RAD MAN!
Gallbladder might be the issue with the bird. With emu's avoid the bladder because it spoils the meat when butchering.
Ruben had me laughing so hard I fell off my chair when he was talking about that poor bird.
The Ruben will return!
Reuben is funny af. I haven't seen Buck belly laugh so much during the seagull sequence, except for the Tropic Thunder episode. I enjoyed the humor, it was an awesome movie with great commentary. Keep it up guys.
Mike ? Mike? Mike?
At first I was like damn Abel looks different!? 😂 Good episode guys! 🤘🏼🇺🇲
Ruben is dope asf and more guest too for sure
I did not realize how much SERE school entailed. Huge eye opener. Thanks again for teaching me.
You bet!
The film is awesome and so is the review, Ruben is hilarious. Also the Japanese actor didn’t spend any time with Jack O’Connell who played Zamperini because he wanted to able to really act hateful without knowing him because that would cloud his mind during his performance.
Every time I think I'm a badass I remember these heroes and I just get humbled
Thank you Ruben for your many years of service and congrats on the DD214. Hope to see you on more Beers & Breakdowns... possibly in place of Abel?
p.s. Some movies I'd like to see ya'll react to are The Great Raid, U-571, and Hunter Killer.
Read the book. It was far, far superior to the movie.
Same here such a good book
I thought the movie was really good
@@Antares-rt5ub it was good. But the book is much better. Goes into much more detail.
Arguably one of the greatest books of a generation
Read it my senior year of high school, it’s one of my favorite books ever.
I think having guests come hang out and speak a little is a great idea. I like you three *in a platonic way* but I think differing guests will make each episode vibe differently and I think it would keep things fresh and it might attract more viewers too. I always joke about my “production value” in a sarcastic way but you guys have a really good thing going here. Hope it continues & grows
I totally agree!
I really would like to hear more Police stories from you. I think that's why you should make more criminal-movies breakdowns.
Love the concept of guests across the entire military spectrum. There are so many awesome troopers in so many MOSs (sorry, I'm speaking for the Army) & not just the special ops community. Coolest dude i ever met was a diesel mechanic from Montana while i was the stereotypical kid from Brooklyn...
Good review guys. Don’t know if you’ve seen it, but there’s an old movie with Gregory Peck called Twelve O’clock High that, I believe, is still shown to cadets at the Air Force Academy to this day for leadership instruction. It’s about the WW2 Army Air Corps side of things. These guys had it bad, worse than I would’ve thought. These guys were assigned a fixed number of missions they had to complete before being eligible to return home. The chance of surviving all of them was slim. Check it out when you get a chance..great movie.
@Johnny Boy That's a great Movie!,
Catch 22(Book and Film) make a heavy mention of the Missions "flown and needed to be flown" aspect of Piloting being gnarly as hell and rough on people too.
There is a strange perception that Air Force people had it easy in comparison.
All areas of War have their own unique and common difficulties!.
I got the privilege of meeting Louis Zamporini ar Sgts course at 29 Palms when he discussed his whole life for a. couple hours, the .Oviedo is good, the book is great, but hearing his story from the legend himself is life changing.
When was this?
@@Ir0neye 2004
I would love to see you guys breakdown "The Kingdom". Thanks for all you do. Ive watched nearly every breakdown vid and you guys crack me up. 🐭 You also drop really good information.
When do we continue the Band of Brothers series? In the Unbroken book, the sharks were a huge part of the story. He was constantly fending off Oceanic Whitetips with his paddle, and at one point a massive great white shark came to investigate his raft! The book is so much better than the movie...
yup - also wld love 2c more BOBros
Loved this movie, the book, and this episode. Thank you everyone for your service.
thanks bro
Great movie! Great review, always really enjoy your content! 🤘🇺🇸
I’ve been excited for this one!
love the FNG, good shit!
Great breakdown! Great movie!!!
Good job on the breakdown. ,👍 FNG Ruban your ok I'm sure we will see more of you
Ruben was such a dope addition to this amazing channel! Hope to see more of him for sure 🤙🏽
Rubens the man! Stand up guy from what I've seen so far
Love the guests
Ruben is cool as hell! Definitely enjoyed having him as a guest, and would totally have him on future episodes. Generally speaking, I think it's a really great idea to have rotating guests, especially veterans, as it keeps the show concept feeling fresher.
If you’ve ever been inside one of these WW2 bombers you’ll know why they didn’t have parachutes on. They are very cramped and they couldn’t move around inside with a chute on.
Awww man this was one of the funniest videos i have seen with you both in tears over the seagull scene 😂😂😂 both of you gents are absolute legends 🤣🤣
WWII Bomber crews actually did have exit strategies- "bail out procedures" and WERE issued parachutes, the problem is that parachutes are bulky to wear, and it wasn't practical to wear in the tight small spaces. Imagine trying to wear your rucksack inside a tank. So many kept them under their seats and prayed they'd be able to still be alive and put it on and follow the bail-out-procedures.
awesome to see an a/c Maintainer on the show!!! 🤘✊
Love the content, been subbed for a while now! would love to see a breakdown of the movie “Swat”
There are probably so many similar stories out there and they all need to be told to remind us of the living hell that so many endured so we can be free and safe.
I got a buddy who graduated as an aerospace engineer. Knows the physics of flight and the rigorous safety precautions better than the average person. And he fucking HATES flying. He thought if he became an expert, he'd conquer his fears.
5 months into working at an aerospace firm, he realized "naw, this ain't gonna work" and is a lawyer now lol.
lmao that's awesome
Thanks for all the videos you all do. This one was amazing. I haven't belly laughed like that in ages! Thank you for that. One unlucky seagull. Lmao!
I read about a group of german soldiers who were made prisioners when Stalingrad front surrended and they were separeted in 10 men groups. Each group got a cabbage to eat every day, so, if a man died in the group they got less cabbage. So a german doctor came up with the idea of making the dead stand in formation every day to be counted as living so they could still get a whole cabbage per group. It was freezing cold in siberia so they kept the bodies in pretty good shape and they hold them during formatios. Russians werent very thorough counting, they just wanted to get in to their own cabbins and go to drink vodka. Greetings from Argentina.
Bruh, Reuben is fucking awesome! He definitely has the Army thought process and humor for everything! loved this episode!
Great commentary great guest haha
thank you!
More band of brothers
Good work my guys, hooah
thank you!
I was pretty sure in the special features or commentary, they talk about it in the elbow to show Louie Zamperini the film before he died
26:08 interesting. Change the information just enough. Ingenious.
Been here since the first beers and breakdowns ....can you guys do a breakdown of an episode of Southland
If you decide to do a 2023 highlight reel the seagull comments need to be in it 😂
There is definitely a difference in landing style when your flying on a plane that’s flown by naval aviators as opposed to air force pilots. Air Force definitely seems to float the plane down where as naval aviators put the plane down on the ground hard and fast and keep it down. Difference between runway training and carrier training for sure
Great episode! I thought Ruben's perspective was great too!
My Father was in a B-17 in 42in Africa. Hated flying ever since
Ruben has the military sense of humor.
Ruben is awesome! I was laughing right along with Buck loosing his shit at 19:00
He will be back!
I find just amazing that men like that lived.
At some point I'd like to see you guys react to the Great Raid, and a few older films, namely A Bridge to Far, the Dogs of War, the Final Option/Who Dares Wins, and the Wild Geese.
Dirty Dozen
Big Red One
Hamburger Hill, Firebase Gloria, 84 Charlie Mo-pic, Platoon Leader, Tour of Duty (show)
Is the great raid the one about the prisoner rescue and mucci’s raiders? If so that’s a good one.
84 Charlie mopic is a great one as well, a uncle was a mopic officer and had me watch that long ago.
Hamburger Hill would also be a good one. There's a 50's war movie called Pork Chop Hill that's pretty good as well.
I lost it at the bird part. 😅😅😅
lmao!
3:30 Minuteman Aviation in Missoula loves veterans
"What happened 2 Abel? - we upgraded" - - ha ha ha, my guy. Great episode boys . . . not sure but did we have a look at Hurt Locker? - great movie and wld b interested in ur special forces take and some of the potentially sketchy tactics in that 1. Another review that I'd love 2 see - - 'Aliens' - the one with the Space Marines . . love the movie and think it would be great to hear UR views on their tactics too ("Keep it tight people") ;)
Hurt Locker SUCKS. Bro. Go watch saving private ryan or something. Hurt locker isn’t “sketchy tactics” it’s just all out Hollywood fantasy. It’s valuable only for a lesson on how to not make a war movie.
@@nothingnewtome1 Well . . . (yawn) . . Ur entitled 2 UR opinion bla bla bla but will let the professionals give their take on the Hollywood fantasy; the boys asked 4 content ideas so that's wat I'm givin - mayB U shld stop yappin, Go watch something & give URS
They’ve done Hurt Locker already. But them doing Aliens would be a blast!
@@juicev25 Hey bud, ahhh, didn't know that - - quite new to the channel (enjoin a lot & getting a good laugh) so will need to check it out. Thx 4 da tip. Yeah I think the Aliens unpacking wld b really funny with the dudes :D
I would've gone to the school house depending on where it was. As a 19D I'm not sure I'd want to actually be stationed at Ft Benning.
The scenes with Japanese imperial soldiers' brutality is something. Feels like its going to happen again soon but this time with the Chinese. Hope you guys review The Great Raid with the 6th Ranger Battalion.
They did have parachutes. They just did not have ejection seats. They had to actually bail out, if they were able to.
Love you guys so much, but could you guys please post more content other than beers and breakdowns. I think vlog or range say videos would be fun. Maybe even reactions to police videos. Thanks guys, again, y’all are awesome!
In tears laughing!
Let me know the next time you do a period piece I love to chime in. Times and men were different.
This movie absolutely deserved more praise and attention. The academy didn't even consider it for any awards just because they have a personal vendetta against the director.
I agree
I really like Cool Abel… but no one can replace Power Bottom Actual 🚙
ol PBA!
Are you going to continue with Band of Brothers?
yup! doing all the shows beginning to end The Pacific, BOB, Terminal List, Generation Kill
@@FNGACADEMY Great! Looking forward to it!
“That’s a cool landing spot!” 😂😂😂
“That’s a cool landing spot” 🤣
I was committed joining the army when I joined army cadets at 13 in Australia in 85.
I read this book to my grandmother while she was on hospice. I was vividly afraid she would pass away with that man still in Japanese custody or all messed up from it. It was a whole new victory for America when I got to show her the picture of him in his 80s on a skateboard.
That jacket 🧥 is a statement ❤
Aircraft crews had a number of missions until they could retire since they were shot down so much. You were more likely to live fighting on the ground than the air. But I belive that Stat was for Europe not the pacific 🤷♂️
👍🏻👍🏻 great book, now I gotta find this movie.
Oh, and you might want to keep Abel around a bit, he always ask those silly civilian questions. 😂
exactly lmao "whats a plate carrier?"
@@FNGACADEMY yeah, combatants are so inconsiderate and sometimes make contact during dinner😂
Movie suggestion: Hamburger Hill, or Tiger Land.
Dude, Ruben is fucking awesome.
I would love to see more quests. We need more Andy Stumpf.
Ruben funny AF and stand up dude 💯
he's a real one
If I could recommend anything, I would like to see how you guys would react to the Escape from Tarkov short film. It has some really good firefight scenes and is pretty intense.
Those warriors in the POW camps had it especially rough in far east camp's it seems. Just abhorrent treatment of another human being. Even when a kid & hearing so much about Vietnam war POW's horrible treatment it just didn't make sense to me. My family and I have been involved in K9 rescue for over a decade now and the cruelty humans are capable of is just sickening. Gobless & have an excellent rest of the weekend Gents.
Good on you for doing the rescues. Seriously, hats off 👏
I would love to see Jason Lilly on from savage actual he’s a marsoc marine was in the recon battalion that was shown in generation kill on HBO. (If he wasn’t already)
he'd be welcome
Great video, guys! Keep Reuben and Abel! They can switch, from show to show!
agreed - great banter - - get em both together on occasion
Abel is grateful for this comment lol
Hey man, I would like to see your reactions to 2 movies.
World War Z movie and All quiet at the western front (world war 1 movie, German movie)
Nice
Y’all should do some Jason Bourne movies!
You guys know Mr Ballen? He was a Navy Seal, sometimes he pops up out of water on his podcast. Lol please do Enemy at the Gates.
Y’all should do the new Catch 22 series. It’s perfect!
yeah Ruben can stay (unless Curt is in town) Able can fetch the beer.
bet lol
If i read correctly Lou did see the movie, the showed him a director cut. He was on his deathbed though.
RIP Anton Yelchin. A damn good actor
I like the new guy! Keep him!
Movie for review: Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan
Buck (at 20:40): Dude, I can't imagine how it could possibly get worse.
Me: Hey Buck, look up the USS Indianapolis.
He was actually born in my home town of Olean NY
I apologize for not readin’ through ye “comments,” if already asked; but I am diggin’ Reuben’s flannel. Where can I cop, Gents? Much obliged in advance…
It’s a dixxon flannel man I forgot which style but it’s super comfy man
Do what BRCC do, they bring on their fun and knowledgeable guests for movie reviews, I understand they now have a bigger budget than you guys at FNG Academy but it’s an idea Shawn.
You guys should review apocalypse now..
will do
You should bring in the Olympian Green Beret. Was he part of WCAP?
You guys should check out and react to hamburger hill, its a good Vietnam movie. Or watch Sniper special ops by Steven seagull
Check out The Wild Geese (1978) an English film ahead of it’s time.
Will you guys do a reaction the movie called The Great Raid? It’s a very interesting and intense movie of American POWs and trying to save them.
You guys should do a beers and break down on enemy at the gates.
will do!
You 100 percent need to read the book that this movie is based off of. Its on audiobook as well. The movie only scratches the surface.
Mike!
Love all the additional stories, and love the idea of guests on the show. The single criticism I have is the cost of tier 3. I’d love to support you folks, but 25 bucks to hear the uncensored versions is just too much a month. Regardless, you guys are awesome.
