Depends what you're trying to accomplish. If rank locally...yes, it can help buuuut its not necessary. To build an entity to rank your business you should claim as many of your business profiles as possible which Yelp can help with. But you can use other services, Yelp is just easier. Problem with it...if you cancel they cancel the listings to so you're essentially tied to it.
