- The Madison Gulf Trail is the hardest route up to Mount Madison in the White Mountain’s Northern Presidential Range. This Trail is on the Terrifying 25 List and very well may be one of my favorite hiking trails in New Hampshire!

Tips for people just getting into hiking:
LNT - leave no trace. Meaning if you carry it in then carry it out and if you do see trash on trail try to carry it out as well to help keep these mountains beautiful and clean.
Do The Rock Hop - The Alpine vegetation is very rare and very fragile so when you’re on the summit of these mountains please only walk on bare rocks to avoid killing the vegetation!

This is the second video of yours I've watched. Great stuff!
This one is on my bucket list along with the Great Gully Trail in King Ravine. I love the wild lightly maintained nature of these trails. I know O said this before but it is so refreshing to see these VLOGs highlighting these trails and have the videos done in a way that is not painful and dizzying to watch! Never lose that enthusiasm! I love it! Moss! Ferns! Elves! Fairies 🧚♂️ Enjoying the heck out of these videos!
Hi Brian and Brittany, thank you, AWESOME 👊 stay safe, be well my friends 👍✌
Ahhh, killing it again, Bri! So listen to this...me and my older pals were on Katahdin one week ago, a handful of people there...I looked out over the Knife's Edge and I said to my pals, "yo, Brian hikes all day would document that!" And a nearby girl says, "I follow him!". Just thought ya should know, us old ones love that you film so we can REALLY get an idea of what to expect...! Great job!
Hahahaha Love it. Believe it or not I did Katahdin via knife edge and I didn’t even bring my camera to Maine. Brittany had just broken up with me and I just wanted nothing to do with filming for that Maine vacation.
@@BrianHikesAllDay how come I am not surprised you did it?! I couldn't talk them into it, but I vowed next year to do it. We got up at 3am to get at that gate! Its so cool. Sorry about the break up...I have been thru too many...but I l9ve your spirit and smile...im old (but in my head I am still 14!)do I can say that!
I finished the Northeast 115 last summer. I’m only main shy of finishing my winter 115 as well. I’m gonna take a vacation this winter to be a winter 115 finisher in Maine on katahdin. I finished my summer on Katahdin and I want to finish my winter on Katahdin
Sadly, a 20 year old kud from PA died on this exact trail 2 weeks ago. It took the rescuers all night to bring him down. You have to be in amazing shape to tackle some trails and know what you're getting into.
I love the excitement you show on the wild and crazy trails! Reminds me of the time I took the Chemin de Dames trail up out of King Ravine. When I popped out onto the Airline trail there a couple of guys there and I was like, “OMG! That’s such a great trail!…Blah blah blah… “they looked at me like I had 3 heads… I couldn’t help it 😂
Hahaha
I don't think that you did the whole Madison Gulf trail. There's the bottom section where the Great Gulf trail intersects. T25 requires one does the whole trail.
Perhaps reflecting a New England/Puritan penchant for pain over pleasure, the AMC takes a perverse pride in laying out trails that are as challenging as possible. Most other ranges wouldn’t place trails where AMC does. They were obviously made for you, though. Glad you enjoyed it.
Absolutely love love love the hardest trails possible!!
Bonkers!!! Great videos.
Thanks so much Bucky
As always a well shot video. Looks like you started at the Great Gulf parking lot. Did you do the beginning of the Madison Gulf trail too at a different time?
Awesome video!
Thanks man!
@@BrianHikesAllDay no problem!
This was definitely in my top five favorite trails in the Northeast!
@@BrianHikesAllDay looks great! We would love to go hiking out there one day and make some videos
Pretty knarly trail 😬. Looked like you had fun and more enjoyable watching with fewer commercials 👍
What do you mean watching with fewer commercials?
@@BrianHikesAllDay Hey hope all is well. This video only had a commercial/ad at about the halfway point. The Catskill 9 video had a commercial/ad about every 3-4 minutes.
What the hell lol
@@BrianHikesAllDay That's what I said 🤣. I watch a lot of CZcams content during my morning stretching/yoga and elliptical workout...so to keep stopping to click skip is annoying 🤪
I probably made $.10 off your viewing then
That was gnarly! Definitely steeper than the way I went when I did the traverse, lol. We’ll be back up there to snag the Wildcats to Rattle River in Sep...watched your vid for that section. This was definitely a super cool vid!
What a great hike!! That is about as hard as the presidential traverse!
Did you have to climb up that waterfall wall or you went around?
Don't think I've ever seen you so happy. Lol
I’m always so happy hiking but when I’m doing 1000 feet of elevation gain in .3 I’m even more happy for sure
What about staying on the trail when in an alpine zone?? I would not have a problem with this if it was winter and snow covered but on bear ground this is a big no in my book.
Don’t worry, I would never attempt this if there wasn’t rock everywhere to jump from. There was no Alpine vegetation stepped on. I’m very diligent about protecting the Alpine zone. It would never step on the fragile Alpine vegetation. Do the rock hop they say.
Hey so I just did the King's ravine trail on Adams and I was pretty thouroughly terrified, but made it up. Would you say this trail is steeper and harder than king's ravine? I'm thinking about doing this one but it looks really scary and looks like id get some pretty bad vertigo here.
This one’s felt way easier than king ravine
@@BrianHikesAllDay Cool i'll put this one on the list then, thanks for the help
@@BrianHikesAllDay easier? it didnt look easier! king ravine was tough but sections of this trail looked entreily relentless...and fun.
Did you feel like you had enough juice after this to summit Adams?
I had plenty of juice. I trail ran out and then did the ice gultch after and then met up with some friends to the Moosalaki for sunset
@@BrianHikesAllDay Excellent. These are set for #47 & 48 for me, and I'd like to bang them out on the same go, while going up an exciting trail for the big finish. Cheers.
Mount Adams is very close. 1 foot in front of the other and you’ll eventually get it done. If you don’t have a car for a traverse you may have to double back and go over Madison again depending on where you park but it’s not terrible
Did you go on the auto road get to the mt madison
Bushwhacking or rockwhacking?
Whatever you’re doing if it’s not on trail it’s a whacking.. if you’re climbing a slide it’s called a slab whack. Climbing a drainage it’s called a drainage whack, in the forest or spruce a Bush Whack. Although these are just my terms. I once cut across the center median on the highway(the No U turn sign) and I called it a road whack. Lol
Stop with the Gnarllllyyyyy!!!! Yikes
Like and subscribe 😂
You didn't start at the beginning of Madison Gulf so it doesn't count. Also, I do this with my dog. And filming while climbing is unsafe - look ma, no hands! Lastly, there is a trail from the hut that goes up. You aren't supposed to "bushwack" above treeline to avoid damaging fragile vegetation.
I’m an advocate for protecting the alpine vegetation. Trust me nothing was stepped on except 100% rock.
