  • Its been 2 years and a thousand hours of flying since I purchased and completed the Review of the DC One-X headset and compared it to the Bose headset. I thought it was time for an update to my review.
This is a headset I have been very happy with and it has met all of my expectations. It has seriously improved the enjoyment I get while flying while also reducing fatigue due to noise and weight. A reliable and comfortable headset that I would highly recommended.
If you have not yet seen my video reviewing the DC ONE-X and comparing it to the Bose A20 check it out here:

I also have an unboxing video of the DC ONE-X you can watch here:

I was in the market for an ANR headset and watched many reviews including this. Saying this, thanks for the insightful review!
Reasons I went with the DC One X were many positive reviews highlighting the comfort, form factor, sound, and the build quality. So I tried the DC One x and I am very satisfied. I live in Europe, so the DC One X at 1100€ is not cheap, but compared to 1450€ Bose, I am very satisfied. It feels like everyone has either A20/30s or passive headsets over here. So I am now the special snowflake. Though anyone was very interested in my One X and were quite intrigued by the small form factor and the comfort.

No CGI here. I can barely make the video's to begin with! It was a nice smooth air morning though.

Thanks very much for the update. I've watched both your videos on this headset and, of all the people reviewing headsets on the internet, I think you've given the best. It's partly due to the facts you can speak to with authority but also because you've had it for a long while and still love what it does. I'm now convinced that the One-X is the ANR headset for me. Subbed!

In my last 5 years of purchasing 3 DC headsets, each one has required repairs. The backlog and extended processing time in the warranty department raises concerns about the durability of DC headsets. Considering these challenges, I encourage others to explore alternative brands for a more reliable experience.

How would you say the comfort level is? I’m stuck between the one x’s and the a30s and comfort is my main concern.

Have my PPL and working towards Instrument rating and CPL eventually, should I get this or go with a budget friendly PNR DC H10-13.4 headset?

I would strongly suggest getting the active noise cancellation. Your ears will thank you. You will have less headaches after long lifts and ATC audio is much easier to hear and understand.

@@fastbackflying853 Thank you appreciate it, going with the DC ONE-x. My only concern is if you can hear the RPM changes and stall warnings with an ANR clearly?

Any experience with the Lightspeed Zulu 3’s vs the DCs? I’ve narrowed it down to the two.

No I have a few sets of old Zulu headsets. I found them to be very comfortable to wear with good noise cancelling. Unfortunately they don't seem to be as robust and the electronics seem to have issues and they quickly don't provide support for older units.

@@fastbackflying853thank you. I ended up buying the DC One-X. Your video was among the most helpful when making the decision. I love them so far!

I got the zulu 3 and am not impressed. It hurts where my jaw and ear meet, and there is an annoying echo. Going to return them and try these.

Sorry to hear the Zulu 3's are not working for you. I think you will be very happy with the DC.
I have a number of Zulu headsets and unfortunately they all stopped working and are not repairable!
