The guys at stirlingkit.com sent me this awesome little engine to assemble and test, and let me tell you it was a lot of fun, it was like Lego but for adults (not that I am one haha still a youngster by heart). I always wanted something like this ever since I was a kid, and this was just perfect.

I can't believe it .a video without ridiculous annoying music ! well done 10/10
Thank you, yes I don't do the crappy music and sped up videos.
I agree. I abandon videos with awful noise, posing as music. Total spoiler for me.
Completely agree. No annoying music.
Yes, great video with really nice background sounds! Well done!
Yes, I just subscribed because of that!
Mister, your video quality is second to none . And the steps shown explain themselves. Thank you for such a thoroughly professional presentation. Greetings from South Carolina!
Thank you so much! I appreciate the compliment.
Wonderful mechanical masterpiece! Excellent assembly job. Enjoyed this video very much.
I'm impressed. I've restored 17 antique cars, but I'm getting old.
I've found a new hobby.
Its a great hobby.
Glad you got that put together All of those small parts can get lost real quick Glad they sent it with the tools to help you get it put together
I did almost lose some of the small parts. Had to go down on my knees to look for it haha
@@AJRestoration well at least you found them to get it done otherwise you would have to get more of them from the company that made it
All the way from china, that would be sad to wait a week for parts.
@@AJRestoration you got that right AJ 💪😎😁
They have a hit n miss engine show in my area every year... They have a 125 h.p. engine.. its as large as a freight train... Very nice video.. thx for sharing...
Wow imagine putting this small one on top of the large 125hp for comparison.
What an impressive kit. It appears to be of high quality parts and the paint is beautiful.
It is full stainless steel, really good build quality.
Great video! It's possible that a light interference bearing shell fit in the con rod big end will keep it from rotating yet leave crankpin clearance.
Steady and deliberate. And, as always, have the right good tools helps greatly,
Wonderful video. Beautiful craftsmanship, a work of art. Thank you.
A big thanks to you buddy!
what a cool lil engine powering a lamp at your cabin while reading a book.
for mounting the fuel tank, I think it would be easier to mount the inside portions first then put the fuel tank in the grooves then fold the straps over to the outside and mount there, that way there won't be any hassle
I saw that.
Yes I agree
Ok Smart*ss next time
This is quite therapeutic
I am glad you liked it!
Cool little project. Nicely done.
Glad you like it Mark, its was a lot of fun building it.
What a beautiful kit! Thanks for posting this.
You are so welcome!
That is cute, they even give you a syringe of Lubriplate 105 as assembly lube.👍😎
Nice job!
I love the sound it makes.
Glad you like it!
Now make a fan next to it powered by it😊
And it will run slow, like they should. Very good video!
Neat machine , good job building it .
Thank you! It was a lot of fun building it!
Now you need to put it on a tiny pump jack like they use on a oil or gas well 👍
Oh man that would be awesome! That might happen in the future.
Great video, what an awesome build!! 👍👍
My hit/miss is a little different, like 500lbs heavier. 😉😅😅
My grand dad had one on a tractor you could hear it coming from miles away.
Éstos son los juguetes más geniales que un viejo como yo necesita ☹️🕶️👍
Yea! no big bang music, looks like a 10-18 year old assembled. sounds and runs great.. sounds like a 4 banger.
Very cool, great job!
Thank you! Cheers buddy!
Nice! I know what I want for my birthday this year.
You won't regret it!
Merry Christmas AJ, and I hope you have an awesome new year.
Happy holidays Racheal! Happy new year to you!
Good video, Is it important where the counterweights on the flywheels go?
Amsterdam
Wauw what a pretty little machine ❤
If it rotates, oil it; if it slides, grease it.
Good tip!
Just found your channel and Subscribed. Very nice engine
Welcome to the team buddy!
Something's wrong with the con rod journal. Should not be that tight.
From India. Nice work. Very fine.
If I had this, I would attempt to turn it into a generator to charge 5V devices just for the heck of it. Nothing like a working engine.
A beautiful little engine nice interesting video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Retired Mech Eng here. Great post!
Awesome! Thank you!
Where did you source the fuel tank, base and spark plug? Or does the kit now come with these parts? 🙂
This little thing is pretty cool
The inertial governors on this small engine are really similar to that of a go kart motor that is driven off the cam
What I love is the valve clearance 😂 "How many thousands does it need, boss?"
"your gonna need a measuring tape, not a feeler gauge"
Hahaha pretty much, I kinda went by the eye.
and fuel needs an air vent to flow properly
What kind of grease did you use? Looks like a lithium grease? I couldn't find any direction in the manual on this.
I used molybdenum disulfide grease, but you gan use general purpose grease.
Creative video, thanks :)
Glad you liked it!
Beautiful but way too expensive for me 😢
You can get a a discount with my code. Hope it helps out!
Well if you want to hit or miss engine and you don't have a lot of room this isn't that bad way to go. Buying a fully restored engine will cost you about the same plus it takes up a lot of room. That little guy you could hide in your sock drawer away from the wife.😂
great job my friend
Thank you so much!😊
You should have used power tools, lol, I'm only kidding, beautiful engine, excellent video.
Haha thank you!
Good morning from Southeast South Dakota AJ
Hello Slimwantedman! Hope all is good!
Excellent viewing. If only I weren't the nervous hamfisted unluck person that I am.
That is awesome!!!
I wonder how long it will run till it falls apart without locktite.. LOL
Probably quite a while.
Very cool!
How Cool ! Where did You get it and what didnit aet You back ?

Cool engine, but what is the extra valve used for ? I'm definitely going to buy one. Thanks
I use the bottom valve to shut the engine down, I actually have no idea what its used for. Feel free to use my link and coupon, gives you extra discount.

It's the INLET valve! "Schnüffelventil"
The bottom valve is the Intake valve. It has a weaker spring on it that the piston will suck open on the down stroke. My full-size Sattley you actually hold it open with your finger to release the compression as you spin up the flywheel.
You scared me there in the first 15 seconds😮 pulling that knife towards your other hand like that…be more careful willyou😊
When I did the video editing I was like what the hell man! In retrospect I did cringe a little.
Do they have anything to belt up to this motor to run like a little pump or something?
I think they have a small little pump that works.
So cool.
Beautifull Well done Sir ! for Sale in the UK only or in Europe To?
Yes its shipped world wide.
That’s cool, I want one, till I saw the price.$400
It is rather pricey, but it is worth it with the all-stainless steel-milled parts. Use the link and my channel discount code. It could save you a few bucks.

Nice engine but how does the rod bearing get lubercated?
It is lubricated before each run, with a little bit of oil. Some user use grease.
Nice kit, and video display, but I wish you would narrate as you assemble.
Thank you, I don't do the narration thing, the steps are simple enough.
Bravo!!!
That's a precision piece of kit.
OK I'm suitably braced.. How Much does it cost ?😨
It's a great little engine, absolutely my favorite! It's $389.99 and with my coupon, you can get a 10% discount.

Do you live somewhere tropical? The birds sound tropical. cool video
They do sound tropical, but its more urban/suburban.
Exquisito 😍👍
would i be missing something i could not see lubrication for big and small end on piston con rod
Those are lubed before every use.
Where can you buy such a kit?

Great job 👍🏻
Thanks 😁
Maybe in a few years your kid can do a restoration video on it. 😂
Haha imagine! The entire body is stainless steel, the only parts that will rust are the bolts and nuts.
@@AJRestoration really? I thought it was cast and aluminium.
I saw this while visiting Joe Pie so here's a sub and a great build to you new friend. Some narration would have been nice eh. Same as others, What times the exhaust Valve ? Or how does it work. Sweet build new friend. Stop by when you can and check out my pouring pure silver. Kid friendly too.
Thanks for the sub buddy, welcome to the family haha! Ill take a peak!
Also I don't do narration, Its not my style.
Got ya. I haven't made a video in ages. There's just nothing left to show folks@@AJRestoration Same slow motion pours over and over.
L'absence de soutitrage est domage
❤
What do you do with it now days?
I aim to make a nice display shelf for a collection. There are more coming.
how much is the cost of this engine just like you show it?
It's $399.99 for the RTR model (RTR strands for ready-to-run)

Looks to be more than 7cc ?
I measured, its 7cc give or take.
where is the ignition? long time watching and waiting for that miracle!? The rest is fine
The ignition is in the little box at the back. Earlier in the video you can see the ignition box connected to the sparkplug.
Hi, I was fascinated by the little HM 01 engine, I followed your link to buy one, but when checking out, my bank wouldn't approve the transfer of money to Stirlingkitt.
Is Stirlingkitt a trustworthy company?
Sincerely, Toralf Heen
Hello there, yes they are a legit company. I have had many refferal sales with no issues or complaints.
👍❤️
Can someone explain the concept of a hit-and-miss engine to me? It sounds like every second cycle is a power stroke to my inexpert ears, but what do I know?
A hit-and-miss engine or Hit 'N' Miss is a type of stationary internal combustion engine that is controlled by a governor to only fire at a set speed. They are usually 4-stroke but 2-stroke versions were made. It was conceived in the late 19th century and produced by various companies from the 1890s through approximately the 1940s. The name comes from the speed control on these engines: they fire ("hit") only when operating at or below a set speed, and cycle without firing ("miss") when they exceed their set speed. This is as compared to the "throttle-governed" method of speed control. The sound made when the engine is running without a load is a distinctive "Snort POP whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh snort POP" as the engine fires and then coasts until the speed decreases and it fires again to maintain its average speed. The snorting is caused by the atmospheric intake valve used on many of these engines.
Many engine manufacturers made hit-and-miss engines during their peak use-from approximately 1910 through the early 1930s when more modern designs began to replace them. Some of the largest engine manufacturers were Stover, Hercules, International Harvester (McCormick Deering), John Deere (Waterloo Engine Works), Maytag, and Fairbanks Morse.
In the Canadian Atlantic Provinces, primarily in Newfoundland, these engines were known, in colloquial conversation, as "Make-and-Break" engines. The main usage here was to drive traditional skiff-style utility and fishing boats.
what fuel are you using?
I use 93 octane pump gas.
Awesome, why the kit when the assembled one is a few bucks more?
The self build kit is $10 less. Just checked for you. There 20% OFF Coupon Code : HM20 and there is my channel discount coupon also >AJRESTORATIONS
I have no idea, I noticed the assembled RTR model is $10 more. Personally I would buy the kit and assemble it, its way more fun.
@AJRestoration Exactly. There's plenty to be gained by building such a kit, fun, learning, satisfaction, etc. Like you, I would buy a kit over a ready built unit every time.
Me, too!@@AJRestoration
The fun is in assembling the engine. Ask any model-maker. At school...13 years old.... 1960.... l actually machined my own parts from stock material to make a steam engine and boiler in the metal work class.
Its awesome what?
Jip!
Vous avez vu le prix ?????? trop cher , c est un jouet pour les BoBos !!!!
if i want to purchase what i can do plz tel me adress
Check the video description, be sure to use my discount code for 10% off.
Sounds like it's got a real bad miss to it.
I'll show myself out...
Hahaha I would be worried if it didn't have a miss to it.
👍👍👍😎😎😎nice
Thanks 😁
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Too many self certified “expert” comments. If you can do better then do so.
I get that all the time haha, It does not bother me anymore
Exactly. 👍
If you play this at 400% speed using a Chrome extension, it's just fast enough to where you don't want to blow your brains out.
Hello Flash, how are you doing?
Beware using the constant running lever czcams.com/video/qYpkNPi3itc/video.htmlsi=j9ho3oTS72SvHiCB&t=265
Thanks for the heads up, Ill keep a look out for that.
Made in China by the way. :)
Correct!
Take a jog over to your nearest dictionary and look up the word "tiny".
Fine, make it super tiny then
the unboxing is really boring and the sound of the plastic bags annoying AF
You should use my link and buy one.
I didn't watch the whole video, but I stopped when I read the title of the instruction manual, identifying the item as a "4 stroke hit and miss engine". I don't see how it would be possible to be both a 4 stroke engine and still be a hit and miss engine. Depending on the load applied, the hit and miss will fire one time and then wait till the rpm's drop before firing again, while a 4 stroke engine will fire every other cycle of the crank/piston regardless of the load or rpm's. 💩
Watch the video, because its both ;-)💩
It's a 4 stroke engine in that it has the "suck squeeze bang blow" cycle like any other 4 stroke engine when it is under sufficient load. The difference is that instead of the speed being controlled by a throttle, a regulator makes it fire only when the revs drop below a set speed, so when it is not under load, it is effectively a 4 stroke engine with no ignition.
Wow, 24 minutes of bullshit out of 25 minutes video
Too much background noise. It sounds like you live next to a waterfall.
Haha if only!
it's really nice to have natural background noise and not the stupid music that a lot of CZcamsrs seem to think is necessary.
Taking too long.
A.J. always a pleasure to watch your videos !!! Nice toy but too expensive...just my opinion...👍👌❤️❤️❤️🛠⚙️🪛🏆🥇👑
It is a premium toy, but man is it a lot of fun!
