I have both the old style and this new one and I feel it's worth the upgrade. Those slight changes in size makes a world of difference. The GSI 24 oz cup will nest with the new larger version.
I just bought one too. The cups are marked 10 oz, but the new grey cups are a tad bit bigger by maybe 0.5 oz. I like the silicon pull tab (I've never seen anyone burn the old green plastic tab)
I also noticed they hold just a bit more over the old cups. The only time I saw the lid melt off was when a buddy of mine put his whole cup directly in a fire which was completely engulfing the cup. I think sometimes people forget we're supposed to cook over coals and NOT direct flames. I also see many people hang their pots IN the flames and not JUST ABOVE the flames where the heat is the hottest. Have fun with your new cookset, I know I will. Thanks for reaching out
Yes... but with the plastic cap retainer you actually loose about 1/2". I think it catches the bottom curve of the cup. Plus the retainer strap catches on the sides making it very hard to put on and take the cup off if put on top of Nalgene bottle. Hope this helps.
I love my older version too, I do like that they listened to the masses though. Having a bit more capacity is always nice but being able to add most bottles we use is nice for making a little more space saving kit.

That’s my next piece of kit. 👍😃

Great overview. I'm going to add one to my pack when i get the chance, even though i have 2 of the originals AND the 2qt pot set.
I like the upgrade but wish they would have kept the green cups for those that are in the Green Cup Club.
Can you turn the cup upside down over the Nalgene bottle?

I preffer the old model.
