This was great. You triggered a positive thought process with everyone viewing. As a nurse my main concern would be the length of time it would take for help to get to you if someone experienced a heart attack or have chest pain. I would place aspirin 81mg in the first aid kit and encourage the members of the family to learn CPR. The internet has classes anyone can observe and practice. Great information, lovely lady. You did it again.

Agree the new CPR is doable for the layperson.

Ms. Denise you make everything look so nice and special. We have emergency backpacks. Depending on how much you can carry. Please include walkie talkies, heavy duty gloves, protection even if the hubby has to have it. Heavy duty cord, and matches or lighter. Oh and a whistle. Love your videos xoxoxo

Those are excellent ideas. As far as protection...just as some other items...good idea to check on the supply periodically to assure the shelf life or any damage to them

Kitty litter for your noodle/bucket potty, just enough to cover the waste (odors). Try to find folding hand fans, or even ping pong paddles, esp if anyone's going thru the change - unless you have many battery-fans lol. And so much Off, for when the neighbor kids run out at their house haha.
Also, don't forget to bring livestock food in the house. The winds blew our bungeed trash can down, and nasty flood water got in our rabbit food. Took a few hours of door-to-door begging to find a few days worth of carrots.

Great hurricane coverage Denise. I am an RV camper, so my portable toilet is in my pick up at all times, even when I am not camping. I hate public restrooms. I am well prepared such as you are...mainly because of my Mother. She was an extraordinarily, amazing woman who raised us to be self sufficient, and well prepared for everything. Organization is key. And you nailed it yet again. I believe you covered everything. Namaste my friend.

I think of baby wipes to cleanse yourself since the water heaters won't be working without power.
You could also get drain covers to fill any tubs beforehand

I have always heard to have on cash on hand in case of a hurricane. I live in In Marion Iowa, right outside of Cedar Rapids, a city of around 132,000 people. We have tornadoes, not hurricanes.
You may have heard, our area was hit by a derecho, an inland hurricane. Our area sustained 140 mph winds.
There were approx. 400,000 people where the derecho hit without power. Ours was out for 8 days, other surrounding areas for longer. We had planned to leave town the next day to move my mother in law. My husband planned to gas up our vehicle on the way out of town. With no power, there are no working gas pumps, no ATM’s, no banks were open. Our grocery store ran on a generator. We also lost cell towers, so no phones at all. Thank goodness for our gas stove and water heater. We could eat and shower.
We had not purchased many groceries as we were leaving town. We emptied the refrigerator and freezer. We invited our neighbors over for breakfast as they had no way to cook. Another wonderful neighbor gave us cash and 4 gallons of gas. We were able to drive an hour north where they had not been hit by the storm, gassed up and drove to Minneapolis.
My point is....no matter where you live, ALWAYS have cash in hand, you never know if you and everyone around will be hit by a storm and all your power is out.
God bless the power line people, they were cheered, brought water, sandwiches, cookies, you name it. We were so appreciative of those men and women!!!

Brillant ideas!! Agree with your genius idea for an instant toilet!!! Consider adding wrapped and sealed packages with clean shoes/flip-flops; package of fresh undies, socks and soft rolled tee-shirts. After Katrina - I was on a discussion group and a number of ladies mentioned how difficult it was to find clean shoes, undies and a tee-shirt after dealing with muddy, stinky, messy water! Also, consider adding a strong plastic bin with a small strong axe, whistles, flash lights and batteries and a large white sheet (to signal for help!) and a couple of packages of tarps and heavy-duty tape to keep in an attic space -- if anyone needs to get up and break through/onto the roof of their house!!

What I pack in my first aid kit is splints or compression band. I had a ankle injury in the past so I have an air cast for it. Just incase I need it I have it. Since it’s already compromised the likelihood of injuring it again during an emergency is high.
