the real problem in Legend difficulty is that the AI they are clearly power up above their true attribute
The ai crosses are so good that sometimes they don't even switch me to the right person because only the ai can get it. You'll think what a terrible ball right past the attacker and my defender. Then it rolls to their other attacker behind both of them for a tap in
Thank you so much for these tips, absolutely a game changer for me. Now it's so much easier to defend and now I just need to be effective in my counter attacks. Fluid formation also helps me a lot! Keep up the great work!!
This has helped so much. Was finding Superstar too easy so I moved up but was getting very inconsistent results. 5 back is definitely the key imo

another great video. I do still struggle with 3 / 5 at the back formations due to the lack of an out ball down the line when I have possession but I'll try once again to set up a Blades formation

I've bought pes just this year im a fifa player "history" (im just 16 dont think bad) budget since psp i play fifa, this year pes and for me the best difficult is 2 before legend im a noob? (1 before legend is good but i always lose 1-0/2-1/2-0)
Excellent work Spoony your tips are the best, I don't like to play in the legend because I play in the manual and I have a lot of difficulty in marking but your tutorials are encouraging me to try this challenge.

Been playing ml superstar lv with dp 7. For me it's a big improvement on dp 6, just a lot more challenging and fun to play. Gameplay is a lot closer to dp 4 now.

It is just not fare. I had 8 shots on target their goalkeeper a God! They had 1 shot and goal. The game won't let you win no matter what you do in Legend difficulty!

All the experience of 8 years just in half an hour... Yes, exactly that. If you don't know how to defend, then you lose the 70% of football strategy. If you have good attackers and good attacking strategy, you may not win the game, because that depends on the opponent's defensive capability. But if you have a good defence and a proper defensive strategy, you will surely not lose the game. I may not play in the Legendary difficulty (I'm very far below...), but I have learnt that a good scenario of how to block the AI's gameplay and to know how to counter and hit to the opponent's disadvantages has given me a very good percentage of winning: I was in 58% until PES 2015 and it rose to 82% from PES 2015 onwards (with Spoony, I managed to surpass 90% on PES 2019). Good mentality and defensive/ counter attack strategy, proper scenarios of how to defend (primarily) AND how to attack, knowing of the opponents's advantages AND disadvantages, good reckon on who is the opponent playmaker and how he plays, these are the keys. Thanks, Spoony for this tutorial, I think this is the most important of all your tutorials. Stay safe, mate, and keep on with this marvellous work.

Recently I got very frustrated playing Master league but with this and your last tips on scooring i am eager to Start a new career today. (Last masterleague i tried to play man. United with 4-3-3 3center forwards pressing and no success at all Defending Or attacking in the second season)

Hey spoony I wanna tell you that this worked actually on pes21 so good i tried it on masterleague today and i went 5 matches without a loss and winning by 3-1 or 3-0 i swear just kept the ball behind and i surprise them with a quick run or pass bam goal and as u said whole match i think only in defense

They really should add one more level, super star is too easy and legend is too hard for me.

I just watch it while using ultimate 3-6-1 formation in PES 2021 (with RB/LB players as wingers). 3 CBs are still pretty good.
However I saw you recommending 4-1-4-1 or 4-5-1 too as "best for legend". And you play 4 defenders too.
Did something change or just have more fun with 4 defenders?
I found 4-1-4-1 lacked of defense very much. Especially with default formation where defenders were back while midfield was at front in the pitch.
I like how ultimate formation used defenders forward on the pitch to make the formation more conpact.
But I dont see it in your formations anymore... Just defenders in standard positions.
I may try other formations than 3-6-1 but dont know what. I was conceded goals immediately I changed from 3 CBs. :)

Legend difficulty? Nothing can prepare you for that mate. It'll always be a challenge even for the best of us. Tutorials will help though for sure, if there's something you don't know about

I actually play the other way around, I play a 4141 attack minded and move up asymmetrically with a SS to support CF....it works well for me

Not much difference tactically, you'll just find the AI is more intent on attacking

Tbh I found Legend difficulty unplayable after more than ten seasons. My solution was too switch to pass support 2. As much as I prefer 1 in legend you just don't have the time to adjust pass strength before AI steals the ball.I still lose half the games but I feel fair game.

Typing this as I'm watching but just my take on legend. I know you don't agree that this game has scripting but I have so many videos that combat that stance and so does CZcams, which you've seen. I'm not trying to start an argument on that but what we (most people) consider scripting is vastly increased on legend. Tactics aren't the issue at all from my games on legend. I win some, I draw most and I lose some. The issue is 9 shots to 2 shots and the CPU wins 1-0 or 2-0. I have a video that I'm not sure how to upload of Burgstaller (Shalke FC) Running in front of the opponents goal, squaring up to me w/ Harit and jumping in front of the shot I take and it going off his chest. He's my striker and he ran to the spot, turned and then jumped in front of my shot. I just gave up a goal yesterday after a diving save by Nubel and it bangs in off Sane with horrid ball physics. You can call it when one of their 1-3 unstoppable attacks are coming. For me, it's usually following a very easy 10-20 foot through ball that misses by 20 yards and leads to a counter. If it's not that, it's me stealing the ball but just running through it and them continuing to the goal and no exaggeration, 9 out of 10 times, it ends up w a back to goal pass to their striker as one of my CBs actually float out of the way to allow the pass to get there and the shot to be taken. 1 of those 3 unstoppable situations usually misses the net but that's the only way they score against me and it's been that way since you put out the Mod tutorial. PES>FIFA still by far but my point is, I don't think it's a tactics thing. I think it's a scripting, keep games close, whatever you want to call it, thing. You are fantastic at this game and you usually win by 1 goal. That's an open and shut case on the keep scores close/scripting this game does. Of course there are games where you put up a 9 or I put up a 3-1, 4-1 win but they're maybe 2% of the games played. Love the game and biting my fingernails waiting for these MOD UPDATES so I can play it again and see what DP 7 feels like. Thanks for all the vids spoony and thanks for the effort you always put in.
Do you think legend has any stats boost this year? I usually play against super star, whenever i try to win against legend it feels they can win the ball back so easily.
No mate, no boost to stats...however, YOUR players first touch will tend to be heavier. That's the only difference that I notice which is why it feels far easier and more fair than 2019 and even more so than 2018 which was super frustrating.

I have never been able to get used to using the left stick over the pad. Is there an advantage? Is the stick more accurate? Would you recommend the stick over the d pad?
Stick is a HUGE advantage. 360 movement over 8, plus a bunch of skills added in. Highly recommend learning it. Yes it's difficult at first but within 6-9 months you'll be a better player for sure

Mate,have you ever tried playing with anybody together against COM on Legend difficulty on same console?When playing 2 or more players on same console,the mechanics of the game change very much and it makes it extremely difficult than if playing alone.That is the biggest challenge in PES.
Yup, I agree but if you have two top level players...you can have a huge advantage by covering two passing lanes instead of one
Spoony Pizzas Yes,playing in defence is more comfortable for me,when I do it with my brother or with my father(because they do it correctly) and we all are big masters in playing in defence.But,when playing like that from same console,the game makes your players slower and things like that,so when you get the ball and,say,try to play one-touch pass-it often doesn’t work.Same with dribbling.When playing 2 or more players from same console as coop,there is significant lag like that reminds me of like when playing online.As I said-you click to do one-touch pass,it often doesn’t happen.When try to dribble,you click it,but it happens only like a second or two after you clicked on it.Maybe they made it that way,because playing together on same console is advantage and they tried to make it more difficult that way.You’ll see it for yourself when you try to play on any high difficulty alone or together with somebody on same console on same side with you against computer.

it is the same game, nothing changes year to year.
just know that on superstar and legend, you're not playing a team, you're playing vs SCRIPT.

What i knew is to dominate any game against legend is to set the offense level to red. Play agresively, the cpu will make a lot of mistakes, Especially on a bigmatch like derby where you feel the cpu is very overpowered and the ref is on their side. Your player will have better responses, win ball easily and more important is they not doing stupid things.. But they will tired very quickly
Hi mate, it depends what the AI are doing (see attack / defence strategy video for more info - makes more sense) and it's all about positioning. Some formations, players and playstyles don't suit playing attacking football
Does this mean tactic work well with lower level leagues? EFL championship teams for instance?

Very frustrating to play against them with a very bad officiating that always favour them.
i use Roma in master league and play with legend difficulty. i lose my ball posssesion even i cant get just one shoot on goal. its make me so frustating. hope this video help my problem, sorry for my english, forza Roma

For me it's unplayable, They are Overpowered. They won't even let me do anything
This can't work out, man, this might work for you and with this formation. But do you know why this doesn't work? Because AI does fucking CHEAT on not only every move they make but also on OUR MOVES. Saw already players with 96 acc and in great form running like a 36 yes old cb on a bad day. Even passes are so weird and the ball feels heavy on each bloody pass a player of mine tries to do. Ball control, forget it.

Going back to Superstar, which is not that easy at all, where my players at least are using their bloody attributes RIGHT. Try ML with sides like Brighton or Villareal, not the very famous sides. To me Roma is still a very good side, compared to i.e. Marseille, Schalke and so on. I wanna see those pro guys doing ML with such sides on legend (or even on Superstar).
I win all my ML matches on SS. Legend is a good challenge, can't win all but I can get close to winning trophies
I get close to winning trophies on legendary when I have top players in the whole team and awesome wingers, but once you manage an Everton or Watford or Brighton it is a world of hurt on legendary. Super defensive setup helps but low quality attackers make it very hard to pull off wins and it becomes a downward spiral.
