  • Old Man Mountain racks are strong. These aren't your average commuter racks. They're up to the task of carrying some serious gear and the new Elkhorn rack is no exception.
    Find out what I like and dislike about this svelte and extremely versatile rack.

    The possibility to mount it to the axle is compelling. If I didn't already own a Tumbleweed rack and had a Jack front rack on the way I would probably get one of these, especially since I had a fork eyelet fail in the past.

    3pack mounts on the uprights is such a cool little feature. I can't believe more racks don't do this.

    Great System, especially when using the through axles from the Robert Axle Project!

    hey @TheBikeSauce , do you know if this rack can be mounted on the "lowrider" fork mounts on a Specialized Diverge? Trying to find a way to make this rack work on the front without springing for the axle fit kit.

    with those pucks and the axle moount, this might be a legit solution to suspension fork packing

      It totally is. There are sample configurations on the website that show it front and rear

    Hi when your say axle mount is stronger than eyelets do you mean eyelets have higher chance of failure like breaking? Or carrying weight abilities?

    I have considered buying for Old Man Mountain, for a Giant TCR with no rack mounts, but I couldn't afford it.. and I was also worried by how these perform when removing wheels (axle mounted ones, of course). Would having a flat be cumbersome with the rack mounted on?

      @TheBikeSauce  Před rokem

      Yea pretty much any axle mounted rack is kind of a pain. Run tubeless and it’s not a common occurrence

      I have done a fair amount of bikepacking even before switching to tubeless. I found out in most instances I don't even have to take out the wheel when having a puncture. I try to locate the puncture, lay the bike on the side and then pull out the tube as much as I need to patch it. As long as I can locate the puncture (I inflate the tire and put my ear next to it while slowly turning) or the puncture is not close to the valve this method worked really well for me.

    Their stuff is built like a tank, and costs as much... and it appears your review has crashed their website 🙂 Thanks!

    I prefer paying $148 for made in the USA than a $50 china version. Have already one OMM rack for my fatbike, quality and strength is unmatched. It will probably outlast my bike and that is what quality products should do.

      For now I think they only have the divide rack available domestically manufactured. Others are made in Taiwan, but not 100% sure

    It will not fit any bike. It won't fit a fat tire bike.
