Vito is such a tough guy to wrestle since his style is so unique. He can basically control when to be passive or agressive and you never rlly know what hes gonna do because hes so quick. All of his fakes were identical to the set up of when he actually tried to finish, hes so unpredictable. Props to the Freshman wrestling someone like Vito, just shows how much college wrestling experience matters
he’s lengthy as hell too which doesn’t help his opponents 😭🤣
Experience certainly helps, but in this case, it's just innane.
I BELIEVE he's beaten RBY, Fix and Lee at some point. Definitely the first 2, and I believe he beat Lee in Freestyle(also lost to him).
Vito hasn't gotten much better because he came in so good. I had him winning it last year(and he certainly could have...that was a weird scramble with Glory). He could win it this year...even if he's not the favorite, and he'll likely be the underdog next year...assuming all eligible Wrestlers return. I'm kind rooting for Dix to be a 5x runner up, but I also feel for the poor fucker...World Silver, 3X NCAA runner up, it's brutal.
@@scourge8097I don’t think he’s ever beaten Lee in freestyle… he’s beaten Nick Suriano, RBY, Yianni, etc in freestyle he has also lost to everyone I just named besides RBY. I don’t recall him ever taking a match away from Spencer Lee but I’ll try and find it.
@@xzjayz7925 Yeah, I don't think he beat Lee. I was wrong about that. I do think he's passed Lee up though. We'll see what happens this year. I think he knocks off Gilman, I don't think Zane can repeat.
But Lee's getting that gas tank back with more time under his belt. Should be a fun weight...I hate that so many studs stay home because we have ...break dancing now, but only 6 Oly weights. Go back to 10 already.
The director only switched cameras to the bench when there was action in the mat. And he ALWAYS switched to the bench when there was action! 😂
Everyone has the NCAA final as Fix vs RBY again, but don't count out Vito, and Latona....gonna be fun to watch.
I'm a Cornellian and a Vito fan, but I was impressed by Mendez. Watch him as he gains college experience.
Mendez is a freshman by grade only but has the wrestling experience of a college junior..Today these kids travel and compete against the best all year ...There easiest matches are when representing there high schools
Right...and if all the kids are doing that, then the whole curve changes. If all these kids are traveling...and most D1 recruits we look at are, then it's still the experience of a College Freshman.
It's important to not just focus on the Nat tournaments. There's a kid we went after in Cali, Estrada...hasn't had a lot of success on the National level just because he hasn't competed a lot, but he's Wrestled in 2 State Tournaments and he's won 2. In Cali. The toughest State Tournament to win. Had the #1,2 and 3 ranked kid(plus #10 and #13) in his weight class most of the season until two went back up to 152. But he was unranked and went through a brutal bracket pretty much dominating until he got to the finals where he Wrestled another Badgers recruit Laird Root...who's ranked ~10th and best him.
You're likely comparing it to when you Wrestled...but as you say, they're all doing it.
Ergo, experience of a Freshmen, not a Sr.

Riding Fix compared to riding a freshman,are two different to even compare! Dont recall ever seeing Fix getting rode! Not a knock on Vito neither! Vito finishes top 5,but don't see him in the finals! Mendez gonna be the real deal! I look for some upsets at BIG? tournament! Mendez will move on to nationals,but imo top 5 conference tourney!

Terrible camera work at the end of the first period! Cmon man
This event wasn't good. It had bad production/camera work, an inaccurate scoreboard, questionable audio, and not to mention half of the teams didn't show up. We were robbed of good matchups. Hopefully next time flo can produce a better event
Camera man needs to be fired
Commentators mic needs to be checked or he just needs to flat out speak up. Sounded like he was commenting on a golf match
