peter and it's wonderful that he understood his mistake.
Right?! Miss me with that toxic shit

exactly. ever since she and peter got together, she acted like her world revolves on him
@Morgan Britt period
The bowling scene with Noah dancing genuinely terrifies me
