lumine is the offensive twin while aether is the defensive twin basically, also their color palettes suggest lumine as the colder one, hence why more people loved seeing her play the abyss twin since her expressions and tone is much more colder than what abyss aether had to offer edited: a little fact if you didnt know, its actually directed that lumine is the cooler twin and aether the more adorable twin (look up lumines jp va interview) but in hangouts she does seem like shes bright and more outgoing than aether, i guessed that it was her original personality before the abyss, i do like this aspect since it makes it far way more heartwrenching to see your usually bright younger sister suddenly so cold and distant, aether being the quieter twin also matches up with the traveller choosing to speak very little words
If you look at the official arts of the twins and like the hangouts you can see lumine is significantly more expressive than Aether is. So I don’t understand, in that aspect, why people say she’s better as the abyss princess. I, personally, feel like her colors match more with the abyss? Idk if this makes sense but, when thinking of the abyss, I think off like bluish colors. Like dainsleif and the abyss herald. Aethers clothes may be darker but they sure are warmer looking(they’re like brownish/Gold.) so aesthetically, she does fit the role better, that’s the only reason I can see that people would say she’s better at being the abyss twin. @@boyfurina SAME my god. I always preferred abyss Aether and playable Lumine, because Aether feels much more somber and melancholic about his cause, whereas Lumine comes across as harsh or cold. It's pretty much just the difference between a sad villain and an angry villain. I think abyss aether makes it easier to sympathize with him, and also gives me far more hope that he can be rescued from the abyss and/or we'll join the cause later on. Meanwhile, playable Lumine is hilarious and expressive with our gluttonous emergency food doing all the talking for her haha

imo lumine just looks better in both parts (though I will admit hoyo definitely prefers aether seeing as how every artwork and everything has him in it, which isn't really a bad thing).
I watched this one day before I started playing genshin, helped me a lot with my choice, I will be playing for exactly 1 year tomorrow (11th of may) thank you❤
Their combat styles are complementary. It seems as a twins who fight together Lumine focuses more on attack, while Aether focuses on Defense (defending lumine). You can even see this during the Yunjin Song MV where Aether has a defensive stance (including with his shoulder pad) while Lumine's more into attack.(with no armor, seems that she relies on Aether for defense)
It kind of shows how the Twins basically relies on eachother for everything, since they have no-one else left and failed to defend their original home. It's both wholesome and sad.
People say Lumine fits abyss princess because she appears colder but i think there's something truly tragic about the more easy going and cheerful twin becoming cold and depressed

Bruhh I chose Lumine since 1. I'm a girl and 2. Lumine looked cute to me at the time I started playing.. and then a year later into playing genshin, I turned into a simp for Aether myself-
I believe this is because the twins used to fight together. Since they were always by each others side, of course they would develop a fighting style to complement each others skills. Lumine is hinted to be the more offensive twin. Such as in the scene where we first meet Lisa and Jean she looks straight at the individuals. While Aether, who is hinted to be the more defensive twin, looks around. (No clue if I mixed them up, I just saw it on a random CZcams vid💀💀)
Also, in shenhe’s quest, in the cutscene where Yunjin dances/performs the opera you can see that the way Lumine is holding her sword is as if she’s about to attack (offensive), and if you chose Aether he holds it as if he’s defending them (defensive).

Another difference in the story is how when Lumine was in a coma when they were both in Kaenriah, Aether put a flower in Lumine's hair but when Lumine is the Abyss sibling she just puts the Inteyvat in her own hair lol
It’s kinda weird from lumine’s mc pov, cus she was still wearing the flower when they fought the unknown god. But from abyss lumine pov, she liked the flower and took it when both twins were still in khaenri'ah. In teyvat chapter Daiself said that when he was traveling with abyss lumine, “I remember how much she loved these flowers” ’inteyvat’. So if he was traveling with abyss Aether, what thing will remember him by?
I feel like the lumine players could have some cool theories about that for her about that part. Something about the twins originally being from teyvat probably

I chose Lumine because I love her flowers dress then on another account I picked Aether because his Cape is hella cool. I love them both so much. Equality and justice for both twins!!
I also picked Aether because in each animation, including his signature Windblade, he actually puts some force into that attack like all of his Normal ATKs. Lumine has a bit more swiftness with less strength and she also has less "strain" with using her Element.
i will 21 crown my lumine(if aether was my choice i would 21 crown him too), for now all her 9 talents are at 9, waiting for dendro's to be at 9 before crowning the current elements
When I first started I saw a video where Lumine is stronger than Aether and Aether was fast, but I was dumb back then when I got on pc I chose Aether and I saw a bit of a difference in speed and I was really happy because I travel a lot instead of fighting and doing quests.
I like how Aether just seems excited for adventure in one of his Japanese voicelines when you add him to your party. When ally is at low health he says something along the lines of "Let me take over!" in an eager voice. He's like a little dog and Lumine is a cat

Aether is more fond of the heat and Lumine is more fond of the cold, so they are probably to reference star (sun) and moon. Not to mention one of Lumine’s name translations is “Firefly” which are nocturnal!
Aether constellation represent the Moon meanwhile his sword represent a star Lumine is the same but the opposite so maybe that means that they both represent both things
I'll add that their normal attacks are different because they complement each other! Also, when the unknown god captures Lumine, she switches hand the moment after and puts her in the left hand, while when she captures Aether, he's already in the UG's left hand!
i liked aethers color palette better and also panicked. no regrets, i love seeing lumine as the abyss twin and for me at least aether is more natural as the traveller. probably due to playing as him for 2 years
In the chasp story quest with Dainslef, Aether finds a flower, saying thats the same belonging to his sister. While Lumine says thats the same flower she got when she woke up

I have a sweet ( angst ) fiction, what if abyss Aether puts the flower on Lumine's hair when they were travelling as memory after the cataclysm. Like he be like "Hey sis, i got a gift for you. Its my favourite flower. *calmly places flower in her hair* . Lumine is like cool with it and compliment how gorgeous the flower is. When she woke up from a *sleep* ( 500 years in slumber ) she realises Aether is not besides her as always and walks to the water, saw her reflection and questioned about the flower in her hair. Then she remembers that Aether placed it and start to cry softly like a baby cause she misses him.

Aether's defense stat is higher while Lumine's attack stat is higher, hinting to their roles while travelling together. He moves faster which allows him to cover more distance, while Lumine is able to attack quicker, allowing her to go on the offensive. In side by side cutscenes, Aether's reaction is generally a bit more reserved and careful while Lumine is slightly more open and expressive. He sometimes even reacts with a frown while Lumine looks worried. During the fake Albedo cutscene, you can see Aether staying on his guard with his sword up, while Lumine relaxes almost immediately. In the cutscene where you first meet Jean, you can also see Aether considering the surroundings first (defense; mature and careful, coming up with countermeasures if something goes wrong) while Lumine looks to the people right away (offense; carefree but watchful). You can also see her being pretty expressive in official artworks while Aether looks gentle. An example of this would be the artwork from "Genshin x 知乎(Zhihu) event "最好的伙伴" - The best partner" where she has a big smile in the photo while Aether is watching over her from behind. Another example would be the Hoyo Fest official art from genshinimpactkr where she also has a big smile while Aether watches over her with a gentle face. Their combat styles are complementary. It seems as a twins who fight together Lumine focuses more on attack, while Aether focuses on Defense (defending lumine). You can even see this during the Yunjin Song MV where Aether has a defensive stance (including with his shoulder pad) while Lumine's more into attack.(with no armor, seems that she relies on Aether for defense)

I believe this is because the twins used to fight together. Since they were always by each others side, of course they would develop a fighting style to complement each others skills. Lumine is hinted to be the more offensive twin. Such as in the scene where we first meet Lisa and Jean she looks straight at the individuals. While Aether, who is hinted to be the more defensive twin, looks around.
(No clue if I mixed them up, I just saw it on a random CZcams vid💀💀)
Also, in shenhe’s quest, in the cutscene where Yunjin dances/performs the opera you can see that the way Lumine is holding her sword is as if she’s about to attack (offensive), and if you chose Aether he holds it as if he’s defending them (defensive).

Another difference in the story is how when Lumine was in a coma when they were both in Kaenriah, Aether put a flower in Lumine's hair but when Lumine is the Abyss sibling she just puts the Inteyvat in her own hair lol

Apparently there attack animations are different Because when they’re fighting together they’re covering each other’s Blindspot’s
I also picked Aether because in each animation, including his signature Windblade, he actually puts some force into that attack like all of his Normal ATKs. Lumine has a bit more swiftness with less strength and she also has less "strain" with using her Element.

When I first started I saw a video where Lumine is stronger than Aether and Aether was fast, but I was dumb back then when I got on pc I chose Aether and I saw a bit of a difference in speed and I was really happy because I travel a lot instead of fighting and doing quests.

Aether is more fond of the heat and Lumine is more fond of the cold, so they are probably to reference star (sun) and moon. I have a sweet ( angst ) fiction, what if abyss Aether puts the flower on Lumine's hair when they were travelling as memory after the cataclysm. Like he be like "Hey sis, i got a gift for you. When she woke up from a *sleep* ( 500 years in slumber ) she realises Aether is not besides her as always and walks to the water, saw her reflection and questioned about the flower in her hair. It's quite rude to assume they're sexist over their headcanon about two video game characters. OP is actually not too far off imo. Aether's defense stat is higher while Lumine's attack stat is higher, hinting to their roles while travelling together. He moves faster which allows him to cover more distance, while Lumine is able to attack quicker, allowing her to go on the offensive. In side by side cutscenes, Aether's reaction is generally a bit more reserved and careful while Lumine is slightly more open and expressive. He sometimes even reacts with a frown while Lumine looks worried.
During the fake Albedo cutscene, you can see Aether staying on his guard with his sword up, while Lumine relaxes almost immediately. In the cutscene where you first meet Jean, you can also see Aether considering the surroundings first (defense; mature and careful, coming up with countermeasures if something goes wrong) while Lumine looks to the people right away (offense; carefree but watchful). You can also see her being pretty expressive in official artworks while Aether looks gentle.
An example of this would be the artwork from "Genshin x 知乎(Zhihu) event "最好的伙伴" - The best partner" where she has a big smile in the photo while Aether is watching over her from behind. Another example would be the Hoyo Fest official art from genshinimpactkr where she also has a big smile while Aether watches over her with a gentle face.
