    Back in 1964 I was 12 years old. My family borrowed my aunt Ruth's 63 1/2 Ford Galaxy and took it from Amarillo to Galveston to visit aunt Margreete. I was into cars then and still enjoy them. Her car was white with a 352 V8 and automatic transmission with a red interior. It was a 4-door and had a radio. Great ride! I still remember swimming in the Gulf of Mexico and walking on the decks of the USS battleshipTexas at the Battle of San Jacinto state park. Good times! Mickey Thompson's racecar triggered all those good memories of that Ford family car and vacation. Motor on y'all!

      Yea, thanks. Had High School Schoolmate, one year ahead of me, get a. BLACK/ Black 427/4 speed: blew engine in a year or less: Sat many years behind his home,etc. Anyways, always pumped me up: FORDS 427.. i had a lot of Fords: though did find a nice Burgandy 1966 XL/ 4 Speed /352/ Black INT/ps/PB IN 1967, that got me thru Pharmacy School( Purdue),& etc. Upgraded Brakes, and a lot of it ...always wanted the 428/7 LITRE/427 or even a INTERCEPTOR/390 would have been nice, though the 352/4 BBL MAY HAVE saved me a LOT of expense OVER THE other engines.!..,.,,Incidentally seeing a lot more FCODE, SUPERCHARGED, SPECIAL TBIRD,Interceptor than ever before, on You Tube. Ford had a lot of stuff, Performance, even in 1950’s, and Dealer stuff(e.g 3x2 bbl in Trunk of new cars, & awktched, etc)..

    Somewhere in the '80's (? not sure the year) I went to Mickey Thompson's shop while he was holding a "garage sale" of his overflowing excess of Ford stuff. At the time I had a '69 Mach 1 Cobra jet 4 speed, and on my small budget I hoped to score a 428 PI intake. There was a stunning amount of rare and unusual one off type of parts, a number of FE engines: tunnel ports and more. There were guys lined up with stacks of cash paying Mickey's prices. It was surreal: the pace at which Mickey was closing deals, the money changing hands, and all manner of M/T parts that I never knew existed. He may have sold some cars as well. Such a shame that a vengeful idiot ex business partner had Mickey and Trudy killed a couple of years later.

    • @davenettlesmusic2954
      @davenettlesmusic2954 Před 3 lety +1

      I couldn't agree with you more. I could never understand why they killed Trudy too. My feeling always was that if this guy lost money on a deal with Mick he must have been the dumbest guy in the world. For sure Mickey was a prince.

    • @Thomas63r2
      @Thomas63r2 Před 3 lety +2

      @@davenettlesmusic2954 It was a seriously low budget hit, which is why it was ultimately solved. The hit men were not pros, just thugs, they would have killed anyone who was there. The business deal in question mainly had Mr. Goodwin to blame - he had been lucky in business before, but he was not much of a businessman otherwise. Mickey parted ways because Mr. Goodwin couldn't perform.

Off set ground stroker crank, smaller longer H beam rods were 80-90s tech, and the heads are simlar to TODAYS CNC billet stuff and the 3 peice pushrods... Just unbelivable. Unbelivable. I just dont get Mickey Thompsons 1940s education, engineering all the crap he did with aluminium. He musta had a ton of freinds is all I can say. My opinion, the '63 fastback was the Best looking Ford of all Fords. I had a 289 auto and the car was sweet as could be.
