  • Woodturning this very hard and dusty spikey Burr, this is Brown Mallee Burr from Australia which I bought from a reputable wood dealer in the Uk. Once mounted on my lathe I then cleaned it up and put in a mortise once swapped around I then started to turn the Burr into a emerging bowl using carbide tools I find that for me using carbide tools is the best for Burr Wood. Once I was happy with the design I then started to sand the piece from 80 grit to 320 grit I then cleaned the Burr down using methylated spirits, after that I used sanding sealer all over the Burr once dried I then used wire wool to knock it back and then finished the piece with 3 coats of Clear Gloss lacquer.
