- This was fun! Mode sent me out some more Sonnet parts to fool around with and we came up with this! I have to admit, I really like this unit! I'm still sold more so on the green unit for the sound sound on that is more up my alley but it was really fun making a new build with one switches I don't always use for myself! Plus this one looks AMAZING with the keycap set we choose.

Man after watching you i realised how different mechanical Keyboards can be. I got my first Kit today and built it together with all of your tricks. Seems way easier just to watch you, but after a while it was pretty fun.
I wish we would have also ANSI Layout here in Europe. Its kinda difficult to find ISO PCB's and Keycaps ~~
First Keyboard Kit was kbd67 lite r4 kit with enjoypbt keycaps and WS Aurora Clear Switches :)
Gorgeous build, the multicolor bar matched the keycaps perfectly!
I ordered a silver top with PC bottom, brass weight, brushed black accent, and alu half plate a little over a month ago now. Can't wait until it gets in.
I finished my own sonnet build today, Super happy :) daily driver for the next couple years best keb of 2022 hands down (for me obviously)

You will have to buy it aftermarket or wait for another run. It was a limited group-buy (as with most GMK sets).
Ordered with an FR4 plate when I was in my FR4 phase and now I’m back to thinking Alu plates are just the most balanced for daily use, time to wait 2 months for shipping 😂

Should I buy a sonnet or a QK75? My current board is an idobao id80 so either will be a huge upgrade
I would go for the Sonnet because it is permanently in stock now, but the QK75 is very cost efficient. Since the QK75 GB is over, I suggest looking into the JRIS75 as well.
@@JesusXina ended up going with a QK75. Was interested in the JRIS as well but heard some slightly concerning things about the 65 GB so I went with QK. A pretty basic sonnet was going to cost around $600 CAD, and I spent half that on the QK with an extra plate. If I'm not happy with the QK I'll probably end up with a sonnet anyways
I also wonder how much of the character of the sound is coming from the PC bottom and weight as well... esp for a top mount like this.
I think it would still sound pretty great without the PE foam. Seems like POM is pretty good if you're worried about stiff/harsh bottom out on a top mount.

I don't know man. With the QK75 upcoming, sonnet is already overpriced. Take into account tax and shipping, sonnet easily cost double that of qk75, but offers no notable advantage.
Sonnet's machining is way more sophisticated.
@@subho1766 I can see the curve, but qk75 has PVD weight and internal weight...if you choose all those selections, the price is more than double. Not to mention qk also has a knob too. Includes carry case and likely also owlslab stabs as well.
Beyond that, do you think sonnet will sound better? Nah, qk75 will sound better.
@@IronCan88 For me, personally, Mode boards will always be better than QK lineup. QK is a budget-tier lineup, whereas Mode boards are always more premium. Why premium? The finish, the machining, even the PCB quality are impeccable. Also the amount of customization that Mode offers is next to none.
@@subho1766 not sure if you've ever purchased a qk65 before. That board was flawless for me. And the options from r2 is even more extensive than the mode sonnet. I have not purchased the sonnet so can only comment on the fact. The sound being weak on the sonnet was only from a couple CZcams videos I saw.
