The arrangement doesn't work for me. One of very few of their covers that I didn't enjoy.
Rob's voice in this and Colder Weather is like an warm hug.... But gospel/ R&B Rob is amazing...
This one is on my favorite Home Free song list. The arrangement is so good, and I love how well their voices blend together. Many Home Fries say their music is like a warm blanket wrapped around you. This song is a good example. Did you hear Adam making the subtle heartbeat sound? If you watch the original MV, you would hear it at about 1:05. He always adds delicate touch to the songs, and I love him for that.
That double bass at the end with Tim & Chance is just so dang lovely....glad you reacted to this, as it's one of their most beautiful !! Thanks to the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band for the original in the 1990s and then Rascal Flatts cover in 2003/2004. Many folks are using this in their weddings nowadays.

That little 3-note motif recurs throughout the song, usually right before the "God Bless..." line. It is in different voices almost every time it happens. Small thing that just helps tie the whole thing together.
I just recently got to see them live for the first time, and they are 1000% more impressive in person than their recordings. Definitely worth it if their tour comes anywhere near you!
I absolutely agree! Had the chance to catch them in Tulsa on my wifes birthday. I now feel like I shot myself in the foot because I'll have a hard time time topping that for her next birthdays. These guy are simply fantastic.
I agree! You literally feel the music, esp. the bass. My wife and I have seen them twice - a Christmas tour in '19 [?] and just a couple months ago. Both were stellar!

One of the more interesting parts of this song is when Tim and Chance are doubling up on the base line when Tim is not in lead. Some of this is very tight bass and low baritone harmony, but often they are singing the same pitch to add colors to the line.

This is one of the first times they have used the home free logo into the landscape behind the car in the beginning of this one. Nice touch! I liked and totally agree with Chris about brothers in arms! A club for five arrangement! But one of their absolute best lately is : listen to the music!

Great reaction to another wonderful song by Home Free. If you want to hear something that will blow your mind, listen to Tim Foust's solo Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow / Stay. He shows that Adam Rupp is not the only "freak of nature" in the group.
I have missed your reactions to Home Free. Looking forward to your reaction to, When Will I Be Loved". As usual it is both a great cover and a wonderful video. However it is easy to get so caught up in the video that you forget to pay attention to the music and lyrics. They have also recently done a cover of the Dooby Brothers classic, Listen to the music. So many choices, to enjoy.

Yes I like all of these songs too. All very different. Well I think I like all their songs😁. The bass in Everybody walking this Land is brilliant. I love how they use their bass singers as soloists not just accompaniment. The arrangement of Do you hear what I hear was done by Adam Rupp & is beautiful and so complex...love it. Great reaction. I learn to listen better & hear the songs differently after hearing your analysis. I love how your initial reaction is similar to mine...how you just enjoy it so much - it's so obvious that you feel joyful hearing Home Free💕

I will comment from an amateur point of view ;
it tastes like a children's poem that gives importance to rhyme.
Peaceful and usual, like a church choir song in a cowboy town.
And.... skillful enough to create order out of the confusion of different harmonies.

Hope you heard Adam's "heart beat" just before Rob's verse started.
Please check out their original song 'Why Not'. Their slightly altered version of 'Travelin' Soldier' is freak'n amazing as well though that one (like the original) is a bit sad as well.
Austin has training in musical theater that gives him the ability to turn that twang off when he needs to. If you haven't heard his cover of Bring Him Home on his solo channel, you need to hear it. He also does amazing versions of Danny Boy, Unchained Melody, and At Last. Then there are Tim's Doo Wop solos where he lays down all the tracks himself. If you haven't heard those yet, check them out on his solo channel. They showcase his jaw-dropping range.
The doggy one has a happy ending. Or you could have gone with the new one Listen to the Music Doobie Brothers cover. Adam Rupp outdoes himself in it.

You should Austin and Rob do “Nessus Dorma”
First of all, thanks for your fine analysis. One of my pet peeves is most call Adam Rupp a "beat-boxer", which doesn't do him justice. He is truly, as you stated, a vocal percussionist. Anyone can make noise (so can Adam), but few can inmate the drum set to the point you sometimes forget he's there. That little vocal flip that Tim did at the end of the phrase is a typical electric bass run. Love This Group!! Rise up Home Fries!

Beautiful version but, for me anyway, the original by Rascal Flatts edges it....just! Had I not heard the original, I would think this was Home Free's song. Stunning arrangement and cinematography. Home Free are the full package.

I personally think this is one of the best country songs ever written. Home Free are definitely all pros, as you point out, but the lead singer of Rascal Flatts, Gary LeVox, is no slouch. I heard Rascal Flatts sing this on a clip from American Idol a couple years ago and he was soaring around in the stratosphere with those melismas. Great reaction as always, Bethany! Today I'm gonna recommend a newer artist named Lolli Wren. She just put out a cover of Radiohead's 15 Step that's filled with her layered voice in some of the tastiest chord voicings you ever heard. I think Tim and Chance overlap the bass quite a bit these days, sometimes hard to differentiate.
