If the victims own parents claim that she was being coerced to convert, does religion come into the case then?

That's not what the parents said. They said they themselves were against the boy and forbade the girl from meeting him. She only went back to college to give exams.

@@xr4572 Them being from different religious communities was the reason the parents of the girl were against the boy. Read their statement. Religion, not religious conversion. The reason she was murdered was because the guy was a psychopath and she was refusing to meet him. He didn't kill because she refused to convert.

Later he walked back on it after talking to Siddaramiah which doesn’t count as the words to get religious angle involved have already been spoken!!
