Two little baby stockings on the kitchen island..... A subliminal message or just decoration 😁 Sail Safe guys.
Loved Ava's walk, added another aspect to the channel.
12:21 Mads, how smoothly you went from history to DIY😂😂😂
Even during the winter you're still a travel channel as Ava takes her 'walkabouts'! And once again I am so much more knowledgable now than I was 30 minutes ago! Thank you so much for being a great couple and being fun to watch. Merry Christmas!
Your electronic skills never fail to impress
Hands down the BEST sailing channel on CZcams! So entertaining. Thanks for giving me something to look forward to on Sundays!
ikr? My schedule changed and cannot watch all my old yt's, but I alway try to catch this one! Love diy & the additional history stuff now is really fun!
But they don't do any sailing?
@@mabamabam now and then, but this is mostly the nuts and bolts of care/repair for sailboats
Sailing?🤷♂️

There is a number in the foot of the mast. Email it to selden or call them and you get all the info about the mast.
How this channel doesn’t have a million subs I don’t understand. This is by far the best DIY marine channel ever.
As for the new sails, measuring the old ones may not be good enough if you don't know for sure about their performance. Selden masts do have a unique production number cut into their foot. Just send it to Selden and you will get any info you need.
Love Ava's going on a walk adventures, a really good interlude to the boat work :)
Another great episode! Showcasing the place I call home. This episode featured the bow of my yacht in the background of a sail measuring shot 😍
I can't imagine why you are ordering sails from Canada whilst being in the very heart of 600 years of sail making history.
Canada? I though the company was based in Canada, but the sails are made in a country that is more known of junk sails.
The same reason I did designed in Canada made in China cheaper than they can be made in the uk go figure. The quality for price can’t be beaten.
That explosion museum sounds like a blast!
Virtually a deluxe new boat, a soon to be lovely new wife, and a new year filled with new destinations and adventure. You two have a lot to look forward too.
Good job Mads. Really enjoyed the Gosport tour Ava - love all that history.
I love your intro when you say “somewhat extensive refit.” Understatement extraordinaire!
Thanks for the historical tour. I really enjoy that you take us on walks with you. Happy Holidays! Can't believe that your next video will be on Boxing Day. Time flies. Take care & stay safe.
Your channel was always great but now with the addition of Ava it's even better! Thanks for sharing.
I always recommend cleaning all new fuel line’s before installing and all fittings after assembly if possible. You would be surprised of the trash in the new line and fittings
Thanks for the tour Ava. New sails will be great to see.
I always get a laugh when you say you have done a "some what" extensive refit. Athena looks amazing and I love how informative your videos are. Thank you for sharing. Merry Christmas!
Mike's not here
Mads, your videos get better all the time. The great DIY fun mixed with island tours is awesome. 💛💚💙👍👍⛵
Glad you’re enjoying Gosport, history around every corner. Happy Christmas!
Those little stockings on the side of the island are really cute. 🤔 Is there something you're not telling us? 🤨
Nah, forget it.🤐 Merry Christmas🎄
What?? No pic of Athena decorated with her Christmas lights? Awwww. Happy Christmas and Happy New Year!
I spent Christmas in Portsmouth and it is so fun seeing you going the places I was! Love the channel, keep up the good work!
Hey Ava! Glad to hear you're refurbishing the website.
Something I'd love to see is a project list/ product recommendation by project.
It would be really nice to be able to search a list of the product you guys used and any recommendations about them. Thanks!
Merry Christmas to the two of you from USA Georgia waving 4 fingers and 1 thumb!! 👋
Mads gave us all " spiffy", and after a short time in the UK, we gave him " shite!" 😆
Ha. That's just what I was thinking.
Great job with walking around and showing us what you’re seeing.👍
Looking closely, I would say there is Christmas decorating and then there is Ava Christmas decorating. Thank you Ava and Mads for another spiffy episode. Merry Christmas to you.
Great Videos Mads. Thank you for showing how easy it is to measure for new sails! The entire Precision Sails' Team is excited to work with Sail Life!
I LOVE you, Ava!💕💕💕
Wishing you both a very merry Christmas and an exciting New Year. In the meantime, stay safe
Great channel! I learn so much watching you guys before I do it myself. What I use a lot of time doing, is to look back on older videos to find brands and tricks on gear and products, so it would be nice to have a list of all gear and products and favorite tools
I quite like Ava a lot, she just complements you perfectly with her constant giggling and laughter. You're a tad bit reserved and not really a guy who seems like the type to let loose and just send it much. Just saying she's wonderful, and hope you two are getting on well so far.
It sounds weird to say. One of the things I love about your channel is your positivity. Even when things are going bad, you try to look at it positively. ... Thanks I for one appreciate it. Happy Holidays to everyone.
Thanks, Ava. Always enjoy your walks.
I made a DIY diesel polisher, with a timer, it runs everyday or around 30min. picking up from the very bottom of the tank, and returnin on the opposite side, at top.
Zero fuel problems after that. Tank is clean!!
(no more concerne of leaving it full all the time, all the water ends up in the Racor and it is easy to spot and drain).
I had been super happy with Precision Sails when getting a ne head and jib sail.
Hopefully the year in review gives us a look at how things are working. I still haven't seen any shots from the mast camera. Merry Christmas to both of you and keep the great videos coming. It's an inspiration to all of us who can't get on the water.
LOL. Ava struggling with that cart looked like an old Babushka fussing with her household wares. Hilarious!
Boy! 46 degrees sounds great. Here in Upper MIchigan we just went through below Zero temps and 45 to 55 mph winds off Lake Michigan driving sand and snow all over our lake front home and property. BUT! in only 4 months were back in the water and sailing Lake Michigan again. Love your videos and tour of the town. If it wasn't for covid we might take a flight to Europe. Jim Hansen Catalina 36
Merry Christmas, Ava and Mads. I hope you enjoy a great English Christmas. Best wishes from Yorkshire.
Merry Christmas to all of you
I just wanted to say that I watched ALL of your videos and finally I am caught up to present day. You have done a wonderful job my friend and with each skill you added so much more and continue to show me that anything can be done given the time and the perserverance to stay with it. I'm sure many would have sacrified or not even attempted all the things you did on your own just to simply get in the water, most I think would never had tried making what you did so much more worthy. I personally like all the gadgets and electrical stuff annd from your track lighting maybe add a Defuser for the lights to make them a little softer. From all that you have done I am surprized you never got a sponsor from any electrical tool companies as you showed them off so well.
Lastly on this day i wish both of you a Merry Christmas and wish you nothing but fun and smooth sailing in the next year, also I have a feeling you two are going to tie the knot sooner than expected and all the better in my opinion as you two make a great couple. You found your girl finally so treat eachother like you would like to be treated and that is in the best possible way.
May your Christmas diesel be ever red...and never green!
Merry Christmas Ava and Mads.
You could have shown of your Christmas lights again, was so nice :)
Quite simply, you are amazing. Wishing you all a very merry Christmas and an awesome 2022
Only joined here, but I’ve watched from where you left Denmark, so I guess you’ve hooked me. So right back to the start I go 😉
Love the new intro. :)
Thank you. From Spring Green, Wisconsin USA
Merry Christmas Mads and Eva. I hope you have a great time.
Great vlog as always guys, thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hadn’t thought about adding timer to polisher, makes a lot of sense.
Awesome project crossed off the list! Thanks for the upload.
Another great video Mads and Ava .
Merry Christmas to you both, may your future year be full of love, joy and happiness. From West Texas.
Merry Christmas Mads & Ava from Texas!🌲
Great work this year! Congrats!
Mads, I have used Racors for years. Depending on your space, you might wish to go with a series twin setup for polishing, 30 micron (red end cap) primary polishing filter. then10 micron (blue end caps) for the secondary polishing filter. Then the final 2 micron (brown end caps) for the engine/genset feeds, from the day tank. You will need to talk to the supplier to get restriction gauges for each filter, and installation hints, makes life easier. Stock filters by the case lot. Way way cheaper than injectors and safer as well.
Best wishes from the far North.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Mobile, Alabama, USA!
You have great neighbours. Say hi to the crew from Nomad. Probably the best sail training school in the south coast.
Whose little baby stockings were left hanging on the galley island at the end (before “Sea Yoo” ) ?
Excellent video!
Hi there as usual your 20 steps ahead of everyone else with such detail. Excellent vlog it may be worth checking out sailing Cadoah who had mega problems with fuel filtering lots of gunk. They they finally fitted a Diesel Dipper new product on the market. Worth checking out but I’m sure you have it covered. Keep the good work up and have a great festive season looking forward to the next episode . Roy
Merry Christmas to you both. Thanks for your company this past year and best wishes for the future.
We have the same timer as yours and it's a pita to programme. At one point the Chinglish manual says "do not set crossly" - which is definitely good advice for its frustrating user interface. The phrase has become our family motto for any tricky IT setups...
Merry Xmas! You both look very happy to be together!
The unicorn on the coat of arms represents Scotland and the unicorn is in chains make of that what you will 😞 oh and I loved your Scottish pronunciation of the word “shite” good effort Mads 😂👌🏼
Season's greetings to both of you!
Love watching your videos. Wishing you both a very merry Christmas.
looks great and i am sure you're going to love the new sails. have a very merry Christmas and happy sailing
Merry Christmas and a hopefully happy 2022 you two and your families. Love from Australia.
How was the explosive museum?
> Great! I had a blast!
Merry Christmas Ava and Mads. I hope you have a great holiday season.
Another super fun and instructive vid. Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas to you both, I’ve truly enjoyed watching every single video…don’t stop sharing!
always good stuff folks.....thx
Great video, thanks.
Hi , have a great Christmas , thanks for trip along the way . It is all looking very SPIFFEY .
Happy holidays to both you guys. I love your channel and am looking forward to 2022 and beyond. 🇨🇦
Merry Christmas and welcome to England, stay safe and keep the brilliant videos coming 🎄🎄🎄🎄
Happy Christmas to both of you as well. Look forward to seeing you in Australia some time
Merry Christmas, I have been enjoying you progress for the last two years, all I can add is well done and thank you.
Have a Blessed Christmas!
Merry Christmas! Love your videos.
I am looking at also turning one of my tanks into a "day tank" and keeping the other two as "storage tanks", it's great to know that you have clean fuel. I would like to point out however as others probably have, that you have one major thing backwards. The "day tank" i.e. the one your engine runs off of should be the one that can only be filled from another tank. You should never be able to fill the day tank directly from deck in other words. The fuel is always transferred from your "storage tanks" to your "day tank" which is often roughly about 24 hrs worth of fuel capacity and you know that this fuel has been through your polisher to get there. Obviously, Mads has some space and location constraints, but it should be stressed that his is not the normal setup.
This really is a great channel. Merry Christmas to all.
I’m sure you’re already aware, but you don’t want to leave the tanks partially full. Doing so can contribute to condensation which introduces water to the fuel.
Having a plastic tank, insulated and in the middle of the living area should reduce the chance of that one producing condensation...
I dont know if its internally baffled though ... let alone the chance of air bubbles making it as far as the engine...
@@clivestainlesssteelwomble7665 He put baffles in both tanks (pretty sure)
I hope you have a great Christmas time and may you be blessed with everything good. Here from a rainy Sibani South Africa.
I love your channel, the best yacht diy on CZcams.
I think you should check your tank filler cap is sealed or better still move it to a protected location. I am very surprised by the amount of water you have in the diesel fuel, you should not have that amount in such a short time. Yes, diesel does often come supplied with a small amount of water, but not that amount. I suspect you may have another problem. When I saw you install the diesel filler cap on the cockpit sole I thought that is a potential problem. I had water contamination problems over a number of years and was cleaning out the tank every year. I discovered it was the tank filler cap not sealing and rain water getting in, problem solved. Also, although it's good practice to fill tanks to reduce condensation, modern diesel contains bio and this can make the fuel go bad after a few months. Having too much fuel stored could be a problem. The fuel dipper used by Cadoha looks a good option for reducing water and better than a straight filter system. The fuel will be polished by your normal filter and recirculation of diesel from the engine. It's mostly the water contamination that starts the problem.
Also, if you have two tanks, it's good practice to keep them separate, in case one gets contaminated, then you have an alternative.
Great channel and Merry Christmas to you both.
I'm thinking for boats leaving shore that a fuel polisher is a necessity. Or for those who are not in for some relaxing times of trying to figure out what happened to their diesel engine five miles off shore. and of course having that nice polishing of fuel when taking on new fuel and never having to pour from a fiver again. Look for dolphins or something with your spare time. A vacuum gage on the polisher is always handy when checking the filter too.
FYI my Sail life shirt is still my favorite.
It does my heart good to see you tape before applying silicone caulk
Merry Christmas for both of you and all the other viewers
If you like history, come over to Portsmouth and visit Southsea Castle, the round and square towers. If you can get there, Fort Nelson on top of Portsdown Hill is definitely worth a visit!
Merry Christmas! Ava those walkabouts are great! Love it if there is some eclectic little Christmas shop or local Christmas food tradition or some other odd and fun stuff you can dig up.
Merry Christmas to both of you, I really enjoy the videos.
