    Great tutorial! These steps are the hidden secrets to pro quality customization and ensure high durability of your paint job. Most customizers leave these details out or just don’t do it themselves so I applaud you for taking the time and effort to show us mortals. 😁

    As a customizer I really appreciate these videos! Always wondered how to safely crack open a custom and prep for painting! Thanks for doing this!

      +Marvelocity_26 Thanks for watching! I'm happy people are getting good stuff out of it! I learned most of this on my own from fucking up my own customs. It's only recently have I learned to fully disassemble and make sure the prep work is good. Let me know if you want to see anything specifically! I'll be happy to try and give whatever "expertise" I have!

      +Clay Orr You've pretty much showed me everything I need to know lol. Even started another custom using your methods! Already prepped and put back together lol. Worked perfectly.

    the super glue idea is clever! i never thought of that :) im gonna retool/repaint a few NECA aliens (because i like the SDCC exclusive repaint but im not willing to pay 5 times what id pay for a generic one of a similar build)

    Is the super glue used as a gloss or is it to hold the pieces together ? How do you put the other pieces together if they’re already glued ?

    Bro, how about for Female marvel Legends where do i put holes before cracking? same areas as this bucky cap mold?
    thanks for the reply, id appreciate it.

    • @aaronhamill6237
      @aaronhamill6237 Před 6 lety +2

      The modern female molds just pop apart. No cracking required

  • @robodobro

    you don't sand down the rest of the areas you plan on painting to help it adhere better?

    • @3rdstrikeryu102
      @3rdstrikeryu102 Před rokem

      You just need to use primer on those areas for the paint to adhere.

  • @orculas7149
    @orculas7149 Před 6 lety

    ok so this is going to sound really stupid but why do you drimel the figure?

  • @manimprettyhorny7291

    Do you know any type of paint that you can't scratch off?

    • @ExDragonMaster
      @ExDragonMaster Před 3 lety +1

      Most paints can get damaged to some extent. Usually, to help reduce this:
      1) Sand whatever you're painting first
      2) Use a paint primer for plastics
      3) Lacquer paint for plastic is the most durable. Enamel and acrylic are less durable, but the next step helps this along.
      4) Use a clear topcoat.
      The first 2 steps give more of a surface for your paint to grip into.
      Lacquer is the most durable paint. But it dries REALLY quickly. So it's strongly recommended that you use an airbrush for lacquer paint.
      Using a clear topcoat creates a protective layer over the paint.
      Now if you do all of these steps, be very careful around joints. Painting them makes them thicker. So it becomes more prone to paint rub and makes the joint a lot stiffer. Sanding it down before painting (this makes the joint looser before painting) will help with this. But you still have to be careful.

    Do you ever prime the figure with a neutral black or white, prior to painting?

  • @DiakuKoi
    @DiakuKoi Před 7 lety

    Oh so the super glue protects the paint job

  • @creatixstudios8889
    @creatixstudios8889 Před 5 lety +1

    Or instead of putting super glue on top of paint, just use enamel paint...
