I have the GSI, my brother has the Stanley. We just got back from camping and my GSI scorched on the bottom, burned food. My brother’s Stanley cooked more evenly. I preferred cooking on the Stanley more. Stanley was also easier to clean. I still have several large scorch marks on my GSI. The Stanley was much heavier. Didn’t use the cooking utensils included in the Stanley. My GSI spoon has a weird shape, doesn’t really stir food well. The GSI non-stick square pan is a much better pan than the one that comes with the Glacier Base Camper set.

The extra base thickness on the Stanley Even Heat is similar to the Magma Nested Cookset that I and many others use and highly recommend. I think the Stanley would be a cheaper alternative to the Magma Cook sets for those wanting controlled cooking without burning food.

I've been collecting STANLEY cook sets for decades. That featured cook set is the only one that I haven't bought yet. But it's my next purchase for sure. I tend to use smaller sets since it's me and my husband, we're Senior Citizens so we eat lighter than we used to. Can't beat STANLEY for QUALITY, PROFORMANCE and DURABILITY, THUMBS-UP 👍. We recently EVALUATED FROM HURRICANE IAN and ONLY STANLEY cookware went with us in our GoBags! We knew it wouldn't let us down and it's PROFORMANCE was FLAWLESS. Nice video Review Comparison 👍. Thanks for the review. I’m assuming the Stanley set has aluminum sandwiched in stainless steel like good home skillets while the GSI has one layer stainless steel. Prepare to scorch a lot of food with the GSI set. To get non-stick capability you have to go with Teflon or ceramic coatings but Teflon shouldn’t be heated above 500 degrees to prevent toxic fumes and ceramic is non- toxic but isn’t as slippery as Teflon and isn’t very durable. Cast iron is heavy but non-toxic and slippery if seasoned properly but properly seasoned cast iron skillets are expensive. BTW the cheaper Lodge cast iron skillets do not come seasoned properly for non-stick, just feel how rough they are when new although you can season them properly yourself to make them non-stick but it it time consuming. As you can tell, I’m done a lot of research on cookware.

I really do feel like the Stanley could depending on what you are cooking. I mean it would be cutting it close depending on how many teenagers you have I’m guessing lol. You’re not going to make a “giant” stir fry the pan without some food spilling a bit but it’s decent size. You could make enough chili or soup in the large pot to feed 5 for sure. I think it could be done if you are coming at it from a point off wanting to have a somewhat compact lighter weight kit and knowing you’ll have limitations in volume here and there. Chili's, soups, boil noodles for pasta. I mean those are some things I can think of that I would need a large volume pot but I also use it for all sorts of stuff. Like when I brown beef for tacos it is nice to have a large pot to limit splatter. I use a large pot for a lot. You can check out my Stanley vs GSI comparison video as well if you like.
What kind of stuff are you cooking out on the trail?

@@EvergreenOverland i don't get too crazy, i do cook a lot of pasta dishes out of convenience, i'm wondering how the coleman would hold up as a dutch oven. i really want to try trail calzones. i have the gsi aluminum dutch oven but it's still pretty heavy and not really deep enough. i'm still toying with the idea of making the dough from scratch or just buying the premade canned dough. i prefer the homemade dough but the headache of making it on trail is a big deterrent for me. i suppose just putting all the ingredients in a ziplock and adding water would work since you don't need too much rise on them. went on a bit of a tangent haha

    • @EvergreenOverland

They will stick if you don’t season and use them right. It is a learning curve but stainless can be seasoned similar to cast iron.
