    Normally when I'm teaching my friends something, I don't like to just plop a video on their lap and say "figure it out", but this is a MASSIVE exception.
    I find this video incredibly useful at showing what freedom you have with this game, I'm a SUCKER for player individuality, and incentivising newbies to build their own combo they can consistently pull off (or optimize for more damage) with the actual knowledge of what the attacks in that combo even do is something I see lacking in most famous resources, and I've been hungry for step-by-step analysis of single combos, I LOVE it. Really leverages down the fear of the accursed training room a bit, and I really feel there's a misconception there about training room not being fun at all (much like any misconception about FG difficulty, though it may just me who likes being a bore-ass that sits in training room practicing the same on combo over and over again and have a blast doing it).
    "Just claim it was an intentional reset and start a new combo."
    Amen.
    I've had friends who I've played other FGs with constantly but Skullgirls never seem to click for them, but hopefully this, along with some extra words of encouragement, can bring back some inspiration to at least dust it off a little for some games. You have my thanks, friend.

    OMG incredible, you summarized 60% of what I had doubts about the combo system, the remaining 40% is now practice to know which moves connect with others. Thank you very much!

    I never actually playing a fighting game properly, learning combos and everything. After watching the TOP 8 Evo yt video, I thought I might try to get into Skullgirls, but it looks quite daunting... I really don't like labbing, and prefer to practice while "actively" playing.
    But videos like these really help. I'll try talking it little by little 😂

    thank you for one of the most concise and easy to understand primers I've found so far. I haven't played a fighter since the og soul caliber, and had heard Skullgirls was good for learning, which... well, it's still all very opaque! This video has really helped.

    This is just too much. Way too much.
    Having individual moves be so meaningless by themselves also just sucks imo.
    Plus this game has like 200 people playing and most are likely outside of Europe. So it's effectively dead for me. Too bad.

    • @ampersandrew-yt
      @ampersandrew-yt  Před rokem +4

      Very few moves in this game will be meaningless by themselves outside of a combo (though there are some). If it feels like too much, then no worries; it just means you're at the stage where you either want to use the basic universal combo of Light Medium Heavy Special Super, or you can use the easy mode combo, like my example for Robo Fortune's easy mode combo. 200 concurrent players is plenty to enjoy a fighting game, and the netcode in the game is good enough that it only KIND OF matters where they are in the world (mostly it just matters that neither of you is on wi-fi). Technically you only need 1 other person to play. There are various Discord communities where you can set up matches, including for Europe, as seen here:
      www.youtube.com/@skullgirlseurope2423/about
      Some people just want to hit a matchmaking button and get players at approximately their skill level, and I get that, but with not too much work, the game is far from dead and not too hard to learn.

      Care to elaborate? Are you just not at that point in your time with the game where you're ready to move on to bigger combos? Or is there something that the video doesn't explain well enough?
