I am old enough to have grown up with these. They didn't ruin my life or make me a bad person, but man, there were some super gross characters. Barf and boogers are one thing, but there were some super gory cards. They werent for kids. If my kids had these, I don't think I would take them away, but I think I'd rather they play Mortal Kombat than have these.
I'm still collecting GPK when I see them. My 4½ year old daughter just found all my Chrome GPK doubles and now she loves them in laughs at them and has her own collecting folder now, AWESOME!! I was 4½ when they first came out and I'd walk to the mini mart and buy a few packs, they were 25 cents a pack I remember. I'm stoked that my daughter finds them amusing!! This would be a great game to have in the collection.
I'm glad to see stuff like this coming out. I really liked Garbage Pail Kids growing up and this would have been a great game to have back in the day. I'm glad its available now digitally.

These graphics are impressive. Almost looks like SNES.
I remember the Cabbage Patch riots of Christmas 83. I was 4 years old and all hell was breaking loose trying to get one. Oddly enough just a few months later the clearance isle at the local Hills Department Store was flooded with them.
Even in the 80s the cards with gun was so stale it would turn to hard rock gum dust it was worth it for the cards.

Looking back, it was a pretty unfortunate name, but they were cool toys.

Loved those muscle figures back in the 80s. The GameCube muscle game is pretty awesome. Still play it from time to time.

I don't like ending up in these types of videos, because this thing about judge old games by today's standards, "proceeds to acknowledge it's an old game and it have it's own standards" but STILL analyze it with today's standards that just end up sounding the game is bad and people trying to say it is not bad.
Just preordered the physical copy. Probably keep it sealed and download a digital version. Its funny I literally JUST came across this game today, and coincidentally I started collecting GPK cards again a year or so ago. This physical copy will go nice with the collection.

Can someone tell me why every video about the 80s has that space grid background with palm trees and ship, I was around in the 80s and never seen this kind of art then. Is it battle zone meets outrun?
I have no clue, its just a motion background available on my editing software and its the only one that doesnt look extremely stupid and out of place, not chosen for an 80's aesthetic just that its the best looking one I can easily use.
Jus turned ps4 on today and I got the 1.02 update for this game. Offers a "updated version". Can't find any info online about it but about to play. Wish me luck lol

I remember collecting the cards and i once had a garbage pail kids board game. You'd roll the dice and if your character landed on a certain square you'd have to have a belching Contest to decide who gets the next roll. It was gross and parents hated it but that's garbage pail kids for ya! 😉

Oh yeah got a couple for Christmas in 86/87 I think. Awesome era for toys for sure. Still got a couple binders of garbage pail kids,teenage mutant ninja turtles figures and all my game systems from the 80s/90s.. Got a house,land and full time job but still a 42 year old kid hahaha

Can you use the Rom from the steam version to play on a everdrive n8 like some steam versions can?
I dont know how to extract the rom. I kind of looked a bit at the steam files but wasnt seeing anything but packages im not sure how to get access to. Maybe there is a way but its beyond me at the moment. I tried digging into it a bit before uploading this, like certain file extensions and how to access the contents but couldnt find anything. Maybe someone will figure it out.
Steam\steamapps\common\ "game name" then should be in that folder somewhere.

If we can get the rom I'll definitely buy it to play on my NES. The close to $100 shipped for the cart is a hard sell. $65-$70 shipped I'd be all over it.
@@MajesticSDime Yeah I know the location, but there is nothing in there I am able to dig through unless someone has more info on how to extract from this stuff, but all thats in the folder is assets.pie, gpk.exe and steam_api64.dll

I think they nailed it-10 bucks for 2 hours of stupid, gross, nostalgic, easy fun. Fits the franchise well. I wasn't expecting something on the level of Final Fantasy 3 from this IP.
I always found the premise for the franchise deeply disturbing. I believe, "Garbage Pail Kids" is referencing the fact that new born babies are sometimes found discarded in dumpsters by women who did not want them. Hell of a thing to joke about and market towards children. Probably why the franchise got so much push back.

I used to love GPK as a kid. When I found out they made a few new runs maybe 3-4 years ago I was disappointed to see what I loved about the series was sanitized by Politically Correct wokeness.

Been play video games 39yrs This game is truly useless! People are paying for the license and for some sort of strange nostalgia! Blind bought it like a schmuck waste of $10 it’s actually worse then any Licensed game i played back in the 1980’s the one thing it does captures perfectly is that good old 1980’s American greed! (There was no effort put into this dumpster they payed a premium for the License and put minimum work into the finished product, all it’s missing is the NES seal of quality!
