Takuya Kimura is a famous actor/singer in Japan, and he's acting as the main character for this game. Since it's his voice, I can see why they don't have karaoke. It'd be an expensive effort, I think.
This would make a lot of sense if Kiryu’s voice actor wasn’t also a singer
Jack Swift Sometime during the development supposedly, he wasn’t originally a singer when voicing Kiryu is all I know on that subject.

@@jackswift2152 You're a moron, you cannot really compare Takuya Kimura to Takaya Kuroda popularity wise, one is a former member of one of THE most popular boybands in Asia of all time, is a literal Japanese idol and appears in everything in Japan, and the other is a voice actor that has a relatively small band and has been singing for Yakuza karaoke since Yakuza 3.
Its like comparing DiCaprio or fuckin Brad Pitt to Troy Baker, and even then Troy Baker is a much more famous VA in the West than Takaya Kuroda is in Japan.

Yakuza is slowly creeping into my top 5 franchises of all time. I am really glad this spin off has the same fun an "magic" of the core series. Thank you so much for this spotlight on this specifically now i can get it next month.

@@@fictionarch In no real order Fallout (which has gotten watered down bad fallout 4 an now utter shit fallout 76... Elder Scrolls franchise tho again will be on the down swing when the new one comes out as Skyrim was fun but so watered down compared to Oblviion or Morrowind. The Half Life Games, The Bioshock games and lastly the Yakuza games just edging out my love of the old Castlevania games (bloodstained is amazing by the way) would be my top 5. @@michaelcoffey1991 Would you say a Japan and anime lover would like it? I've been intrigued by the Yakuza series for quite a long time now, but I'm afraid playing through a total of seven games that look full of all kinds of stuff (side activities, quests, NPCs) would take too much time 😭
@@luigicrisci7637 I THINK you would yea but right now you can get the first Yakuza now called Yakuza 0 for like 20$ play that so you do not waste a ton of money on Judgement and if you love it or even like it then Judgement will go down 10 to 20$ for thanksgiving an you can pick it up then :) my best advice Oh an wife and i love anime too thanks for the response :)

@@adistefano_ Kiwami is a remake of Yakuza 1, that was released in 2005, the year we play the most of the game in, Kiwami 2 is a remake of Yakuza 2, which was released and is set in 2006, 0 is indeed set in the 80s but OP specifically stated that 0 did not count
And for the other commenter that talked about Ishin, if you aren't being sarcastic, Ishin is consnidered a spin-off, another thing that OP stated did not apply to the rule

Loving this game. The attention to detail they put into this and other yakuza games is stellar.
Phenomenal game, love the Yakuza games. After Yakuza 6, I was wondering what's next. I'm only in chapter 3 and I'm close to already 20 hours in of just playing the game and really enjoying it; loving side quests, darts, Sega arcades, making friends with NPCs, and a lot more! Also, a great game to pick up for anyone who hasn't played yakuza games yet.
Jonathan Robinson I’m in chapter 4 and have played for about 23 hours. Loving everything about the game. Even the tailing missions aren’t that bad (definitely better than chapter 3 in MGS4).
How good is the story out of 10 ?
Yakuza is so damn good! Just answering the phone in Yakuza 0 is better than half the games on the PS4.

Should I play yakazu 0 before I play this game? I’ve never played any games in the yakazu series.
@@jongriffin6004 It's the same setting(the city- Kamurocho). But I doubt it would be related. May be a cameo here and there. Yakuza 0 is a starter for Yakuza Path ( criminal path). This one, you play as Cop
@@jongriffin6004 No. Different series entirely although Judgment takes place in the city that's in every Yakuza game with a story that is heavily influenced my Yakuza lifestyle. The flair is like the Yakuza games, the feel is a more fluid yakuza with detective elements. Somehow every Yakuza reuses assets heavily, yet the games always feel unique.
Just beat the game it was fantastic.
Loved the story and the characters and like all the games in Yakuza universe before it great side stories.
Also love seeing how the the city changed from the first Yakuza 1 which took place in 2005 all the way to Judgement in 2018 or 2019.
The studio does a great job of showing how the city changes yet stays the same through all the games.
Yeah, I knew it was kamurocho as soon as he showed a bit of the walking around, even though I haven't played the game yet
Judgment is an absolutely amazing game so I can't wait till we get a sequel. Definitely my game of 2019 along with MK11. I would love to see a Yakuza game where both Yakuza and Judgment characters share a same game together. How badass would it be if Kiryu, Majima, Yagami, Kaito etc all are in the same game? I'd definitely buy it day one if they ever made a game merging Yakuza and Judgment characters.
You always sell me in the games that i have a bit of doubt in. Out of the 10-15 games i purchased after watching the Before You Buy i have never been disappointed, cause i know what im getting into. Thanks again.
I'll but it, anyway. Sega tried really hard on reviving almost the entire yakuza series, they also brought it to the west. It is also made by the same team, so eff it. Least I can do is support them.
How am I just finding this game and its sequel now? Only a few hours in and I can already tell that this is gonna be an amazing game.

Nick Rios Funny, but there are about a hundred ways that it's not possible.
They both have drastically different ways of speaking, annunciating and their vocal patterns are different too.
Most obvious though is how they each articulate things, Falcon is casual and relies on common emphasis, Jake is formal with a touch of casual and relies on explanation or elaboration.

Just bought this game from Black Friday sales. It’s been an interest of mine for ages as well as the Yakuza games. I haven’t played any and I think it’s time. I’m going to play this game and see where it takes me. As much as I loved Sleeping Dogs, it has drawn my interest to the Yakuza series.
Got bored and saw this free on PS Plus and grabbed it. I'm about 20 hours in and having a great time. I loved the Yakuza games and this is a great blend of those and being a detective. Great review!

I’m playing lost judgment and only just found out that it’s actually the second in a series- love the yakuza games so definitely going to go and buy this and play it after I finish lost judgment

I’ve never played a Yakuza game before but I always meant to since I’ve heard good things about it. This game reminds me of Shenmue though, walking around a big open world while investigating, talking to people, fighting, qte’s, playing old Sega games but modern of course.

I stumbled upon Kiwami by accident. I fell in love with it immediately. I bought Kiwami 2, 6, and 0 before I even finished. After finishing Kiwami, I started 0 and preordered the 3-5 collection. Now I have to grab Judgment. This series obviously sucks. Lol

Never played a Yakuza Game and I regret it after playing Judgment. This game is a masterpiece and should get more attention. Although im not a fan of a arcade like games but still this one makes up for it with the story !

got the copy early, like 4 days ago and complete it today. Not really direct connection to Kiryu but fun and enjoyable nonetheless. 9/10 would recommend duh.

Only played a bit of yakuza 3 years ago too much dialogue reading (especially when stoned 😂) and obviously the language barrier but there was still something about it especially with the fighting and mini games, I've only just found out about this game today and am over the fricking moon its English dubbed so I've downloaded it on psn 😃

Not sure if someone already commented here but just to add the main protagonist in this game was modeled after famous Japanese actor and member of Jpop band Smap, Takuya Kimura. I believe the voice as well. So the protagonist is literally portrayed by Takuya Kimura.

This game finally game to PC after I've been wanting to play it since release. I originally wanted Lost judgement cause its newer and I was told you didn't need to play the first one, since its older I was also kind of expecting some jank Kiwami 2 ragdolls. But let me just say, the first Judgement is currently blowing me away with out good it is. Best combat in a Yakuza series game so far.
Bought the game after this video and haven't regretted it since. Also loving lost judgement

Sleeping dog is still my top fav game for fighting in open world. I just wish it had a part 2 nd the map extended

Just finished on PlayStation 5. Loved this game! No English dub after having played Yakuza 0-6. Japanese voices is only way to go! Starting Lost Judgement. Looking forward to it! Love the entire series! Like a Dragon and Ishin after Lost Judgment. Will be a sad day when I run out of Yakuza games. Maybe Yakuza 8 will be released then!

Hey I don't mean pushy, but if you are on PS4 and if this looks like something you be into (like I am), I'd recommend playing sleeping dogs. It's not exactly similar but it's a great beat em up set in an a smaller but really pretty open world in China where you are an under cover detective. Anyone who's played both might knock me for mentioning it. But they both have great characters and story and beautiful setting. It's on sale now on PSN. I found switching between them was a great way of pacing myself through each game.
I would love to pick it up just waiting out a bit for hopefully a PC release

One of the best games I ever played. And the fact that it speaks in English makes it even better. At least for me.

Just picked this up since it was on sale, even though I planned on buying it at full price regardless, since I had my eye on it ever since the announcement. So you can imagine how fucking happy I was when it was just $30 (still is, so if you don't own, pick it up fuckers lol)

Yakuza is my favorite series of all time (Don't like playing Japanese games or watching Japanese content in English 💩 i prefer their own voice acting because they give the emotions in the most perfect way ) and i already been playing judgment since like 4 days ago

Could you do a before you buy on f1 2019 when it’s out? It’s released on the 28th (25th with legends edition)
Why would they do it when its the same as 2018 with better graphics and maybe better physics also this is not a sim racing channel so they would not cover it well because they dont play racing sims

Including a spec 2019 regs car with car, helmet, and race suit customisation
(can’t comment on connection/lag as it’s still only early access for a few youtubers who are mainly focusing on career so it hasn’t been tested enough to know) and they’ve improved more than just graphics and Physics, they have also improved sound too also it doesn’t matter if they are a sim channel or not as they cover every major game out there (and pretty sure they did f1 2018) regardless of genre

gotta say, I love this game. My one thing is that, while I love it (big Yakuza fan BTW), random fight encounters don't really make sense to me. They made sense in Yakuza cos Kiryu was some kinda ex-Dojima badass, but Yagami is a (former) lawyer/ (current) detective. Are we supposed to believe that asskicking is Japanese national curriculum? Again, love the game and the developer, but that just doesn't make sense
