Had to go to Hopewell VA in early Jan drove this route
I been to Montgomery Alabama on I 85 twice. That the state capital of Alabama.
Great Video, Jason ! Watched it 480p no buffering!!! Woo hoo!!! I will finish alt us 90 series another day.
Glad to hear you're back online!
I remember when U.S. 80 used to run right along side I-85 on the current frontage road from Eastern Blvd to Exit 16 and continued on that road toward Tuskegee and Columbus, Ga.
I guess it's cheaper for the state to overlay the US Highways onto the Interstates where they get federal funds to maintain them. They stick the bill for maintenance of the old alignments of the US Highways on the county or city.
I live 2 hrs south of Montgomery, AL in Baldwin County, Alabama near Mobile, Alabama. Atlanta is a 4 hr drive from where I live and I enjoy the drive to Atlanta. Great Video, Enjoyed It.
Been on this road also. Followed my out of date old TomTom gps. Now I can get from Baltimore to Waveland without one.
95 to 85 to 65 to 10?
504RoadTrips I avoid all the D.C. beltway I-95 nonsense lol. I-695 to 70 west. Hop off on 15 south then to 340. Takes me through Harper's Ferry WVa. Exit on to 7 and on to I-81 south. From there to Knoxville and Chattanooga and points south. Use to come down 95 and go through North Carolina and Georgia. Next trip I will try and remember to record it.
Exit 15 may be the spot where I-85 will be relocated in the future given the stack interchange.
Possibly. I can't find any detail about where the diversion would occur.
Can you drive around I 685 when it’s all the way finished it’s the Montgomery outer loop project if you want to research it
Yes, once it's complete, I'm sure we'll make our way up there and get some video of it.
504RoadTrips ok also you do Hwy 90 all the way through the New Orleans Metro (Slidell - Baton Rouge)
Silasthegrea983 . Hwy 90 doesn’t go anywhere close to Baton Rouge, but we have video of it all the way from Mobile Bay to San Antonio.
504RoadTrips oh ok sorry
DETEST the narrow I-85 bridges!
It looks like one of the bridges is in the process of being widened (in the next video I think).
What a great video of interstate 85
From what I understand, I-85 in Montgomery will be relocated and I-685 (?) will be the new number for that section.
Yes, plans are in the works to bring I-85 all the way to I-20 near the Mississippi/Alabama border. The extension was approved back in 2011, but it doesn't look like any actual work has been done. I think it's just on paper.
Good job, 504RoadTrips!!!
Thanks! More to come!
504RoadTrips Cool. What do you have planned next?
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be going all the way up I-85 and then some of I-40, and then the Blue Ridge Parkway. Not sure after that.
Anybody knows what are the cameras on i-85 are used for? Is it speeding cameras?
Is it something you saw in the video? If so, what’s the time stamp?
As far as I know, a local police department can’t legally put any kind of speed camera device on a federal highway. But I’m not sure if that would be the case for state police and I don’t know if any state police departments use speed cameras.
Great video !
Thanks for watching!
Alabama State's football stadium at 1:35 on the right.
I actually took this route to Eufaula.
Heading north or south?
Nice video. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
One question - does ourmusicbox.com's music you are using trigger youtube's content id? I'd be interested in using their music in my videos if it doesn't...
Thanks for watching!
I believe ourmusicbox.com will trigger Content ID if you don't credit them in the description. I had that happen a while back when I forgot to put in a description, but I can't remember if it was ourmusicbox or if it was another free music source. I've used their music in dozens of videos and other than that one incident, I haven't had any issues.
Do you have any videos driving around downtown Mobile or around Mobile Bay?
Look up our US-90 and our US-98 series’. We drove through Mobile in both of those.
Is the control city of I-85 north Atlanta coming out of Montgomery?
Probably so.
@@504RoadTrips I know it becomes Greenville SC after Atlanta GA
