    Everyone is asking why Ishikawa and Nishida weren't playing? The answer is because Japan statistically hasn't beaten USA in decades. Therefore, Japan knew that the chances of winning EVEN WITH ISHIKAWA AND NISHIDA are very slim. With that in mind, Japan 'strategically' let Ishikawa and Nishida REST to play against TEAMS that they know they have a higher % of winning. This World Cup doesn't have a "quarter-final, semi-final, or final championship matches", so basically, you play everyone once and you just add up the wins/losses. It's okay for Japan to lose against USA BECAUSE USA lost against Argentina, but Japan won against Argentina. Hope that helps all the confused people wanting Ishikawa and Nishida to play EVERY SINGLE MATCH LIKE THEY ARE ROBOTS. lol

      This is probably the most idiotic thing i've read today. It doesn't matter if JPN rest their superstars, they should play both nishida etc because they should always give their best in every match. You said it yourself, this WC doesn't have any brackets, so why not give it your all then? 😂

      @in05vnitro Před 4 lety +433

      @@joshuagarcia557 Nope, to be very honest, Connor Sky is right and you are wrong. The match was already lost before the game actually started, so resting the superstars is the smartest thing Japan could do.

      Dracoe Malfoe Of course it’s ideal to give it your best. Who wouldn’t? But going into a match knowing you will lose, it’s better to just rest the superstars. But to each his own coaching strategy. I think Japan made a great decision resting them. If you were coaching, sure, play the superstars.

    • @Fwizzle45
      @Fwizzle45 Před 4 lety +46

      For the US it made sense since they crushed Japan first set. Plus the dudes that replaced them are both monsters in their own right. The setter was from the Hawaii team and Defalco from Long Beach State. They're both young but can definitely compete at this level. As for Japan, I'm going to assume they just wanted to get the new guys experience since Japan has an automatic buy for the Olympics.

      Like in other sports like NFL or NBA or just any team in a group stage, when they get enough points to qualify for the knockouts/playoffs they would rather is most of the subs to rest the better players for the next round. This or if they think the second team is as good as the opponents first team, why not sprinkle in a couple of younger guys for experience. Lastly if the schedule is super compact (like 3 games in a week like a premier league game on Saturday, an FA cup game on Wednesday, then another premier league game on Sunday) then they would play their second team for rest.

      Hey maybe its late but have you tried vbtv? It have an app and also a website. Now due to covid, i think they still giving free pass to watch all. Because my off season pass supposed to end on early may, but i think until august, you get to see it for free. It is the official site for volleyball so you can see alot of full games in it

    i think japan is an excellent team. i definitely believe that haikyuu got inspired by their players, and they provide for their lack of height. japan has some creative ways of playing, and their structure is a lot like karasuno. the creators of haikyuu definitely took a look at japan’s team, and almost made a carbon copy of their plays (not saying it’s bad). what’s cool is i think that hinata was inspired by the vertical king, yuji nishida. that’s super awesome.
