I quit YouTube, and this is why!

- To be honest, it took me way too long to make this video. This topic was not easy to speak about.
To make it short:
- I have a new job that makes me very happy
- My health required a lot of my attention
- YT became a big pile of garbage in order to compete with TikTok etc.
Fun Fact: in order to be featured by the algorithm the ideal vid length is 10-15min. Quite impossible in Anno 1800 without extreme editing measures.
As of now I do not intend to return anytime soon. Maybe one day when my life got more calm and YT figured out what they want, or if I have something important to share.
I’m sad to see u gone on other hand happy to see that u found job and doing so well and take care of yourself hopefully one day we all get see you again doing videos hopefully I love and appreciate all videos u made and learn a lot from anno games u play thank u for everything best of luck stay healthy
Two weeks ago, I landed on your Construction Playlist for Anno 1404 when I got the History Version myself and wanted to learn the instructions and productivity. I thank you so much for the videos, it was so fun to listen and learn what you were teaching. I‘m glad though you have made it so far in your working life. That’s nice to hear. More wishes to you and maybe we‘ll see each other again sometime when you have more spare time 😊

It's really sad to see you go... It was fun watching your videos when I came back from school. Your videos really showed me how a game can be pushed to its absolute limits of efficiency and beauty. And how Anno, a supposedly relaxing and laid-back game, can be a major back-stab upon the expert difficulties. In short, your videos raised me during my childhood lmao.

I loved your Anno 1404 videos when I started playing in 2017-2018.
While I'm really bummed to see you retire from YT, I'm happy you found a job you love.
Also, way to go on getting your health under control. That's not an easy thing to do. Managing stress is a big part of maintaining it .
I worked in (US) pharmacy prior to starting medical school and have seen the havoc uncontrolled diabetes can wreak on one's body. Yet the way our system works, many people end up rationing their meds because of price gouging that keeps being allowed to happen.
Anyway, I'll quit rambling. Best of luck in the future.

I only discovered your channel a couple of weeks ago, because I only picked up the Anno series recently. It's sad you quit YT, but it was your decision and we have to respect this. Anyway, many thanks for keeping all this stuff online for future reference. It's a joy to watch and I had great help from it already for my own gameplay!

I just started playing the anno series, and was liking your anno play thorough. It's so sad to see you already gone.
With the CZcams changes, it's completely understandable. And I'm happy to learn that you found a job you are actually passionate about. I have all the best wishes for you, but I'd also like to have you around, I still need to learn anno, you know.
I'd like you to come back to youtube, as a hobby. My definition is naturally different from you, but for me, a hobby is what I do because I enjoy doing it, not necessarily for the outcome. When you consider youtube as a hobby, you no longer need to fulfill all the requirements, just do without care. And every once in a while, somebody will show up and appreciate having you, somebody like me.
You are practically a stranger to me, but I feel sad that you had to give up on a hobby. I don't know what losing 90% viewership feels like. After going through that, it's up to you what to do. And if you choose not to come back, that's fine too. But please consider.
In the end, your story will have a sweet ending either way. Please take care of your body and mind.

Glad things have worked out for you, and life seems to be mostly going well! I got a new phone and didn't bother getting back on discord, so I missed any updates there. I will disagree with you on two points: 1. I don't think YT is trying to compete with other social media companies, but rather with TV itself. I believe they changed the algorithm, in order to promote regular uploaders, especially ones who upload 10-20min vids as people tend to turn off after 20min. Most TV programs around roughly 23 minutes, thus I think the idea is to get people to pay for YT TV (yea right). It's unfortunate, but not an illogical business decision in my opinion. Secondly, there isn't as good a Anno 1800 player as yourself! While you struggle on expeditions and the city decorating could be improved, in terms of core game play, you absolutely smash it! Plus we get funny and insightful commentary! Anyway, I would be curious to see what games you and your students are working on, if you're allowed to upload such things. Anyway, good luck, hope to see you around!

about other Anno 1800 youtubers: i can recommend this small channel : czcams.com/users/StratGamer1playlists , or bigger: czcams.com/users/Nivariasplaylists . Both of them did playthroughs with hard settings (if you are into this sort of thing :)

gonna miss your anno plays. You in my opinion were one of the better Anno players but yes all the reasons you gave are totally understandable. From most importantly your health, job and even youtube. It's almost like they are trying to destroy youtube, removing dislikes is in my opinion one of the worst things ever. Like I don't even see the purpose on giving likes anymore if you can't see if people don't like a video. YT also gave a BS reasoning to why they did it. Good luck thou, hopefully one day you will do the random upload, then there hasn't been a new Anno game announced yet minus season 4 for 1800 I guess
