Surprise surprise, the Mig Switch actually showed up. After unboxing and checking it out, I wanted to give some of my thoughts on the first flash cart for Nintendo's hybrid system.

Does it taste bad like all Switch cartridges?
The real question
No. No it does not. How do I know? I have 2
@@Madblaster6 so despite the taste do like the product? Would you recommend it considering you have two?
@@Seansworld1996 No I do not. I have two on accident because I thought mine was never going to ship so I got an extra from someone who received a few

The Mig Switch is aimed towards people who don't want to install a modchip.
It’s actually cheaper to just send your switch to Wayayeo and get it modded. Also way easier to use. This is what I did
I thought you could only mod the version one switch
@@robert5235 nope, i have an OLED and lite modded
No offense but why do you think mofchips exists ? The older NS didn't need a modchip but when Nintendo released the Oled & the Lite they added new security measures
@@Tyrone-px4zfcuz they are patched lol
This is going to cause a nightmare for the 2nd hand games market if Nintendo start banning consoles based on a used unique game identifier! You won't be able to trust any used games!
At this point, piracy and used games are treated equally.
While devs don't earn extra money with used games. You at least have a security that your copy is untouched. Now even that is gone.
I have a number of switch games I have been meaning to sell. Will get around to it now in case this thing gets too popular and destroys the used game market.
@@AmoralTomit shouldn’t even come close and if it does we’ll good for them but I doubt it
Bad for GameStop, great for publishers and developers 😂........ Maybe 😂
@@Wesmoen While devs don't earn extra money with used games. I don't get this as the same can be
said for government and VAT if the devs did get paid twice then they need to get taxed twice.
I think pretty useless if can't get dumper, AT LEAST for someone like me that that just wants to back up personal library 😕😔
Na there’s a torrent with all games leaked
Same here
@@sharkboy980 But those games aren't his personal library. Each Switch game is uniquely identified and there's rumour that Nintendo will ban consoles caught playing the exact same game
The games actually run better through the mig
@@piffromney1916lol now that’s funny
99% of people who buy's this ain't backing up their games
there is no dumper lol. This is 100% piracy mcahine.
Yuuup. And it’s not just Nintendo or other AAA publishers/devs, big and small devs will have their games stolen, but only will tell if there’s any noticeable impact to them.
It's R4 all of again.
But this time, with a digital store.
@@fmccloud they can cope
I heard when this released the Doomsday Clock ticked over to midnight. We’re all DOOMED!!!
Nintendo definitely has these in-hand.
They were probably the first preorder
Nintendo was the first to get one lol.
Nintendo secretly funded this project to get people banned and force them to think on their sins/ buy new hardware
Is a nice device but is a little annoying to use.
Having to physically take the cartridge out and reinsert it just for a random game to pop-up and repeat the process until the game you're looking for finally appears will probably eventually trigger a failure on the cartridge reader.
There's a copy cat product already in the works called unlocked switch that is going to have a button on the cart that will let you cycle the games.
Why don't you build a product that's better? Oh wait you can't
@paddy1451 me when someone levies fair and valid criticism
it also triggered your momma
@@xnalaga That is exactly what I hoped for when we first heard about the MiG Switch. Once the PCB is in the wild, someone else will inevitably improve on it. And it sounds like that's the product that I'll eventually buy. I have hundreds of games - inserting and reinserting a flash card hundreds of times to scroll through games would be asinine.
I almost ordered mine the same day you did and backed out which I'm glad I did. I'm sure other options will show up or somebody will make it to where you don't have to reinsert it for every game. I can't imagine cycling through even 20 or 30 games let alone hundreds
Yeah that’s the biggest deal breaker with the device. Makes it a pure 💩 of a device.
They want $125 for the cart and the dumper, when I’ve seen people advertise modding services for around the same price. I guess the mig cart lets you keep the system stock, which is nice, but a modded system has a lot more utility and is way more convenient than clicking a cart a thousand times.
I love the little package that the MIG switch comes in.
cool ideea but hopefully they come up with an update where you dont have to tale the cart out to change games. its not worth wearing out the slot to cycle through games
At least when someone's at home, they could use one of those 4 -> 1 multi-game toggle adapters, that way they could save the cart slot and just switch the adapter back and forth to switch games. Not a perfect solution but it's cheap and works
I think John's idea of putting buttons on it would work the best tbh, maybe a scroll wheel even?
I mean wouldn’t it be the same wear and tear swapping out multiple cartridges as opposed to just one?
@@simply_mocha9369 Not if you put multiple games on it. With normal game cartridges the game you want is always one eject/insert away, but with a mig that has 3 or more games you will on average need more than one ejects/inserts to get the game you want.
Even with 2 games on the mig the wear would be worse since the mig seems to fail switching regularly as seen in the video.
In general, the wear can only be the same with just a single game on the mig.
There might be exceptions, like playing the games in the order the mig hands them to you (not sure if this can be manipulated), but I think that would end up being a pretty niche scenario.
----edit
just to be clear, since you might have missed this, you can not simply select the game you want with the mig, you need to cycle through the games (by ejecting/inserting) until the game that shows up happens to be the one you are looking for.
I actually got the dumper together with the cartridge last week or two weeks ago (can't remember when exactly). Works totally fine for me, I finally don't have to take all my games with me when traveling but just this one cartridge, very convenient :)
Who did you order from?
@@shawnbyrd4646From Migswitch store. They have finally started shipping in full swing.
From Migswitch Store. They have finally started shipping in full swing.
I feel like the one cart is nice but it does suck having to take it in and out to swap carts
The problem is, if you lose the switch or cartridge in the wild, your entire physical cartridge library is essential compromised.
This is way better then Rgt's video
That's because RGT was a moron
You knew it would be
Anything is better than RGT85
No surprise, the man is technologically inept
RGT is a Nintendo CZcamsr from the streets🙏
I only found out about the DS's R4 card in 2019, way after the DS was done. I got it and works flawlessly with no time bomb in it. I might do the same for the switch after some time passes when it's done to get something like this. This is intriguing and continent for my large physical library, but I'm by no means in a super hurry to get one at the moment.
Well they might just be selling for a minimum amount of time.
@@Lon1an There's another one UnlockedSwitch which is a "clone" of this so there are other people who are gonna make their own even if this is a timed or temporary release.
What about 3DS?

Glad I got most of the physical games I want for Switch. Who knows how many cartridges are gonna get ruined because of this.

It’s shit without the dumper, just “hack a switch” got it did that cool

I can honestly see this thing causing cartridge slot failures
There's a copycat version yet to be released that will come with a button to cycle games without ejecting the cart.

@owenjbrady I mean, it says "made in Russia" on the back of the box.
@@CompComp Surely they wouldn't lie about that, right? /s
Can you modify the games running on mig cartridge without needing to mod the switch’s software? Like with atmosphere, etc.
no
Can it be used to backup a digital purchase to cartridge form? Because that’s where I could see value with this so I could move the game to another system without having to verify with Nintendo online that I have the right to the game I already purchased.
No, since it needs all of the stuff on the cartridge, like security stuff and whatnot. The digital purchase is a rom that lacks the other stuff that would be on the cartridge, so it can’t back up digital purchases.
This technology is going to be awesome in 10 years.
I ordered from modded hardware as well and there's been no update in regards to anything regarding my order.
The little dancing Russian guy above the the loading bar is the perfect touch
I'm curious about the logistics of another way of handling it. If you could use a donor game you own to make it look legit while running, but actually running illegitimate games, similar to how the r4s would show up as a different game, but using your own legit donor to mask it better.
I would actually like an official back up solution similar to this. Fitting several games on a SD card and then safely store the original cartridges. As much as I like cartridges, they are a bit of a hassle to carry around. Buying digital is not a solution. Rewritable storage will fail eventually, I know from experience, but I have cartridges from the 80's that all still work.
Good to see people who ordered from modded hardware actually getting it. I ordered from them and still haven't received it or an email update. Did you get an email saying that it shipped?
I ordered mine from them Jan 3rd. I just got it May 24th. Didn't get an update email that it was shipped. Just showed up at my door.
@@seankitchen1549 I actually got mine the same day, May 24th. No shipping notification either
Better choice is being able to dump and load your games to the sd card slot on the Switch itself. Get one that’s a couple of Tbs and you’re good to go. Plus they ALL load in at once no need to cycle through to break a connection to the system.
I'm curious to know if I'll be able to use the dumper to play my copies on my deck easily.
Overall very skeptical of this hardware. Especially with the weird release hiccups.
I ordered one from that website too. I had kind of figured it was never coming this is shocking and I'll have to keep a lookout in the mail.
I'm pretty sure all the people who did they received orders from modded hardware on Reddit are just shills and I'm sure being a CZcamsr means you I'll definitely get your order.
Being that the guy has taken thousands of orders and only shipped out a hundred or so I wouldn't count on modded hardware.
He promised that everyone would have what they paid for months ago then radio silence
I got mine today...I'm a nobody. Just the card tho...no dumper :(
I received mine today after 6 months
Update: Received it today.
It was too hard for RGT to figure out LMAO 🤣

The only reason I could ever see myself getting one of these would be to preserve any digital-only titles and save on storage. But given that only 5% of the games I own are digital, and that the current eShop catalogue will most likely be utilized into the Switch's Successor, it makes the MIG a bit redundant in my eyes.
They're really going to have to come out with a revision that doesn't require you to pull the Mig, or at least have a button that you can press on the cartridge.
Once they get the buttons on there it would be great for traveling.
What’s the highest support sd card supported for the mig switch?
how did you get one ? None of the sites I've tried work. half don't work and half don't even exist. I just get errors that say Site Can't Be Accessed.
I could make good of this to be fair. I currently have a hacked switch and a few unhacked for playing online. But I would like to get an OLED for travelling with, but don't want to take my games when travelling. So yeah, I could make some good use of this, backing up my bought games to take with me and play on an OLED. I have no issue with buying my games, but I could do without risking them when travelling.
Really cool that it works. But yeah a button is a must
Still waiting for mine, ordered same time you put up a video about it. Emailed to cancel the order and never got a response.
Funded the war
I wonder if these will ever be used to access cfw type installer down the line, using this cart like an NTD cart from the 3ds days or even the gateway 3ds etc... it would absolutely be an easier access point than anything else we have seen so far..
I had the Mig Switch back in May or earlier so I am waiting for the "Dumper" to test and try it out.
So I'm a bit unclear on how this works. I don't have a hacked switch & want to back up my cartridges to play the games on my Steam Deck. Do I need BOTH the Mig Switch & Dumper? Or does the dumper alone allow me to insert my game cartridges & upload the files to my computer? Based on my understanding the Mig Switch simply allows you to circulate games on one cartridge rather than having to swap them out if you want to play a different title.
This really appeals to me. I love my Switch and I’m a big fan of physical media. Being able to tote my switch around with all of my games on a single card is a big plus.
The hardware for actually copying the cards doesn't exist. Even if it did, you'd kill your slot eventually.
Im not an expert in soldering .. but is it just me or are those solder too matte? like it was not melted properly? what are the chances that those solder job gets dislodge when you drop the cart at a sufficient enough height?
When using the mig switch after playing a game from it locks the mig to that specific game to "unlock it" after being done with that game insert that mig and as soon as you see a green light remove the mig then back in to then cycle through the games again
I wonder if the load times and performance for the MIG Switch cartridge are comparable to stock Switch cartridges; I recall a video from a while back mentioning the SD card slot version of games loads a hair slower than the stock Switch cartridge versions 🤔.
No different to when you use a memory card directly in your switch
It might be a bit interesting to run a tcpdump in between your switch and your RG to see what it’s doing. You should even be able to run this from your modded switch. Also, I find it interesting that the CZcamsrs got their orders…I’m still waiting for mine and I want to do some hardware/software hacking to find out exactly what’s going on as this thing is loaded.
Glad I bought from Modded hardware, as it seems I will actually get mine at some point. Gonna need that dumper too
Shawn was so confused
I ordered this from 4 places, three of which were stores from the Website. The only one that deleted was the same place you ordered from. I just got the mig-switch dumper from that store. The rest???
There are some carts that have multiple games (SEGA loves doing this) and it'll put all of the games on the homescreen immediately. Once they figure out how to do that with this device, that'll be a game changer
They should have included a reset button on the mig cartridge, it would be easier to change games and it would protect the console slot
First impression, looks like Mao Zedong's red book. I love the marketing.
My question is since your using a hacked switch to back up games, what about digital only games, could you back it up and play it from the cartridge
No. Has to be a dump from a physical game.
I'd pick a hacked switch over the mig but nobody offers the service around me and the few places online that offer the service cost more than the mig/dumper and ya know.. you are sending off your $200+ machine to a total stranger. So yea, there is a large market for this.
Just got my Mig-Switch and Dumper Tool in the mail. Most likely going to use the dumper to play solo/offline games on a PC and online game using the Mig-Switch so don't need to swap out/have a bag of games on me.
Yes, I'm backing up my own games. LOL, not looking to get banned using copies.
For all who think there is no dumper tool, your wrong there is one but maybe sold out right now as I order my unit long ago.
So i don't need to mod my switch and buy mig switch and download roms on it without mod?
I wonder which store he bought it from. I've had radio silence on my pre-order as well.
He says it’s from Modded Hardware in the video.
Buying used games could be a bit sketchy as well. There are a couple of MiG Switch dumper reviews on CZcams.
Remember the Sky3DS+? It had 2 buttons on the top to cycle through 3DS games.
I got the dumper today and still waiting on my mig switch card. Looking forward to the new nitro deck+ .
I got my MiG switch cart I think a month or so ago. And just got the email for the dumper being on its way the other day.
This MIG switch card needs to either have a button at side sticking out of the reader OR a small bluetooth remote which lets you send a cycle command one fwd, one bwd, 10 fwd, 10 bwd. Hopefully chinese clonium makes that possible soon.
Keep me far, far, away. It could damage my input slot anyways.
Would be neat if there was a way to run an FTP server like the MemCard Pro, and then you could just choose the game through a web interface.
Anybody know where we can get some unique identifiers for those of us that want to sale the high seas
I still have the Xecutor SXOS hack device and my Switch on like version 11 of the firmware. I am missing nothing by keeping it on an old firmware and offline.
!!!DO NOT ORDER FROM MODDED HARDWARE!!! I did the order the same day Spawn wave released the video where he showed he was purchasing one from them (so end of the year) not only they didn’t sent the Mig swith yet, but they didn’t answered to the messages , to the point that i requested a refound, that still didn’t happened. So i’m quite sure they are scamming people around. BE VERY CAREFUL!!!
Yeah man he's selective scamming at best
Do a chargeback, fraud is why it exists.
Ordered mine from MH as well. Months of silence and no responses to my emails. Just when I was going to inquire for refund it showed up randomly at my door. Never even got an email saying it was shipped. Still might not buy from them again.
What game is that at 8:39 ?
Never mind it’s tales of vesperia

The packaging is hilarious
Wasn't there a sonic game cartridge that loaded up 2 titles simultaneously? Has anyone tried to partition the SD card to see if more than 1 title can load at once?
But why even get the MIG if you can already back up games on a hacked Switch without one?
I ordered from the same website and got it a couple of days ago.
60 USD is very expensive for a chip.
Modding a V1 is still my favorite option
Spawn wave backing up and dumping No diddy 😂😂😂😂😂
My theory is Nintendo with the Switch 2 will not make it backward compatible with Switch cartridges because of this, and any backward compatibility will be digital titles only.
I could live with that, but I won't be happy about it.
The only way that would be acceptable to the general public is if the bandwidth of the Switch 2 cartridge ports is WAY faster.
Yeah, I think if the Nintendo Switch 2 isn’t backwards compatible it’s definitely for a reason like this. I definitely believe Nintendo would implement full BC if they were sure it wouldn’t end up being exploited.
Hopefully they find a way to implement it even if digital only, cause needing to carry and swap between two handhelds would be a nuisance.
Nah dawg if they don’t have backwards compatibility u shouldn’t buy it. What about the people who don’t use mig switch or something similar. They wouldn’t be able to get used games for cheaper and tbh Nintendo deserves their games to be pirated, selling games that came out more than a decade ago for 60 and never receiving a price drop. Not bring back the games people actually want. People need to stop accepting Nintendos practices but they keep buying in so they don’t change.
@@tacoxshinobi Yeah, I kinda agree. Lack of backwards compatibility can be a deal breaker, especially on a portable system.
But something that can be exploited like this, I totally get it.
Get a small game case, for the tiny cartridge’s. Select the game you want from the small case. No need to scroll through all the games you have. Life hack.
Still waiting on a V2 Switch jailbreak.
Nintendo's Software is minimalistic and super-secure, we won't get lucky again finding a fault in the hardware like with the V1
We'll never get a V2 software jb, at least not in this decade
MIGswitch V2 cart is coming out and you won’t have to eject and reinsert the cart to cycle roms.
Sooooo if I'm not paying for the god awful online and turn off WiFi, I'm probably fine on the "unique identifier" front, right?
I wish it worked like the physical version of Pikmen 1 + 2. For that one both games just show up on the screen at the same time.
Wasn't expecting this video drop today.
If they can fix the game selecting this would be golden. maybe a refresh button or button in general would be better.
Lol is all i can say. Good luck folks.
My only worry about the mig switch are people that buy games for the express purpose of dumping them and then returning it back to the store. Would be really shitty to buy something pre-owned and getting banned because someone with the same certificate was already playing it. But yeah, i would be more interested in the dumper more then the cart itself so that i could dump my personal game collection to play readily on other devices.
Great video!
It would be funny if Nintendo's only way of combatting the Mig switch would be to revising the shell of the Switch so the door of the game cartridge slot needs to be closed. I think they did this with the Game Genie for the NES.
Once you play a game it locks it in. You have to quickly push it in and out to go to the next game and start the cycle over. It’s a feature.
Spawnwave showing off a hacked switch with $100+ Zelda joycons. Nintendo ninjas are coming.
it definitely is a unique tech with many usability, but a moded switch lite is far more useful and quite cheap if you dig well .
i do not think that the ban is possible , unless they wanna destroy second hand market .
How would they detect it unless multiple certificates? I have been online with cert files that were public and didn't get banned. Just luck but if it's your cert and nobody else has it. There is gonna be no possible way for them to tell. The butron ideal would be easy and perfect. I dont see any way for them to block this. Even if they did they will just update this to fix nintendos patch. But I think this is gonna be like the recovery mode on the orignal tegra chip. Something that would require a hardware chnage to patch.
i cancelled my order and got my money back and it still arrived in the mail today
The only thing i think about this is... it's stupid, the picofly modchip is literally 20$ and allows for both functionalities, the mig reader and cartridge.
And the latest revisions of the flex cables for the picofly make it stupidly easy to install even with no previous soldering experience.
but flashcard is extremely easy to use especially if the person doesnt want to do hardware mods. Hardware mods require soldering skills that not everyone has and not everyone has easy access to people who do the service and can be trusted
Im very torn on this....
I got mine with the dumper today.
If I pirate a game on the mig and don't connect the switch to internet I shouldn't worry about getting ban don't I?
Yep without the dumper it's pointless for me because I don't ever plan on modding a switch too much work LOL and then my main concern like you're talking about popping it in and out constantly would eventually wear out something
I've heard Nintendo will ban Switches that use this device. What's the word on this? Or I assume use this only via offline with never connecting to the internet?
