So clever & hilarious even after all these years!
This stands up amazingly well 40 years later
You would expect some elements to have dated after 40 years but time really hasn't been kind to this program with its three Oxbridge progressives railing against the establishment from the safety of the leafy ghetto that is the BBC a la the Pythons, who were cut from the same Savile Row cloth but have at least stood the test of time. That said, the cast did go on to do work that has endued but they must look back on this as cringe-worthy juvenalia.
@@exitthelemming145otally agree. The altered images pastiche is total garbage and surely wasn't funny back in 1981... and as for standing up 'amazingly well'…get real!
@@exitthelemming145 you're talking wank mate.
Dissing NTNON but grudgingly accepting MP because you can't deny python was good.
Got a beef with clever Oxbridge types have we?
Got a fking chip on ya shoulder cos ya not that clever obviously and ya just jealous you never amounted to much
OMG you are such a hypocrite critisising Not the Nine O'clock News for railing against the establishment from the safety of the leafy ghetto of the BBC when you are railing against Not the Nine O'clock News from the safety of your leafy ghetto of your CZcams anonimity online.
What do you even mean- that Oxbridge graduates who work for the BBC are not allowed to criticise the establishment?
Jesus, you need to THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU'RE ACTUALLY SAYING
And that happy crappy grogan
song was spot on
@@jasonedwards6870Altered Images were utter 5h1te if you look at their output
Sad to think we'll never see brilliant comedy like this in the UK again.
Wow! If only the BBC had the same courage today!
Great to see these again ! 😁
Brillant big laugh... sadtime for Mel Smith Rest in peace.
Thank you for uploading !! 👍👍
[14:05] I totally forgot we had a Sir Peter Parker back then. That was no end of amusement. Also, Pamela Stephenson always did such amazing newsreader impersonations. I think this one is Jan Leeming, it certainly sounds like her.
The Tomorrow's World skit was dead on!
My goodness, I remember the wireless telephone ringer from the original broadcast. It is so clever and seems to capture numerous ‘inventions’ where the whole problem doesn’t seem to have been thought through
Like the internet.
The Russian 4x4 in the background is actually a Swedish military Volvo TP21. 😂
So funny😅.
This is edgy funny stuff.. and in parts ...very clever ..I'm 33...and find this really good ..some names in the cast that went on to big things ..❤
Birth of Mr Bean @14.41

Bout 3 minutes of unstoppable laughter and crying for me. Idk why it's so funny to me.
Because its good and better than white with got now.
Doesn't Mel Smith look like Bob Mortimer in the game For A Laugh sketch!
Monty Python or somebody else did the one at 11:45. British Railways train station Tannoy announcer. I saw it coming.
I like piss take they did of Game For Laugh that was on then.
Little John Alford...
Surely it was only 120 years ago ?
1:21 Johnny English prequel.
2:21 I don't get that.
7:08 You can see the audience.

Is this the room for Beginners' Italian?
This was a good program, but the reason why it did even better, was so much of everything on the TV back then was so utterly Boring!
People forget in February 1982 when this episode first aired, there was only three TV channels in Britain. Channel 4 wouldn't launch until November of 1982.
I remember it being aired, it was genuinely hilarious, ground breaking stuff. 🙂👍
Did I ever laugh at this, ever??
Great! I’m the first one to make the predictable and wearisome comment about the “woke lefty BBC” not making anything funny anymore “coz it’s too PC”.
For contractual reasons, every clip of old comedy on YT has to have such a comment.
Brilliant 😅 Hate those comments they make no sense
#problemofevil
Every thing was fair game and laughing at attitudes and society was just brilliant who would think in 2023 it would be impossible to make comedy like this due to wokeisim and hurt feelings
And we used to laugh at this?
Lots of us still do.
Better than any of the shite we have on TV now.
Well we did, you obviously didn't.
What would you have us laugh at now?
