Check out the Bee. Anneke is a guest vocalist on this one. Normally just the male singer. He is great though. Saw them in Toronto with Anneke opening for them so they got to play this live. Was a great moment for sure.

The Bee will show true potential of Tomi's growls, it's deep and you can still understand what he is singing... and there is clean vocals too.

I did too :) at Toronto, what a concert. The floors were shaking of how powerful his vocals were. Awesome concert, just love this band.
@Jouni Kähtävä Oh, another Porian 🤘. Had a ticket but decided to sell it away as I would have went alone (not a big deal) and I'm kinda in the risk group with this Covid s*it. We came to listen a couple of songs by the river though with my wife as it was such a beautiful weather.
But I bet that was a banger of a day as a whole, lot's of good stuff there.

Guys this beautiful lady is Anneke Van Giersbergen, she is not part of Amorphis just collaborating with them. She is the current singer of Vuur, and she was an inspiration for Floor Jansen, and many others vocalist. (should check somehting from The Gathering, her first band)

When I heard this song from radio the first time I actually thought the singer was Johanna Kurkela. They have the same type of tone due to slight overbite.

Amorphis was to be the main support band for the becoming Nightwish tour.
Amorphis are another Finnish treasure box. I was lucky to see them live in January before the lockdown. Tomi Joutsen's growls and his clean vocals are just everything! Maybe check out "The Bee" from the latest album or "Death of a King", two of my favourites.
You know one fact; There is a special rescue team in Northern Finland. They only rescue Finnish metal bands from deep forest in the wintertime when they are doing their music videos, fyi :).
Amorphis "Silver Bride" is a must!!
Another good Finnish metal band. This year they were supposed to have a 30-year anniversary tour ... but ... Now we don't know when they can do that tour. They had a great plan for the Helsinki concert. Three consecutive evenings, one decade of music in each concert.
On this year’s Nightwish European tour in November-December, Amorphis is Nightwish’s support band. But it may be that the tour doesn’t happen in this situation. :(

Great band. Don't get the recognition they deserve. I've been listening to them on and off since the90s. Even I forget about them. But I really need to listen more to the new stuff.
As others have said, the guest vocalist Anneke is very famous actually. She was one of original female fronted symphonic metal singers of the Gathering band. She started when she was a teenager as lead singer and now late 40's and has done many projects. I saw her in LA last year with Amphoris. She also plays guitar. They do have been around over 25 years and the lead singer is known for harsh vocals but his clean voice is great. Listen to song "The Bee". They have come to America many times as also another symphonic metal band you should check out called "Delain"
The Dutch do provide the best synonymic metal singers
Tomi Joutsen is one of the best singers, who handle clean and throut vocals. Amazing singer. Latest album Queen of Time is one of theyr best. Thanks for great reactions🤪.

Both bands even toured together... also in states.
I am so proud of you 2 for reacting to Amorphis. Now if you want something different by them try Black Winter Day from 1994 album Tales from a 1000 lakes. It was the 1st time I heard them and was the song that got me into more extreme vocal styles. The studio version is the best in my opinion with original singer. Tomi, the one you heard is their 3rd singer. Actually, they have a few things in common with Nightwish. They're both from Finland; both on their 3rd singer; both have reached greater success with said singer; and finally both are fuckn AWESOME!!! \m/

It's always trippy for me to see these reactions to Amorphis, since the singer shops for groceries at the same store as my parents, and where I worked at on my first proper summer job.

Amorphis, Nightwish, Sonata Arctica, I can see Finnish metal is living strong on your channel and there is still 3500+ Finnish metal bands to be covered! Wintersun, Beast in Black, Sentenced, Stratovarius, Children of Bodom, Battle Beast, Diablo, Charon, Ensiferum, Apocalyptica, Lordi, Turisas, Insomnium, I could make an endless list. Amorphis has been touring in North America btw. Last year they made 28 gigs in Canada and USA together with Delain.

Been a big fan of Amorphis since there '94 LP "Tales From The Thousand Lakes". 26 years late they continue to put out killer music. If you liked Anneke van Giersbergen, the guest female vocalist on this particular track, she has worked with a number of musicians including Devin Townsend, Ayreon, and November's Doom to name a few. She was the vocalist of The Gathering for a number of years, and she also has her own projects, The Gentle Storm and VUUR.
Another bunch of Finnish sweethearts. These guys are so awesome. Anneke is a next level singer. She has done vocals for Ayreon a music project you guys should check out.
She have worked also with Devin Townsend

Amorphis is awesome... Tomi Joutsen, the lead singer, is amazing. the 2018 live at Hellfest video floating around here somewhere shows the full set, and you can see his transition from clean to growl and back in real time. I love it SO. Much.

Yaaay, Amorphis! My Monday morning just got better 😃. Its not a typical song of theirs though, suggest to check out The Bee (have you ever heard a metal song about bees?!). Tomi's vocals are amazing!

I first saw Amorphis 1994 in legendary Lepakko. They have amazing songs different to this and same kinda stuff too.

they started off as a melo-death band (same as Sentenced) back in the mid 90’s but changed their direction into more ‘gothic/doom rock/metal’..among one of the pioneers (at least that i’ve known) in the ‘gothic metal/rock’ scenes alongside Sentenced,Tiamat,Paradise Lost,The Gathering,My Dying Bride,Theatre Of Tragedy,To/Die/For etc..at that time ‘gothic’ were slowly became a ‘thing’ in the extreme metal scene.
As previously mention you need to check out the younger Anneke with The Gathering doing Strange Machines live at Grasspop '96 (Remastered). As for Amorphis, there's so much good stuff but my personal fave is "My Kantelle" (live 1,000 lakes live version) :)

You said Amorphis could do well in the US. Well they have already. Example the record where this track was came #72 in USA Top 200 Billboard, #10 in US Hard and #28 US Rock in year 2018.

also check out bad blood one of my personal favorite's a really cool song and also black winter day just for the tone, it's really special :) and that is the thing with this band, every album has special surprises with differrent tones and vocals you can't really predict the band's songs it always has something new. Alot of bands stick with the same style like Volbeat for example, not saying they are bad but it really is predictable how the songs are. Amorphis now exsist 30 years and will be touring if corona allows

holy crap, when did Amorphis become ...what would you call this ...melodic, symphonic death metal? They used to be just straight death metal with a hint of speed. Not complaining just asking.
