  • In this episode, I show you how to hunt for junkyard LS swap donor engines from home using Row52.com and car-parts.com.
    Here's a link to the cheat sheet I mentioned in the video: lowbuckls.com/junkyard-ls-che...

    Blocks on the L96 are cast iron and not aluminum. The LY6 is the older variant that is pretty much identical short of the cam phaser on the 07/08 versions and no flex fuel injectors. There is also the more uncommon LC8 that is the same thing again but set up from the factory to run on natural gas. The gen iv aluminum 6 liters are the L76 from the 07 to 09 Vortec Max trucks and the more obscure LFA and LZ1 Hybrid 6 liter trucks.

    Somehow I figured you where in Calgary. I'm in ponoka. I'm closer to edmonton but the pick m pull is on the far north west side of towm,making it almost easier to drive to calgary for me lol

      I actually live in Sylvan Lake, so not far from you at all, cool. I do tend to go to Calgary for junkyard trips though but may have to do a trip to Edmonton some time.

      @@bertvisser6423 yeah that’s pretty tempting, looks like they have 2... by the time you pay for fuel to Calgary and some meals etc the pick n pull engine is gonna cost pretty close to $400

      @@LowbuckLS I kinda want the harness and ecm with it, The tahoe has low oil pressure issues(even after oilpump and o-ring on tube) and I suspect worn cam bearrings. So figured I swap that 4.8 out with a good one,repair the 4.8 that came out with then a much needed SS2 cam or something and drop it in one of my trailblazers :)

    Hi Randy, all I can say is row52 hasn't much, IF any selection! Certainly not getting the results you have on your screen, I must be doing something wrong. Question; do I HAVE to be logged in and registered user to get better results? Mostly I get 1 or 2 or 0 results.

      @LowbuckLS  Před 3 lety

      I don’t think being logged in will get you more results, it just allows you to click on the VIN number and see the vehicle details. I know in some areas there are junkyards that don’t use Row52 like the Bucks yard I mention, or it might just be that in your area there aren’t many donor vehicles available. But I don’t think logging in will help that issue.
