    Picking these up in 40’s and going to run on my JTR with upgraded 44’s (truss, shafts, ball joints)
    The weight of the 40” milestar’s is lower than the 37” ridge grapplers I have currently. Rotational mass is going DOWN while my diameter is going up. I accept the weaker sidewall 🤷🏻‍♂️

      Nice! That's one thing I always tell people about these tires is that the weight is much less than some others. I've run most big name tire brands over the years and lost a side wall on all of them. Knock on wood, I have yet to lose a sidewall on any of my Patagonia's. I ran 2 sets on my JK and 3 on my JL (Original MT's, Black Labels and now MT02's). Plus my wifes MT02's on her Gladiator.

    I am still running Pata M/T and I am worried that the new 02's will not provide as good of grip with the harder compound and they also look like they closed up the tread gap. So now they are not as much M/T as an X/T. I hope they will still offer the M/t and not replace them.

    • @ELEVENSDIRTLIFE
      @ELEVENSDIRTLIFE  Před rokem +1

      The MT02 compound is great. I prefer it in the rocks over the M/T Black Label and standard M/T compounds. On road the MT02 has been phenomenal for a M/T tire. My wife has over 40K miles on her MT02's currently. The tread gap is almost identical and they are still very much a M/T and not an X/T. It is a far superior tire to the original M/T.

    More companies need to compete in the 38in tire range. The stock 44 axles especially on the Rubicons and Max Tow are beefier than standard 44 axles. If you look at 1 tons from a few years ago the newer 44s are pretty close. My biggest issue with Patagonia tires were not up to the 3k range, It's how they degenerate and get so mad after 3k miles. I really want to try the -02 version, but you guys are the first "Review" I've seen, but I'm skeptical until I see a review at the 20k miles mark..

    • @ELEVENSDIRTLIFE
      @ELEVENSDIRTLIFE  Před 2 lety

      Thanks! For wheeling, 100% beadlocks are the way to go especially if you are needing to get low double digit/single digit psi range. For daily drivers they can be tricky. Most tire shops wont touch them b/c almost all of them are not DOT approved for road and highway use. That means you are likely going to need to mount them your self. I've run beadlocks on my daily driver for years and have had no issues but have mounted every single tire myself.

  • @65dalexander

    In the 40 inch tire, Milestar shows a M/T 121Q, A M/T 121Q D/8, AND A X/T 121Q D/8 BW. What is difference and what would you recommemend for mall crawler, wanting smooth and quite as possible....

    • @ELEVENSDIRTLIFE
      @ELEVENSDIRTLIFE  Před rokem +1

      I'm not 100% sure the difference between the M/T 121Q and M/T 121Q D/8. I believe those refer to the original M/T compound and possibly are the regular and black label (DOT Sticky).
      I would recommend the new compound in the MT/02. The 40x13.50 R17 is going to be item number 22235004. The best place to grab those online is going to be through Northridge 4x4 .
      The other tire you referenced is the X/T and is a hybrid between an All Terrain (A/T) and a Mud Terrain (M/T). The item number for those in the 40x13.5 R17 is going to be 22235003 and same with the MT02 @northridge4x4 is the best place to get those. (I'd confirm with whomever you are buying tires from that the item numbers I gave you are correct for your setup but they should be accurate based off what I'm seeing on Milestar and Northridge's websites).
      The X/T is not going to look as aggressive as the MT02 but it would be your best road manners tire in that size. That said the MT02 are great on the road as well. My wife has close to 30k miles on hers and drives hers everyday and I'm currently running them in a 42" on my daily and they perform fantastic on the road. The key with this tire is tire pressure. They have been designed to run at 34 psi and up. I run mine between 34-35 psi and have had great results with road manners and tread life.

    • @ELEVENSDIRTLIFE
      @ELEVENSDIRTLIFE  Před rokem +1

      We don't do a ton of snow wheeling but have had good results in the snow. The tread design allows for good snow evacuation. I really got to see this first hand when I went up to Ellensburg WA for some deep snow wheeling (I was on another brand of tires at the time) and all the rigs on Patagonia's had clear tread and the rest of us had snow all packed in ours.

    I'm getting ready to buy a set of these. I'm going with a 3.5" metalcloak lift to go with it. What do you think of these in a daily driver and what kind of mileage could I look at getting.

    • @ELEVENSDIRTLIFE
      @ELEVENSDIRTLIFE  Před rokem +1

      These are fantastic on a daily driver. My wife and I both drive our jeeps everyday and they are our primary modes of transportation. The Milestar Patagonia is designed to perform well on road with its crowned shape. Having proper tire pressure (34-38 psi) in this tire will allow you to be on that center tread block, which keeps road noise down and has them track really well on the road. You see a lot of other brand mud terrain tires running lower pressure on the road (mid 20's) to create a flat contact patch because of the flat tire design. This is great for a softer ride but hurts gas mileage and over all on road performance.
      Milestar designed the Patagonia MT02 to be run closer to factory tire pressure for a reason, to help provide the best on road tire performance you can get out of a MT/Offroad tire. It really gives you the best of both worlds with great on and offroad performance.
      My wife has close to 30k miles on her MT02's and they are wearing out great and have great tread life still left on them.
