Glad to see this series expand, and be explained in such a simple method.

@BravingTheOutdoors..i fully agree i do need another camera..and when income tax money rolls in that is my goal...several of my early videos suffer for my camera ...as to the Merino..i have to be honest i dont own one at this time..but having said that i will agree with you based on friends i trust telling me Merino is much warmer...thanks for the comment ! ..safe journeys

@shadowtheblader..i use a dakota hole on those cold camps where we have a strong wind..and a above ground fire looses too much heat due to wind shift..(once at a camp it was 25 F with a 22 mile wind..a coffee pot sat on a big fire for 45 min and never boiled ) plus a dakota hole acts as a roasting oven for baking lage meat and foil wraped veggies...safe journeys

I think the camera is fine. A wireless mic (even a $50-$100 Radio Shark special), and maybe a Zoom H3 or H4 would pretty much solve the distant audio problem. Combine a field recorder like a Zoom, the on-camera mic (for syncing), and SynthEyes and you'll be set. Just my opinion . . . .

If you can't snap it, scrap it. Squaw wood is good even in the rain. It also removes widow makers. Just carry a rope over the branch, and and carefully pull them down. Split, and these will be bone dry.

Friend, I have to tell you something. I've been watching your videos for some time now and I love them. Your explanations are great, you cover important things a lot of people don't and in general I like your style but seriously, you've got to get a better camera. On a few videos it was almost impossible to see what you're talking about. Second thing I would like to ask, can you make a video comparing Wool to Merino? Merino blanket vs. Army style wool blankets. After all Merino is warmer?!
