Motorcycle Traction Control Explained | KTM

- Motorcycle Traction Control Systems helps to accelerate, brake and steer properly and efficiently, which makes riding safer and easier. It is particularly useful when riding over slippery surfaces, as it can aid in maintaining enough grip to help the bike stay on the road while increasing speed under these conditions.
Motorcycle Traction Control systems (TSC) uses wheel-speed sensors to gauge the speed at which the wheels are spinning. If one wheel is spinning more quickly than the others, it would be easy to lose control. As soon as the sensors pick up a difference in speed, the Traction Control system encourages the brake to lessen the speed of that wheel so that it slows down in line with the speed of the other wheels. This limits the chances of skidding or sliding off the road.

This was really cool to see side by side
That rear fish tail always make my heart beat skip
I feel you bro
Did that once on the 05 fjr . Pirelli angel st tires fixes it.
Thank you for a clear video.
(More spokes.)
i have tested my ktm 690 on mud with almost slick tires for track and it was acting perfectly, with my old bmw supermoto it was very hard to drive there even with dunlop mutant tires, rear tire was too slow or too fast but new ktm make rear wheel spin exactly as front wheel, and dont allow to open throttle if there is no grip
Thx for the show,make sense!
Thank you bro thank you for this knowledge❤❤
Just got the 890 duke...love it.
Nicely explained... Thank you
I love the tecnology
on street, traction control mostly activate when full throttling at start, and then your engine jerks and you look like someone having trouble on his bike
I agree it cuts power and jerks experience when it detects super slippery road.
Godbless
I own a KTM Duke 390 . Its fantastic.
Wow amazing
Nice bro
I like this video, however to really test the difference, you need to use the same bike, same driver and same tires.
But still a good video!
ok sir
950 is such an epic bike
Adventure 950 rider is traction control
Brother, I'm Ners Ajang Heri from Indonesia. I want to ask your permission to use a little of this video to educate the Indonesian people about the difference between atractio and non nontraction. I really hope Mister can allow me to use a little of this video Later I will show the link in the description thank you 🙏🙏
You can use it brother.
Can we do whille on traction control system
My 2015 smc r has only abs brakes and ive heared mb abs isnt as effective compared to cars but infact they are more useful in mbs since how can you drop ur car while braking?
Oh cool how do you get on with just abs? My bike has neither!!! But looking at a bike with just abs as its cheaper
@@worzysp1 there are bikes who has only abs no tc, with tc but no abs or both features have. it depends what bikes but the most commons are the 250cc - 600cc
1:57 Why there is no audio here?
I'ill rty it in my home 😂
Don’t try this at home? How many of us have a track or road at home? I certainly don’t. Also…how far away from home to I have to be before I can try it.
What sport bikes 600cc have traction control and abs ?
Cbr and zx6r
Does the same thing works for adventure 390 ??
Yes
Pretty sure they used different tires to maximize the difference... Why do company's do this?
Jay Edlington lol yea
Well, it's basically filmed as both an info video as well as a commercial. So there's that. But you can't just discredit the traction control system's safety/usefulness just because a difference in tire.
@@op3l well yes and no. everybody aknowledges (is that correct english? aint my native) that TC is usefull in slippery conditions and aids to safety A LOT.
But they shouldnt have done the tire thingy.
I'm sure using the same tires would've given enough visual difference too
@@op3l aww c'mon, he is not discrediting anything he just spots a scam and tells it. Great attention Jay!

Is TCS necessary for casual riding? I mean if you're not racing and doing bankings.
Oil
If you ride around casually with 180 hp under your bollocks, it wont be long before you try and set them free (the horsepower 🤭) sometimes tree Sap, a shady corner that the sun has not hit yet or any other spilled contaminant can make things fun. With thr ktm mtc depending on the riding mode, for example I only ride in sport, so it let's it slip enough to give you a massive grin, I've never personally noticed the light flashing but I tend to look where I'm going.
Lots of debris in the road, gravel, sand, oil, etc.
Interesting that nearly all Japanese brands dont offer even as an option the TC.
dammmmm
For all the wannabe-motoGP-pros here:
Jump to minute 9:45 in the following video and ask yourself whether you would have managed that situation without TC or would end up like the biker in the next video sequence.

nice video you shared there
How can I do this at home 😈
those words are exactly popped in to my head. word by word
Who the fk drifts his bike in his house
Home does not have to be a house or an apartment... home can be a big ass farm too...
Nicely explained, I don't see any reason why you would turn off the traction control. Is it purely for the showoff?
Bu ürün yamaha yzf r6 sonradan yapılabilir mi
Turn off your TC to gain a full understanding of throttle control and improve your rider skills.
I came here because I was frustrated that a 7000USD Honda motorcycle does not have traction control while the 5000USD CFMoto unit has one.
But what average rider would try to open up the throttle mid corner. That’s just asking for less traction.
Did you see how they used different tyres for testing? 😂
As a superduke 1290r owner... i can say my mtc light always flashes when im not even above 6k rpm
Turn off your TC and learn to use your throttle - TC essentially does diminished riders skills.
Tcs is best in sandy road.
So just don't accelerate during cornering.
Better do not raise at corners
Watching in 2024
He doesnt even opens same throttle in both videos you scams
TCS
Same rider...BUT.. DIFFERENT bike with different tyres. Fundamentals understood however TEST FAIL. I'd like to see how much TC is actually needed for a modern bike with modern tyres
It doesn’t change anything. Traction control is traction control, regardless of the bike or tires. It has one job to do, stabilize the rider. What you see here happens even if it’s the same bike and same tires. I tried it on my bike and received the same result seen in this video. It’s a no brainer.
@@AllAmericanGuy01 nah. As I said basic definition and demo. There are many different scenarios that need to be explored.
Comment is bNot diminishing control offered by TC
@@AllAmericanGuy01 - that was due to lack of throttle control and understanding. TC does dimished the riders skills.
Different bikes, different tyres... Do they think their potential buyers are fools?
The goal is just to explain principles of traction control not to do a scientistic benchmark between tc vendors. If u cant understand that I guess you are the fool
@@MiniKodjo nope he isnt. You seem to be.
You say "not a benchmark between TC vendors" offcourse not, that's Kenneth's point: it's a KTM video.
And they can turn the TC off too and show the results on THE SAME TYPE OF BIKE.
YOU are the fool if you dont understand one type of bike can behave WAY different than another one.
I have a 1995 gsxr750 and a 1998 750gsxrSRAD ... wanna try it out on the track? the 1995 (for me) is 2 sec slower...
Why??? it is a suzuki and a sportsbike innit??? thats just daft thinking.
THEY SHOULD VE USED THE SAME BIKE AND TIRES
yes they do
@@lillnemo1 Its just a test
"You wont win races without tcs"
Moto gp be like 😐
I mean every single rider in moto go doesn’t have traction control tho. I’d like to see a comparison of a moto gp race where half the guys have traction control and half don’t to see how much of a difference it would make.
@josephlilley9249 i think what I meant by that was that Moto gp usually doesn't have tcs. I should have used a different emoji lol
My new bike has TC and it has level from 1 to 3. What does each level do?
Read your bike's manual...
sorry, but you shouldnt drive a motorcycle if you have to ask. cause or you are too daft, or just a lazy ass. instead of typing here, do it in google and search the answer yourself or read da frikkin manual
sorry for my language, but honestly I'm FED UP with that lazy ass way people are nowadays.
Bet 90% op peeps cant even tell how to put on/off foglights on the car or how to switch the lights off ("we cant, its automatic nowadays")

for off road (and racing) it makes sense, but on the road, i still prefer no tc, especially on not so powerful bikes, i mean why of why would you need tc on a 300cc scooter
so you don't fall over? a crazy concept I know
@@djlinux64 if you fall over with 300cc scooter, maybe bikes are not for you, lol
@@seekter-kafa a 300cc scooter is still 400 pounds moving at speed. there is significant momentum. you can get rekt even with a 🅿🅸🅴🅲🅴 🅾🅵 🆂🅷🅸🆃 ebike
@@djlinux64 actually it is more than 700 pounds when i ride it, but if you cant menage a measly 300cc scooter than you should find another sport... it's that simple
@@seekter-kafa its about not falling down on slick surfaces which can happen at any power, any weight, and any speed
My opinion is traction control for people that inexperienced on motorcycle . traction control are for inexperienced careless motorcycle riders that not paying attention to the situation the weather conditions and throttle control
Moto gp should be without that tracrion control..
No
@@jerrab8286 it should be all driver and not a computer... You need to slide sometimes in races...
@@kratkidokumentarci224 But what If i told you You can just turn it of.they Want it becuz is Better with TC Sliding Will Tear The Tire Faster
@@kratkidokumentarci224 ducati's traction control has 8 levels + off setting, at level 1 and 2 its for racetracks, it allows a good amount of sliding before intervention. Also, statistics don't lie, yes even low traction control interventions remove some rider's skills but since it's been mandatory death counts and accidents on tracks as well on the roads have diminished significantly.
riding for 29 years and still preffer less tech on a bike...
NO TC = Professional Rider, MTC = Computer Operator
NO TC = Mechanic, MTC = Hardware and Software Engineer
So we can call it fast and safety, but less entertain and boring... sorry
Traction control is for people who has no control on acceleration and braking. These are the manual tasks which are now done by electronics
for apes that try to ride bikes to be cool :p
Ну зачем вы врете. Вам не стыдно,
Won't recommend doing it at home 😒
