This engine is fantastic no matter which car it lives in Volvo's, Ford Focus ST & RS. Inline 5 cylinder 20 valves and turbocharged. It sounds fantastic and the torque it delivers is immense. It harks back to the days of the Audi Quattro and it just puts a smile on your face every time you bury the throttle!
T5R's still hold respect today, despite the FWD! But this guys driving skills are something else completely.....This bloke is taking the car to the edge of it's limits!!!!
Car was on KW variant 2. There was certainly room for improvement in that area, but things get expensive very very quickly once you want to go to something more "racy".
Nice ride man! i own a 850 T5 myself, signal red with a rica 280 chip n a miltek exhaust so not quite the beast you have there but, still a blast to drive n would love to go round the ring just for the experiance!

thanks! Sounds like a nice plan, I am using the standard fuel rail, its fine until 450hp or so. The 19T will limit you to about 350, FT will handle it :)

He did seem uneasy with entry speed into the faster corners, just a matter of learning the track :) My volvo no longer has license plates on it :( In Belgium the regulations are really difficult, all mods are illegal....so now its only a track car. No more TF :( But on the Nurburgring they have nice closed trackdays, I'll be there in a few weeks. Much safer than tourist driving with many slow cars.

If the track surface is warm enough, I think the R888's usually work really well even when they have almost no tread left at all. Just have to get a bit of heat into them.

Nice Video :) I'm making sort of a tuned 850 my self and I just wonder if it is necessary to equip the oil sump with oil trap to ensure the oilspupply when you are using R888 driving on the Ring? I also have experienced been overtaken up Bergwerk with something that sounded like a heavily tuned 855T5-R. Due to traffic in AngstKurve (as usual) I managed to follow it for some time but I couldn't help notice that the rear of the car seemed a bit unstable. Have you experienced that?

Ok, definately little too expensive for my purpose.I've got to search for a more or less "cheap" brake system.I fell in love with the R-brakes of the S60R some time ago, i will search if anyone sells a set.You got any any experiences?My destination won't be reaching your performance for sure ;) Best regards and a big compliment for nice driving.
I love how he accelerate out of the corners, most people wait till they almost clear the corner, he start 0.5 sec sooner than most people, compensate for delay between pushing the pedal and engine actually revving up!

Any BBK will do good really, certainly if you add race pads like these. But they also cost a lot. IIRC I paid around 190 eur for a set of these pads. The S60R front calipers don't really fit the 850/x70, needs a very weird adapter to work. Porsche kits or other brembo based will do fine.
In the minute 5:00 when you approach 190/200 km/h you can hear a sound that it's like one of those air attack sirens of WW II, and when in 5:20 you reduce your speed the sound also gets quieter. What part of the car is making that sound? I think in rally cars it's the gear box, but those are highly modified whereas your car is almost stock, right?

Did you ever put a full build thread on up volvo tuning or swedespeed forums? Be interested to know what turbo, boost and cams you were running. Boost comes on really strong
I think there should have been on volvospeed probably... username jcviggen but it's been like a decade obviously so memory is a bit hazy. GT2871R .63 AR with T3 housing and an ATP turbo wastegate onto an S60R manifold.
@1peugeot306 it's all right but ideally on the 15G you want to do around 1.0 bar. This way it won't blow itself to death before it hits 4500rpm and you have more power left at 5500. I use a custom V-band 3" downpipe with a GT2871R turbo (and a V-band wastegate)
Go get a 2.3l turbo. Putting a turbo on the 2.5l could kill it. The bore is bigger, so Material inbetween cylinders is thinner. So they will be more sensitive to heat and maybe won't last long. Just saying. Technically, of course it is possible. But financially it never pays to convert NA to turbo. Just buy a cheap t5 and do some small improvements. Cheaper. Less headache ✌

@SessionR there is no speed limiter, but I have a shorter final ratio in the gearbox which will limit the car to around 270 km/h at 7200rpm in 5th.

@bakaenkaaka no, what you are hearing is the tire sound from R888's they are loud as hell! But the sound is similar :)
