- Imagine a Roblox with a realistic physics engine, with a world with incredible graphics and a compelling story. It would be great..... and it could... happen.
Kind of like how, say... Flash could be used to create some relatively impressive 2D sidescrollers, but people often had an undeservedly low opinion of the engine for the simple fact that it made game development sooooooo easy. This led to everyone giving it a try and we ended up with a bunch of basic, often abandoned games floating around out there from people just getting their feet wet.

Great video, I like content creators who don't skip things like roblox because on tiktok or yt shorts there are videos where you see roblox as a "game" where you do something stupid and it's supposed to be funny (like the one at the end of the video). Keep it up.
I've been playing Roblox since 2015, it's what got me into gaming as a whole, I still play it to this day and I still talk to many close friends that I met on Roblox. I'm glad that the devs are putting in the work to modernize the game engine with new features and upgrades, as projects like these were never a possibility 3-5 years ago.

I have a i7-2600 and a GTX 1070. I struggle to run games like Bad Business at 60fps, with the graphics slider lowered down to 3 bars, which is ridiculous considering that's a low-poly shooter. Frontlines? Pfft, I'm lucky if I'm able to get above 40 even when I'm at the lowest graphics setting possible. Using a performance overlay shows that Roblox only utilizes 30%-40% of my CPU/GPU.
I can tell the devs are trying their hardest to improve things, they've recently pushed out a 64bit client with a built-in anticheat, and are working on an actually decent moderation system compared to the current one which is laughably ineffective, but the client is still so poorly optimized that it's difficult as a developer to make a game that not only utilizes all these features, but also runs well.
Amongst other things, Roblox needs to put alot more work into their engine before devs consider using it rather then something like Unreal engine, where you can make breathtaking experiences that run amazingly.
An i7-2600 is a bit of a bottleneck with the GTX 1070, try upgrading something like to i5-9400f which is a bit old but yeah it'll fix the bottleneck. And yes, we have no other choices other than to accept that roblox is getting tad bit laggier every years. Graphics are upgrading and so is the need of CPU power and GPU power.

I love this whole thing, but I feel like I’d hate to be a dev making a serious game on here because it’s 100% centralized. Unreal can’t take your game down, but Roblox has total control over everything. The only benefit I can see is that they provide all the servers and audience

After seeing my 6 year old.. 6 years ago okay for a couple of years… it’s amazing Roblox is a public company and gotten away with so much copyright infringement and dodgy stuff 😂… People don’t realize it but Robbllx is like the early internet, a Wild West, but that will all go away when they start going nextget-Roblox and real serious games are being developed on it and Roblox is seriously running the equivalent of AAA games on it. They’ll have to clamp down on it.
The point is there’s an opportunity now for indie devs that they get to do a lot of stuff that might not be around in the future.

Few of the many who are capable of making shit to an industry standard want to touch roblox for multiple reasons. While the engine may often be limiting and finnicky to work with, these types of games aren't rare because they're extremely hard to make, it's because your average roblox dev, even many among the top earning, is incompetent compared to the broader group of game devs.

i do like these games, but i think roblox could do better
first of all, i like the realistic graphics, its faster to make good graphics now, roblox did a good job with keeping most post proccessing effects easy to use, the only hard part is making your own pbr textures
but there are still issues with the game engine
roblox is still extremely limited, lights can have a max range of 60, which is pathetic
there was volumetric lights, but they were removed because they were apparently a bug
roblox runs like shit, sure, games like operation harsh doorstop run on basically the same fps and still look similar, but sometimes the optimization is just so bad
roblox doesnt have really good physics, constraints seem to explode very often which is why more newer games just use raycast suspension
the wifi/network/physics speed is slow (things are really delayed, if you were to place 2 cars ontop of eachother with different network ownerships they will either fling or fall)
they dont give us enough control with most features, things like cubemap reflections are done automatically (you cannot manually make cubemap reflections, the reflections only appear indoors, reflections are usually placed where you dont want them
we dont get much control over how the physics work other than constraints, impulse, custom physical properties and collision groups)
now for the stuff that arent related with roblox studio
they have recently made user generated hats, layered clothing and rthro, which was definitely the worse choice yet as it lead to really inapropriate avatars
the community is filled with players trying to make inapropriate avatars, alot of furries and a few pedophiles
there are many other things they need to improve, roblox is still a good game engine, they just need to give us more freedom with the game engine

As someone who uses VR quite regularly, and often on Roblox, Ares VR seems a bit fake to me. I don't trust the devs that what they've shown is something functional or even possible in vr. Why? Well, the only VR stuff that exists right now on Roblox is well.. VR hands, games with a basic VR mod and opposer. In fact, Opposer is probably the most high quality vr game on Roblox right now. So jumping from that to Ares seems a bit big.
