- Learn how to create an Entity Relationship Diagram in this tutorial. We provide a basic overview of ERDs and then gives step-by-step training on how to make an ER diagram with correct cardinality.
Entity Relationship Diagrams are comprised of 3 main categories: entities, attributes, and relationships. Entities are objects or concepts that are associated with important data-like a customer, order, or product. Attributes represent properties or traits of an entity, such as a customer’s phone number or home address. Relationships demonstrate the link between entities.
Another main aspect of of ERD's is cardinality, which further defines the relationship between entities in a numerical way. Certain symbols signify the minimum and maximum relationship between different entities.

This tutorial is fantastic! Made much more sense than my college instructor!
I am recommending this video to my students, because i find it useful and easy to understand. Big Thumbs up and Regards from Pakistan.
Present sir
I love tutorials with beautiful illustrations and animations. This content is high quality!
This channel is always the best for learning diagrams. Thank you a lot
Thank You for your time in putting this together… it’s very helpful 👌🏽
the min and max concept to apply some relationship between entity really help to understand, thanks
Super simple and easy. Thanks !
Thank you so much! Interesting and clear!
thank you so much for this amazing video. its easy to understand and cleared my confusion regarding how to think
Amazing and interesting, the explanation and introduction of cardinality.
Thank you very much for this clear and concise tutorial. It helped a lot.😊
You make it easier than my teacher did, thank you
I REALLY loved this one!!! Thank you SOOOO much
nice and clear explain to understand of ERDs
Thank you Bear! your explanation was so clear for me as a freshly entered to this field. will definitely try the app soon!
It is easier than I thought, thanks!
That was an excellent explanation, Good one!
Thank you so much, I learned a lot from this!
Excellent explanation, thank you
This has been explained to me 3 different times in 3 different ways, but today I still had the question come to mind, "wait, what's an ERD? ohhh.... right, that thing."
Bear, thanks to your explanation, I believe I'm now a guy who gets what an ERD is.
Wooooooo. Another lucidchart vid. I don’t even care that it isn’t animal related. You’re too iconic to not be enjoyed. Have a day as amazing as you’re content and I hope you get your old viewers back.
Wow thank you!!! I just graduated from Udacity but couldn't understand the ER Diagram completely.
this was very helpful. just followed and subscribed.
Wow, thank you :) YOU are amazing. I love Lucid Chart, sooooo cool.
This video solves my confused. Thanks
This guy is the GOAT
nice and clear explain to understand of ERDs
thanks
absolutely marvelous. literally wow
what an awesome video. Simple and crisp
This was great! Thank you
This is great! Thanks!!
Omggg Bear!! That's such a cute and cuddly name! I love it
Thank you very much for such understandable tutorial! I wish my lecturer in university could understand this in such way...
Hope so😂
thank you for this great tutorial
Hope you explain component diagram, we would be so grateful ❤
Thanks these are the best...
thank you man you helped me a lot
Great video!
Awasome! Thank you
Better than my database instruction manual
Awesome!
Thank you
Hi. Can I use Lucid website to design entities and other diagrams and show them on my Tutorials? I create Fullstack tutorials
3:38 if a customer has zero orders then he seizes being a customer or how does this work
Hello and thank you for this great video. For the cardinality of the relationship between customers and orders, you say that a customer can have zero or many orders, and you use the corresponding sign (a zero followed by a crow's foot). However, would it not be more correct to say that a customer can have zero, one, or many orders? Is there a sign for that? Or does the zero/crow's foot sign encompass one order, and the cardinality signs only encompass minimum and maximum? If the latter is true, then it would be more correct to say that a customer can have between zero and many orders. Thanks!
Zero or many takes care of zero, one, or many.
tysm easier to understand than my teacher tech me
what if the minimum is more than 1?
thanks
How much for an autograph from the guy who does the sneks videos
dope video
Hi, can we create an ER diagram for a simple snake game created using Java? Or is the ER diagram applicable only for Database? Please suggest.
So a Product can only be sold once, we is there a quantity?
Hello, is it possible to use AI to create the diagram if all I give is the table and the details of the attributes?
I tried using Mermaid AI with GPT's assistance, but I am unable to see the database diagram-basically an ER diagram with columns and different types of key definitions there
You have to use logic and make sure relationships are correct. AI can only help explain to certain level.
But My table shows that the fifth table connects 4 tables to the column
I was like: wow just that??? Alright. Homework done
thankyou man im from nepal
me to
Anyone explain how a product comes without any orders and many orders for same product
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Good
What's the difference between 1 and 1 and only 1?
1 and only 1 means it will always be one. 1 to 1 is the relationship between two entities.
what is the difference between "one" and "one and only one"
I wonder that too
Thank you you beautiful man i could kiss you right now for making this so simple
How can a product have no order now where is it going😢
00:04 Learning about Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs)
00:50 ERDs provide a visual way to understand how information is related.
01:35 Entities are objects tracked in the database.
02:19 Entities and attributes have relationships defining interactions.
03:10 Understanding relationship and cardinality between customer and order.
03:51 ERD notation for minimum and maximum relationships
04:40 Understanding relationship cardinality in ER diagrams
05:26 Export ERD directly to database using Lucidchart
There's no relationship between you product and order tables with the attributes you've listed.
@@moy3804 the order table has no product id. That and the relationship is wrong. it is a one to many relationship. Please don't try to learn database design from this company.
i noticed it too, i thought you could only connect it if there's a foreign key which could be the product_id
He would need a junction table between Order and Product “OrderProduct”. They didn’t want to go this deep I guess
@@siddy2456 IMO it's not that deep, and makes it easier to understand
He talked about the primary and foreign keys in the part two of it
I WANT MORE CAUTION RAMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Number of customers, not amount. Customer is a countable noun.
So so
i think bro like crocs
I am just trying to learn to make ERD's, I don't care for your lame attempts at jokes or cheap and out-of-place cultural references
