Out of all the technology stacks, OLED variants, LED based tech, Micro-LED, and finally QDEL. which ones are going to be around in 10 years and which ones have no chance of surviving or even getting to market? Out all these technology branches the current available tech seems more than adequate for most buyers at all price points. So is there really a need for these new versions and technologies. Personally, I don't see Micro-LED ever breaking into the mainstream if current mini-led and oled do everything so well and QDEL is interesting, but not enough public information exist to tell if it's going to survive the R&D stages at this point. Curious for your thoughts.
It was a flagship because there wasn’t any qd oled back then and W oled wasn’t great outside dark rooms, right now the A95L from 2023 solved those issues and will be superior to the Bravia 9 from 2024 which is weird.
Proud owner of ZD9 upgraded to A95K. Miss something from the ZD9. Might be daytime brightness. Dark scenes look better though. But the upgrade wasn’t night and day.
Magic? RGB OLED is currently on phones and tablets so it's working on a smaller scale. TCL is saying 2000 nits peak brightness so we'll see if that's the case when TVs are released with this technology next year
Brian for gaming Oleds, something I just discovered is that BFI at 120hz is only available on LG c1 (or cx). So if you want gaming TVs, the best motion clarity is still a C1. And best value. Sadly BFI has been abandoned....
The problem with Sony it’s not there tech or advancements it’s there lack of fixing bugs in their firmware. LG are very fast at getting bugs fixed if possible on that model I mean the Sony have had problems with Dolby vision and lip sync problems since launch and that’s been 6 months and I bet the Bravia 9 will have the same problems. It’s not acceptable I am now looking at the LG g4 for this reason.
Not to mention their massive premium for the lackluster support. The A95L is still significantly more expensive than this year’s flagships and it is a last generation panel.
I'm OLED all the way for gaming, but if they can improve LED to OLED like levels I'd reconsider. I might swap my a80j that I use for tv and movies in a year or two for LED though depending how they are stacking up.
I agree. In most cases, oled simply has the best looking picture. The infinite contrast gives it the 3d pop that I don’t see in led. I will get a mini led when it beats oled in something besides “brightness”. Imo, the best looking tv I’ve seen is the G4. The A95L is 2nd. Proving to me that qd-oled doesn’t always beat woled (with mla). It’s really apples to oranges sometimes. I love the perfect natural colors and whites of the G4. 🤷🏻♂️
Forget about Pho-led. The new thing is “hyperfluorescent” OLEDs, where energy is transferred from a ‘sensitizer’ molecule to a separate ‘emitter’ molecule. Love how that article you showed about Pholed is from 2015 and says almost ready for televisions, lol. Yeah only been 9 years and counting since then.. It has taken them 9 years and industry saying it's not stable and producing more cyan color as per article. I don't even see it becoming a thing at all. What TV maker will risk their OLED lineup on a potential disaster of a TV that last a year before failing or burn in galore or even a few years. Not when they work better now as it is. Although not perfect. It's a pipe dream. UDC they are ready because they put a lot of money into it and want something out of it. That said I wish Samsung is still working on QNED. We need an in-organic version of OLED. It would solve any aging, burn in, ASBL and it would be the ultimate display tech and everything else can go the way of the DoDo.
Bravia 9 will be the best mini LED ever made but it still won’t compete with QDOLED on anything(outside the 10 movies that hit 4k nits) What is the flagship feature Sony wants to sell people on when there’s no content? I don’t see it tbh.
Do you want a future proof tv? Now that we have a 4,000 nits monitor movies are now going to be graded in 4k nits and some older movies will be released in 4k nits so you will be missing out.
Too many people think OLED is the be all and end all. Samsung have stopped buying QDOLED print technology and started to purchase lg display OLED panels. I wonder why…. Not all sunshine and rainbows it seems.
Movies are filmed with Sony cameras , edited and finalised with Sony master monitors (HX310), with the release of the new HX3110 at 4000 nits movie makers have pre ordered in drones. With the Bravia 9, you are covered for the future. Its black levels and contrast is highly close to OLED - which does not worth the extra $1k for OLED (check out the CES prototype backlight demo from Sony). The X95L is a great tv but looked lack lustre against the new Bravia 9's prototype then, along with samsung's.
@@profitfeveryou’re making too many assumptions without any proof and if you have read any news in past few months or years then you know Samsung and LG is trying keep South Korean in charge on display manufacturing and making sure the Chinese which is TCL and Hisense and keep them at bay hence two nemesis are working together and only reason WOLED is given any respect is because LG has begged Samsung and asked them to put WOLED in same position as QDOLED in Samsung range. Linus tech tips and South Korean news outlets have confirmed it just a google search will give you that information. The Chinese brands TCL and Hisense are taking over UK market with absolutely worse looking TV with terrible viewing angle and awful dirty screen and uniformity issues. They are taking advantage of the economic crisis in UK and Europe.
I can hardly imagine going away from OLED .. the perfect contrast is just something I can never accept missing whenever I have seen top Samsung QLED TVs at friend family. They are good no doubt, just feel like even the recent years couldn’t match my aging OLED.. But I am willing to see.. of course if I found it better the question would be content that utilize the brightness. Many if and maybe..
Yup, very possible. It's interesting to see how it all actually plays out because we hear about TADF OLED, plasmonic OLED, then QDEL, microLED etc, but which will actually happen and when?
I failed to understand how IJP OLED claiming with 2000 nits peak brightness is better than the existing QD-OLED. You have to take into account that TV makers won't push the panels to that brightness limit. This year both LGD and SDC already claimed their OLED panels being over 3000 nits, but no TV actually pushes that high anyway.
I think the two display manufacturers Samsung and LG Display are just trying to garner headlines with those brightness figures. Those >3000 nits claims from CES this year are measurements where the panel is pushed to it's absolute limit where durability/burn-in resistance and picture accuracy are disregarded. Those numbers are measured usually at a super cold colour temperature of 10,000-11000k and only for a 2% window size for 5 seconds. The TV manufacturers never hit the display companies' claims because they have to take durability into considerstion else they would have a lot of warranty claims from peoples' TVs being degraded after 3 months.
Basically what I'm saying is, we don't know which route TCL is taking with their brightness claims. The TV manufacturer route or the display maker route. It could be them saying at an accurate D65 white point for 10%of the screen they hit 2000 nits sustained. Or. They could be saying at a super cold 11,000k white point for 2% of the screen they can hit 2000 nits for 5 seconds. Time will tell.
I’ll be moving away from oled at the moment with the Bravia 9. Then see what the next flagship Sony oled is about and move the Bravia 9 to the bedroom lol
LG G3+ series uses MLA to get more brightness out of the display pixel though. If LG switched to QD OLED with blue PHOLED emissive layer + MLA for G5 or G6 their display would be unmatched.

If you look at Flatpanelshd's article from Dec 2023 titled 'TCL' s brighter printed RGB OLED TVs could arrive in 2025' the performance expected from inkjet printed RGB OLED is better than both WOLED and QD Oled.
I'm loving the U8N myself, had it a little more than a week and I'm completely blown away. It's so close to my OLED monitor in performance, but it gets so much brighter ... painfully so at times. I love it!

His reviews aren't based on fact. His entire thing is selling your customized settings as "pre-calibrated" ... but that's not actually how panel tech works. There's enough variance from panel to panel, even with the same TV model, that accurate calibration must be done per TV. There is no one size fits all, but he won't tell you that. How else is he going to fleece people?

Previous 75" Z9D Owner and upsized to 85" Z9K. 85" Bravia 9 sounds really tempting but still recovering from Sony Tax after purchasing the Z9K right after it was released. Entirely correct. It's not just how many zones you can cram in but how well you can control the zones you have. Sony now not only has a very high zone count and the best zone control to go with it, they will also have the ability to dim the LED's within a specific zone, not just turn them on and off. Huge advantage there!

@@stopthefomo I'm not sure, but I don't trust Sony. Samsung seems to have a better contrast. Sony TV always have foggy whitey effect on its contrast, not sure why and the display backlight control on X95L is so mediocre.
When the Pholed comes out. you will be buying another one shortly after since it will burn out fast lol. Pholed is dead in the water. Not going to be a thing. Just a company that made it desperate to sell it and make back R&D money.
I'm an OLED fan but the TV makers are dragging their feet on getting anything larger out that's anywhere near affordable. So high quality larger size mini LED is calling my name. Can't wait to learn more about the QN8 and u8n.
Can't wait till microLED becomes a thing, and till HDR as a whole becomes fully consumer ready/foolproof, where brightness levels are not predetermined/absolute, but fully user controllable with a simple linear tonemapping curve. For example, set the TV itself to 1000 peak, content becomes that. Set it to 3000, content adjusts linearly where elements that are 100 nits when set to 1000, become 300 nits. Set it to 500 nits, and that element becomes 50 nits. For games it would be great if it wasn't the console that sets the peak brightness and communicates it to the TV, but the other way around. The TV communicates it's current peak brightness to the console through HDMI, and the console adjusts the brightness curve/range in real time. This way you could simply use the TV's auto brightness, or have a brightness button on your remote like there is for audio volume. Would be so much better than having a predetermined brightness where the only brightness you can change is the peak, but everything else, for example the world in general, always stays at 200 nits. One can dream....
Researchers not being able to produce the blue pho oled reminds me of the Shuji Nakamura story, who won nobel prize in physics for his invention of the world's first blue LED
Yep, I agree. Can't go backwards. Companies like sony can't treat us like fools and cut down research and development to make a quick buck on this latest 4000nits nonsense. A highly non existent element in movies and they want to charge flagship prices. Yet they can't provide gigabyte ethernet, 4 2.1 hdmi 48gbps, won't fix DV, slow and mostly unresponsive android and ui. People need to wake up. Don't follow the marketing. Plus psy the sony tax. Yes and ironically even OLED blooms in our eyes if too bright. Not the OLED TV itself. But the bright light does it. No different that looking at a street lamp at night and it has that halo/bloom effect.
LG actually had true RGB OLED models but they were computer monitors (32EP950/27EP950). I believe ASUS ProArt PA32DCM was another one that used panels made by JOLED Inc. All discontinued as far as I know. I bought a 32EP950 just before it was discontinued at a 50% off clearance. Mostly use it for work, video/photo editing but also watching a lot of "TV" on it. Beautiful panel.
QD oled 3rd gen is inkjet printed too ,they just messed it up with that matt BS ,i wish they would make a 3rd gen glossy screen too for samsung or yhe other brands

A lot of interesting things happening at once now. High dimming zone mini-leds, QD oled, MLA, new blue LEDS with higher brightness and ELEAP from Japan Display / inkjet from TCL! And then microled is looming in the distance! Hard to choose a winner! But ELEAP with MLA could create some crazy brightness, unless the increased LED space of ELEAP leds cannot be fitted with MLA

I am pleased you laid down the law Bravia 9 is Flagship. I wanted the amazing Sony A95L, but pleased my 2017 40" Samsung is still holding out, and I did not get A95L. Now I want Bravia 9. I prefer 55" for my apartment, but I will just have to suffer with 65". Poor me😉
Good explination. I have the X95K, It's plenty bright and love it. It's my first new TV in 12 years. I don't see a need to upgrade again to the Bravia 9 until we get more 4K content to make it worthwhile. Hey, what's with the fake glasses?
Fomo, when you compare mini leds on challenging scenes that's my favorite part about your coverage. The reason why I like it so much is because it's a more difficult problem for TV makers to solve! The results are often wildly different and we get a true sense for what they value in picture quality after some hard decisions have to be made. OLED comparisons tend to be a little more subtle because they're all operating with that base level of pixel control.
FOMO trick question: What would you call a "bargain price" for 97" OLED? Realistically and put aside that it is still a ton of money. We see G2's in Europe on occasion at EUR 16k.
Can you do a comment on the newer Sony TVs and Google TV? Looking at Bravia 8. So what i want to compare is the new Sony TVs software vs Nidia Shield Pro and AI enhancement? I.e. get Bravia 8 and ditch Nvidia Shield Pro 😊

I want to know what ever happened to OLET (Organic Light Emitting Transistor). That was supposed to be the big new technology that replaced OLED with lower costs, higher yields and better performance. That was the big story for a while and then all of a sudden it was gone. Where did that technology go?

I think qd oled is superior to rgb oled. If you look at a spectral power distribution chart, the peaks of red and green look more “pure” on qd oled than they do for pure rgb emitters. I think the light that is converted by quantum dots is somehow filtered and ends up more pure than the light from emitters alone. For some reason, i find the pq on my s95b more pleasing to the eye than my iphone 15 pro and this is my theory why.
so, what is the release date of the new lineup? I am skeptical on Bravia 9, but worth a shot. At least there won´t be OLED burn-in, meaning durability. That´s something worth for me.
Pholed will not come before the CES2026 line-up. RGB IJP Oled could be already next year there but i think first for small displays like tablets or notebooks
My Samsung Galaxy S23 uses a AMOLED, I thought. Whih is what Samsung ran to the market with back in the day but the TV's were to susceptible to burn in.
Yes, plenty of TVs do shadow detail really well. They do contrast really well. It's the minimum I'd expect from a flagship TV, and the Sony can't do it as good. That disqualifies it, even if it is better at other things. It's like a car... it has to be a sports car but also daily driver. And then you put an F1 car in the grid. Yeah, it is faster. It corners harder. But the bare minimum is seat 4 adults and some luggage. The F1 car can't do it. Yes, what it does is harder to achieve, and it goes beyond what all the other cars, M5, Tesla Model S Plaid, Lucid Air Sapphire und what not can do. But still, it isn't as good as those other cars for the use case. Also, is there really anyone except for Samsung who considers the QN900B, C and D a flagship TV? Every reviewer and probably most consumers saw the S95B, C and D as the actual flagship in Samsungs line up. And in Sonys line up the A95L is this years flagship. Overall it's the TV I'd want. I don't give a rats ass about the Bravia 9. It is the inferior model. Blooming is not an option. At all. So the Bravia will really have to be pretty dim, dimmer than my OLED in order to achieve that. If it does. What's the point, again? Not even Apple is able to make a blooming free display, and they have more zones and probably more advanced processing.
RGB OLED CES 2026/2027 for 65, 70, 75 inches sizes and i think first Pholed displays for consumers showed on CES2026 ELQD also named QDEL or Nanoled or QDLED CES2027 So 2027 could be verry nice with 2 new tv technologies

Bravia 9 may hit 4000 nits in HDR, but very little HDR content even hits 1000 nits. Unless you are talking about gaming. IMO, B9 will only excel in SDR where you will be able to crank it up for bright room SDR viewing. I would imagine full screen will be near 1000 nits which will be great for bright rooms SDR viewing.
I think people get too caught up in the highlights it's really the APLs you want to get right. OLED is still very much mindful about heat and energy and that's why ABL still exists. The Advantage of B9 imo is that It will easily handle basically all APLS and still have some headroom for highlights within!
I'm excited, not only for the big leap from Sony, but this feels like the first year since before COVID that all manufacturers are on a normal delivery cycle.
I'm not a fanboy for any particular video tech. I just want it to be completely accurate and be bright. Mini/MicroLED or OLED. Don't care. I have a 2017 C-series OLED from LG that's still kickin. It's noticeably dimmer now and is sort of disappointing during dark scenes in the day-time. But it still looks decent. I can't buy another display until mine breaks or 2027 rolls around. So, it's all just admiring from afar.
Most of my products are Sony in fact I'm using 2 Sony Xperias 📱 but I don't think Sony's flagship tvs are worth the price compared to the competition. Image quality may be a tad bit better but motion is good but not all people care about that and the Input Latency (gaming Input lag) is not on the same level like Samsung LGs & even Hisense tvs which are way cheaper. You have to put the TV next to another TV to actually notice the minor differences. I'm definitely getting either a Hisense U8N or a Samsung S95C/S90D.
Always was an LED fan. I have a Woled and QD oled right now, but would love to get that super bright WOW I used to get, from LED(had a vizio that was crazy bright).
My A9G is so good I’ll stick to my OLED I want a95L 77” and a A80L 83” A95L for quality and A80L for size -Budget isn’t an issue, I’m sticking to quality
I saw recent article claiming University of Michigan increasing lifespan of blue phosphorescent oled. Not sure what other issues there may be with what that approach
OLED is extremely overrated. After having an A9G and S95B, I can say I prefer my Samsung q8fn. OLEDs are either dim or too dark. I wouldn't mind jumping on the miniLED ship. Just ky opinion.

Most tv buyers are men, and men watch sports and broadcast streaming tv in 4k or under for up scaling, so that said, Sony is the best, so lets see how the bravia 9 stacks up with the a95l and the G4.

I couldn't buy a 2023 TV for FOMO on '24. LG's G4 vindicates me. But I can't buy a G4 for FOMO on the '25 Sony flagship rgb oled. When that arrives you and Brian can fly down here and to me get this 300+ LB 40" Sony XBR800 Trinitron out of the room. Who doesn't miss those drinking games played after a few friends came over to install your massive CRT with all the weight at the front?
Sony Fanboy here. Sony's Flagship was ALWAYS LED!!!. The Z series!. BUT, the Bravia 9 shouldn't be the flagship. We need an 8K successor to the Z9K. Call it the Bravia 11 (with Bravia 10 being a QD-OLED). I know 8K isn't necessary but it's the cherry on top.

It's a pipe dream. UDC they are ready because they put a lot of money into it and want something out of it.
That said I wish Samsung is still working on QNED. We need an in-organic version of OLED. It would solve any aging, burn in, ASBL and it would be the ultimate display tech and everything else can go the way of the DoDo.

Bravia 9 will be the best mini LED ever made but it still won’t compete with QDOLED on anything(outside the 10 movies that hit 4k nits) What is the flagship feature Sony wants to sell people on when there’s no content? I don’t see it tbh.
Do you want a future proof tv? Now that we have a 4,000 nits monitor movies are now going to be graded in 4k nits and some older movies will be released in 4k nits so you will be missing out.
Too many people think OLED is the be all and end all. Samsung have stopped buying QDOLED print technology and started to purchase lg display OLED panels. I wonder why…. Not all sunshine and rainbows it seems.

Movies are filmed with Sony cameras , edited and finalised with Sony master monitors (HX310), with the release of the new HX3110 at 4000 nits movie makers have pre ordered in drones. With the Bravia 9, you are covered for the future. Its black levels and contrast is highly close to OLED - which does not worth the extra $1k for OLED (check out the CES prototype backlight demo from Sony). The X95L is a great tv but looked lack lustre against the new Bravia 9's prototype then, along with samsung's.
@@profitfeveryou’re making too many assumptions without any proof and if you have read any news in past few months or years then you know Samsung and LG is trying keep South Korean in charge on display manufacturing and making sure the Chinese which is TCL and Hisense and keep them at bay hence two nemesis are working together and only reason WOLED is given any respect is because LG has begged Samsung and asked them to put WOLED in same position as QDOLED in Samsung range. Linus tech tips and South Korean news outlets have confirmed it just a google search will give you that information. The Chinese brands TCL and Hisense are taking over UK market with absolutely worse looking TV with terrible viewing angle and awful dirty screen and uniformity issues. They are taking advantage of the economic crisis in UK and Europe.
Time to start saving up for that Bravia 9 (then for the Bravia Theater Quad).
How is the c4? Is it a real upgrade from c3 and its closer to g4?
I can hardly imagine going away from OLED .. the perfect contrast is just something I can never accept missing whenever I have seen top Samsung QLED TVs at friend family. They are good no doubt, just feel like even the recent years couldn’t match my aging OLED..
But I am willing to see.. of course if I found it better the question would be content that utilize the brightness.

Yup, very possible. It's interesting to see how it all actually plays out because we hear about TADF OLED, plasmonic OLED, then QDEL, microLED etc, but which will actually happen and when?
I failed to understand how IJP OLED claiming with 2000 nits peak brightness is better than the existing QD-OLED. You have to take into account that TV makers won't push the panels to that brightness limit. This year both LGD and SDC already claimed their OLED panels being over 3000 nits, but no TV actually pushes that high anyway.
I think the two display manufacturers Samsung and LG Display are just trying to garner headlines with those brightness figures. Those >3000 nits claims from CES this year are measurements where the panel is pushed to it's absolute limit where durability/burn-in resistance and picture accuracy are disregarded. Those numbers are measured usually at a super cold colour temperature of 10,000-11000k and only for a 2% window size for 5 seconds. The TV manufacturers never hit the display companies' claims because they have to take durability into considerstion else they would have a lot of warranty claims from peoples' TVs being degraded after 3 months.
Basically what I'm saying is, we don't know which route TCL is taking with their brightness claims. The TV manufacturer route or the display maker route. It could be them saying at an accurate D65 white point for 10%of the screen they hit 2000 nits sustained. Or. They could be saying at a super cold 11,000k white point for 2% of the screen they can hit 2000 nits for 5 seconds. Time will tell.
I’ll be moving away from oled at the moment with the Bravia 9. Then see what the next flagship Sony oled is about and move the Bravia 9 to the bedroom lol
LG G3+ series uses MLA to get more brightness out of the display pixel though.
If LG switched to QD OLED with blue PHOLED emissive layer + MLA for G5 or G6 their display would be unmatched.

I can’t see Sony adopting RGBOLED as a flagship. Since Sony is striving for HDR impact they will more likely return to a brighter QD OLED
If you look at Flatpanelshd's article from Dec 2023 titled 'TCL' s brighter printed RGB OLED TVs could arrive in 2025' the performance expected from inkjet printed RGB OLED is better than both WOLED and QD Oled.
I'm loving the U8N myself, had it a little more than a week and I'm completely blown away. It's so close to my OLED monitor in performance, but it gets so much brighter ... painfully so at times. I love it!

His reviews aren't based on fact. His entire thing is selling your customized settings as "pre-calibrated" ... but that's not actually how panel tech works. There's enough variance from panel to panel, even with the same TV model, that accurate calibration must be done per TV. There is no one size fits all, but he won't tell you that. How else is he going to fleece people?

Previous 75" Z9D Owner and upsized to 85" Z9K. 85" Bravia 9 sounds really tempting but still recovering from Sony Tax after purchasing the Z9K right after it was released. It’s important not to just compare dimming zones, but point out Sony’s more continuous amplitude level control vs just on/off.
Entirely correct. It's not just how many zones you can cram in but how well you can control the zones you have. Sony now not only has a very high zone count and the best zone control to go with it, they will also have the ability to dim the LED's within a specific zone, not just turn them on and off. Huge advantage there!

X95L is essentially the Bravia 7 and it’s obvious that B9 has better contrast and blooming control getting closer to OLED performance than the B7.
@@stopthefomo I'm not sure, but I don't trust Sony. Samsung seems to have a better contrast. Sony TV always have foggy whitey effect on its contrast, not sure why and the display backlight control on X95L is so mediocre.
I do see Bravia 9 as a flagship. Mini led also is brighter than oled in "full screen", I see the advantage there in some sports like soccer

Your the majority of sonys flagship tvs have been lcds , I am like Brian I will take infinite contrast over brightness .
Can't wait till microLED becomes a thing, and till HDR as a whole becomes fully consumer ready/foolproof, where brightness levels are not predetermined/absolute, but fully user controllable with a simple linear tonemapping curve. For example, set the TV itself to 1000 peak, content becomes that. Set it to 3000, content adjusts linearly where elements that are 100 nits when set to 1000, become 300 nits. Set it to 500 nits, and that element becomes 50 nits. For games it would be great if it wasn't the console that sets the peak brightness and communicates it to the TV, but the other way around. The TV communicates it's current peak brightness to the console through HDMI, and the console adjusts the brightness curve/range in real time. This way you could simply use the TV's auto brightness, or have a brightness button on your remote like there is for audio volume. Would be so much better than having a predetermined brightness where the only brightness you can change is the peak, but everything else, for example the world in general, always stays at 200 nits. One can dream....
The Sony Bravia 9 will have a great many new features that would make it a good buy even at msrp.
Researchers not being able to produce the blue pho oled reminds me of the Shuji Nakamura story, who won nobel prize in physics for his invention of the world's first blue LED

Yep, I agree. Can't go backwards. Companies like sony can't treat us like fools and cut down research and development to make a quick buck on this latest 4000nits nonsense. A highly non existent element in movies and they want to charge flagship prices. Yet they can't provide gigabyte ethernet, 4 2.1 hdmi 48gbps, won't fix DV, slow and mostly unresponsive android and ui. People need to wake up. Don't follow the marketing. Plus psy the sony tax. Yes and ironically even OLED blooms in our eyes if too bright. Not the OLED TV itself. But the bright light does it. No different that looking at a street lamp at night and it has that halo/bloom effect.
LG actually had true RGB OLED models but they were computer monitors (32EP950/27EP950). I believe ASUS ProArt PA32DCM was another one that used panels made by JOLED Inc. All discontinued as far as I know. I bought a 32EP950 just before it was discontinued at a 50% off clearance. Mostly use it for work, video/photo editing but also watching a lot of "TV" on it. Beautiful panel.
LCD technology is suitable for cheap office monitors and the most high-end TVs...
QD oled 3rd gen is inkjet printed too ,they just messed it up with that matt BS ,i wish they would make a 3rd gen glossy screen too for samsung or yhe other brands
The only thing that uses inkjet printing on QD Oled are the quantum dots.

A lot of interesting things happening at once now. High dimming zone mini-leds, QD oled, MLA, new blue LEDS with higher brightness and ELEAP from Japan Display / inkjet from TCL! And then microled is looming in the distance!
Hard to choose a winner! But ELEAP with MLA could create some crazy brightness, unless the increased LED space of ELEAP leds cannot be fitted with MLA

Good explination. I have the X95K, It's plenty bright and love it. It's my first new TV in 12 years. I don't see a need to upgrade again to the Bravia 9 until we get more 4K content to make it worthwhile. Hey, what's with the fake glasses?
Fomo, when you compare mini leds on challenging scenes that's my favorite part about your coverage. The reason why I like it so much is because it's a more difficult problem for TV makers to solve! The results are often wildly different and we get a true sense for what they value in picture quality after some hard decisions have to be made. OLED comparisons tend to be a little more subtle because they're all operating with that base level of pixel control.
FOMO trick question: What would you call a "bargain price" for 97" OLED? Realistically and put aside that it is still a ton of money. We see G2's in Europe on occasion at EUR 16k.
Can you do a comment on the newer Sony TVs and Google TV? Looking at Bravia 8. So what i want to compare is the new Sony TVs software vs Nidia Shield Pro and AI enhancement? I.e. get Bravia 8 and ditch Nvidia Shield Pro 😊

SHARP showed some really dim prototypes of QDEL(Quantum Dot Electro-luminescence) at CES this year behind closed doors. Digital Trends has an article about it.
I want to know what ever happened to OLET (Organic Light Emitting Transistor). That was supposed to be the big new technology that replaced OLED with lower costs, higher yields and better performance. That was the big story for a while and then all of a sudden it was gone. Where did that technology go?

I think qd oled is superior to rgb oled. If you look at a spectral power distribution chart, the peaks of red and green look more “pure” on qd oled than they do for pure rgb emitters. I think the light that is converted by quantum dots is somehow filtered and ends up more pure than the light from emitters alone. For some reason, i find the pq on my s95b more pleasing to the eye than my iphone 15 pro and this is my theory why.
so, what is the release date of the new lineup? I am skeptical on Bravia 9, but worth a shot. At least there won´t be OLED burn-in, meaning durability. That´s something worth for me.
Pholed will not come before the CES2026 line-up. RGB IJP Oled could be already next year there but i think first for small displays like tablets or notebooks

My Samsung Galaxy S23 uses a AMOLED, I thought. Whih is what Samsung ran to the market with back in the day but the TV's were to susceptible to burn in.
Yes, plenty of TVs do shadow detail really well. They do contrast really well. It's the minimum I'd expect from a flagship TV, and the Sony can't do it as good. That disqualifies it, even if it is better at other things. It's like a car... it has to be a sports car but also daily driver. And then you put an F1 car in the grid. Yeah, it is faster. It corners harder. But the bare minimum is seat 4 adults and some luggage. The F1 car can't do it. Yes, what it does is harder to achieve, and it goes beyond what all the other cars, M5, Tesla Model S Plaid, Lucid Air Sapphire und what not can do. But still, it isn't as good as those other cars for the use case.
Also, is there really anyone except for Samsung who considers the QN900B, C and D a flagship TV? Every reviewer and probably most consumers saw the S95B, C and D as the actual flagship in Samsungs line up. And in Sonys line up the A95L is this years flagship. Overall it's the TV I'd want. I don't give a rats ass about the Bravia 9. It is the inferior model.
Blooming is not an option. At all. So the Bravia will really have to be pretty dim, dimmer than my OLED in order to achieve that. If it does. What's the point, again? Not even Apple is able to make a blooming free display, and they have more zones and probably more advanced processing.

Bravia 9 may hit 4000 nits in HDR, but very little HDR content even hits 1000 nits. Unless you are talking about gaming. IMO, B9 will only excel in SDR where you will be able to crank it up for bright room SDR viewing. I would imagine full screen will be near 1000 nits which will be great for bright rooms SDR viewing.
I think people get too caught up in the highlights it's really the APLs you want to get right. OLED is still very much mindful about heat and energy and that's why ABL still exists. The Advantage of B9 imo is that It will easily handle basically all APLS and still have some headroom for highlights within!

I'm excited, not only for the big leap from Sony, but this feels like the first year since before COVID that all manufacturers are on a normal delivery cycle.
I'm not a fanboy for any particular video tech. I just want it to be completely accurate and be bright. Mini/MicroLED or OLED. Don't care. I have a 2017 C-series OLED from LG that's still kickin. It's noticeably dimmer now and is sort of disappointing during dark scenes in the day-time. But it still looks decent.
I can't buy another display until mine breaks or 2027 rolls around. So, it's all just admiring from afar.
When their own older flagship tv has better picture quality the 9 is hard to justify.

Most of my products are Sony in fact I'm using 2 Sony Xperias 📱 but I don't think Sony's flagship tvs are worth the price compared to the competition. Image quality may be a tad bit better but motion is good but not all people care about that and the Input Latency (gaming Input lag) is not on the same level like Samsung LGs & even Hisense tvs which are way cheaper. You have to put the TV next to another TV to actually notice the minor differences. I'm definitely getting either a Hisense U8N or a Samsung S95C/S90D.

OLED is extremely overrated. After having an A9G and S95B, I can say I prefer my Samsung q8fn. OLEDs are either dim or too dark. I wouldn't mind jumping on the miniLED ship. Just ky opinion.

Sony Fanboy here. Sony's Flagship was ALWAYS LED!!!. The Z series!. BUT, the Bravia 9 shouldn't be the flagship. We need an 8K successor to the Z9K. Call it the Bravia 11 (with Bravia 10 being a QD-OLED). I know 8K isn't necessary but it's the cherry on top.
