Moments like these make me feel Captain Janeway does really exist in this reality! Kate Mulgrew never imagined her character would trascend tv screen into the real world.. I can feel the emotion of this moment and feel proud to be a member of this big Star Trek family... To me Star Trek Voyager was the best of them all... Most important: it took a great woman to make this everlasting dream come true.
In a weird way maybe she does. Maybe one of the lost family names of Janeway is, in fact, Mulgrew. So Janeway IS Janeway. Not true for all things, but occasionally, when history is predicted centuries in advance by fiction, the actress/actor gets to live a future life a little early. Mulgrew might in fact reincarnate to be the Janeway we know and love, albeit it with a different name. That’d be fitting and why there’s a statue of a captain centuries before she was ever born.
If you think of it logically she does exist but just isn’t an actual person but a character lol
On the actual date of Janeway's birthday, May 20, 2336, a baby girl NEEDS to be named Kathryn Janeway.
Without Voyager I would have never fell into the Star Trek world
*would have never fallen
Same! i love voyager!
Dragon Age was what introduced her to me and then I gave Voyager a chance because of that and i'm glad I did
Its was The Next Generation for me...
You were born to late dude 🙄🙄🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂
She is so well spoken and thoughtful. I am so happy Janeway means as much to her as she does to us 🥰
Remember:
1.Keep your shirt tucked in.
2. Go down with the ship. And....
3.....never abandon a member of your crew.🖖
What an honor for Kate Mulgrew. The Great Captain Katherine Janeway of the starship Voyager!!
She's Admiral Kathryn Janeway
I'm afraid to say how much I love the Voyager series and admire Kate Mulgrew.
CAPTAIN JANEWAY: "I knoooow."
Kathryn Janeway doesn't have to fear fear itself. Fear itself fears her.
Shes an awesome person i was on the voyager set took a photo sitting in her captains chair, she walked up behind me and said thats my seat i turned around and she smiled took a photo with me talked with me for a few minutes shes an awesome person.
You're so lucky to have experienced such an interaction.
She just IS Janeway! This makes me cry every time I watch it! She and Voyager are the reason I'm alive today! She means more to me than she'll ever know!
I was there. She was very generous with her time. There was a Q & A afterwards at another location.
Janeway is my favourite Captain.
Kate did a great job.
So far away from Sector 001 and managed to lead with values.
The contrast with the Equinox was a great 2-part episode.
Yes. She definitely shouldn't have been court martialed upon returning to Earth. /s
She is incredible in every way! Her voice, her passion, showing her emotion!!! An amazing Capital Janeway ❤🙂🙌
Kate is a great off-the-cuff speaker. I've never been disappointed in any convention, interview or dedication like this, unscripted.
Kate .. you epitome great direct leadership in Women. Bravo on BEING YOURSELF!
This makes me so happy. As a young in the closet trans girl, I looked up to and almost idolized Captain Janeway. She inspired me to never give up even in the face of certain failure. Thank you Bloomington for giving Kate and all her fans this statue ❤️
Captain Janeway was and is my captain. I've followed other captains too but her approach and collectiveness was very cool. Her gentle, yet stern commands makes her a captain you'd follow without questioning.
Could anyone have been more gracious than Kate?!
WHAT A GREAT LADY...explains why she was great in her films and as Janeway!! thank you KATE for all the wonderful experience f
That officer breaking the temporal prime directive in the background though.
There was a Goan off camera. I knew Indiana University had a good out reach to foreign students, but wow! LOL!
She should be assimilated for that. Just flagrantly wearing her uniform 300 years in the past. Just not giving af . That’s not how Starfleet rolls.
I wish I had been there, but so glad she could make it out there. Yes she's an actress, everyone has to work but I think she would agree that taking on the role of Captain Janeway really changed her life. So much inspiration, so dedicated and that's the spirit of what Star Trek can do... bring people together! Incredible is the right word 🖖
I meet Mrs Mulgrew at Babelsbetg Film Parc in Potsdam at German Comicon.Great Pesonality, very kind, normal person.
Kate Mulgrew was beside herself!
Too clever
She seems a very gracious pleasant and genuine lady
The more I see of Kate Mulgrew the more I like her. Voyager was, after a couple of shaky seasons, pure Star Trek. My only wish was that the crew felt more tasked, more ragged, after 3, 4, 5 years in the Delta Quadrant. Year of Hell should have been a season long arc! All the best to Kate.
Now it's time for Voyager Blu Rays.
It can't happen. Voyager was filmed on tape unlike TNG which used film. It will always be 480p.
@@thoyle4504 Not necessarily. Paramount could remaster it as it was filmed on 35mm, but the visual effects were created on tape so, as with TNG, all the VFX would have to be recreated. Though. with Paramount + being the new home of Star Trek and no longer a need to rely on physical blu ray sales to recoup the cost, it could be possible to remaster Voyager and DS9 to help bring in new subscribers.
@@thoyle4504 sadly since the TNG remasters were a failure and made no money there wont be anymore remasters. Even though they could crowd fund this in ten minutes.
I think the most likely way this is going to happen is some time in the future with AI. Not upscaling, but getting a team to feed in all the original film into a computer and then getting AI to find the correct shots based off the TV edit to rebuild the footage. Compositing and CGI will be tougher challenges, but again future AI could take care of this by recreating 3D models based off all the footage.
Basically, starting the same way TNG did feeding all the film in, but then letting a computer do all the work of editing and recompositing, rather than a large number of expensive resources. The biggest problem for the studio is cost, and they're only going to do it if they make money out of it. This does rather mean it'll be years away, but I have no doubt it will happen eventually, as long as the original masters aren't lost.
@@PhillipParr Well Amazon's ready to sell lmao. Always.
She sounds like a Hollywood golden age actor from the 30&40s. Her voice is Devine.
Kate Mulgrew, you are the best. Love you.
Fantastic personality, and trully inspiring TV character. Captain Janeway is a great leadership role model. Live long and prosper 🖖
Well. I'm going to have to drive over and check this out, on the list ✅ Love it, wish i knew about this gathering at the time. 👏🏻What a great, touching gesture from the fans.
Saw a random comment on Instagram about this and what a lovely video! She’s amazing!
I totally love Kate Mulgrew Captain Janeway is my favourite Starfleet Captain
Mine too I was captivated by her work on the Dragon Age series back in 2009 that was my introduction
@@Dancestar1981 Ok Cool
That's actually a very nice sculpture and a top-rate platform with the Voyager-themed font of letters. Whoever that person is who wore the uniform -- please go get meaningful work with purpose
Thank you!
Voyager was my star trek show i watched from Start to finish 😁👍
Katie was such a great Captain
I loved hard core older Admiral Janeway….Kate seems a great sport & genuinely appreciative.
If it wasn’t for this woman I would not be standing here today. As a young trans girl , who had attempted suicide twice , and failed , Watching Voyager gave me hope that I could be accepted for who I am , and not abused or hated, Voyager taught me to accept everyone and everything on this planet. 🌍 thank you Kate for saving my life 😊
I couldn't have imagine a better casting choice for Voyager's skipper than "Kate Mulgrew", hard to think that it almost never happened ....
You would think as a video tech guy there with a professional that captain headset there could've managed to stay out of someone else's shot... shame, it was a great angle too...
Never Forget Tuvix.
I had the privilege of going to the monument's original unveiling. So disjointed I missed her visit years later ❤
Looks like the evil shoulder spider was on vacation with Harry this day! ;)
kate should be in the picard series.
They keep name dropping her and so we can only hope!
@@shockvoz1234 after picard i think a janeway seriers would have been more RDM:bsg-75 then the season 1 time 3 we got with picard
Something started to happen to me… I felt an overwhelming urge to drink black coffee…. There is coffee in that nebula.😊
When she mentioned London, I met her and we had a photo taken together at the Star Trek con at London Excel in 2020.
3:25 Janeway transports everyone in Bloomington, IN to Bloomington, IL.
Love Voyger
thank you captain mum
We want star trek janeway....!
We want star trek janeway....!
We want star trek janeway....!
Watch Star Trek Prodigy then.
I was there when they unveiled the statue!
In Illinois?
@@martymcfly3253 Bloomington, Indiana. Home of the Indiana University HOOSIERS!
@@ILOVETHEWHAMMY No shit. Point being she said ILLINOIS.. how the fuck does she not know which state she is standing in? The state that is honoring her and her character? Jesus.. how vapid.
I think you very much for sharing this wonderful Captain Janeway moment.
💪💙💜❤️💫🖖🫶
There's coffee in that nebula.
There's a big difference between Bloomington IL and Bloomington IN. Kate Mulgrew said Bloomington IL the Title of this Video says Bloomington Indiana.
we love you Kate 🥰🤩💌❤
Janeway was the best!
I love Kate Mulgrew, Voyager and Captain Janeway. I love the idea of the statue - unfortunately, that looks nothing like her.
Aye Captain.
My favorite Captain along with Patrick Stewart. Isn't Prodigy really good? It's like a Voyager series almost!
I love Kate I've watched the videos of the other actress doing the part but i can't imagine anyone being Janeway they may reboot the series someday but no one will ever replace her.
I grew up on the original series. Didn't get into next gen much because I considered Picard a pussy but Voyager was my Trek. I wish they could have had their own movie.
Was pecan pie served in the evening?
Poor crazy Kes...
obviously the camera has no manual focus
Do it!
there's coffee in the Bloomington
Is this the closest anyone will get to how it looked in the series when she came back to Indiana?
Saudações , 💖 Love vídeo ⚓🔧🇧🇷🖖.
Hair should have had the Janeway Bun instead but I still like this!🙃
It's a tribute to the Bun of Steel that Janeway only wore it for a couple of seasons (she had a ponytail in S3 and shoulder length afterward), but it's still associated with her. The Janeway hologram in "Prodigy" wears it, too.
That bun always reminded me of Wilma Flintstone!
@@moveuself hihihi
WOW WHO can tell me the FULL NAME of thr sculptor?? I dlove to see more pf his work !! I want to makes.culptires like him lr at least visual art more paintingd and drawing and maybe a little bit of sculpture but i have never done anything like that and the one time i tried ans rook a ceramics class it was terrible :( WHY
Of course she's from Bloomington... Illinois?
Bloomington, Indiana
@@ashesofghosts I know. I live near Bloomington. She got it wrong in her speech.
There is a bloomington IL, nice for everyone to ignore that
Oh, good lord. I love Voyager. It may not be my #1 Trek, but I watched it as it came out, and I've watched it through more than once since.
I am in Bloomington, IN regularly, and have seen the statue. I have been in Bloomington, IL, too. I visit shops in Champaign from time to time, and it's just past there.
I just thought it chuckle-worthy that she got the city that she was being honored in wrong - not something horribly offensive, just a chuckle and a wink. Like when a musician calls out "Man, I'm happy to be back in Detroit!" while in Cincinnati.
In other words, it was a *joke*.
Now where are the Archer statues in Upstate New York, Kirk statue in IOWA, Sisko in LA, and Picard in France?
I think there is a Kirk Statue in Iowa, also Sisko was from New Orleans not Los Angeles.
@@gregbadioli_915 LA=Louisiaina
The Kirk statue in Iowa is a thing; it inspired this one. But YES, LaBarre and New Orleans need their statues as well. Not sure about Archer, since he never picked a hometown.
@@oddish4352 Then we put the Archer statue in the State Capitol at the capitol lol...
Now they need one in New Orleans for Sisko. I doubt you'll ever see one in France for Picard
Last month, Sirroc Lofton announced that 22 May 2023 will be the first official annual ‘The Sisko Day’!

later is now
Janeway statue.. lol.. why?
Gul Dukat is not amused.
That guy who keeps standing in front of the camera is on my nerves. Because of him, Janeway isn't in focus.
MOVE ALREADY!
Janeway needs a court martial, not a statue! Pull it down! #JusticeForTuvix
Hahahah love this comment
Agreed. Actually hate her character because of that episode.
@@JakXLT if she had kept Tuvix she would've killed two people soooo yeah. I have no problem with her choice.
Wow.. she doesn't even know what state she is in.
I see that single obedience muzzle on the heavy set Karen. That's how we'll know this video actually took place in 2022.
She got Covid ……. And went to London …….
Who cares
@@omensoffate
WHO would care 😂😂😂
not creepy at all.
Dude's shoulder was extremely in focus and annoying. Great video otherwise. Thanks.
Funny how in the Star Trek world women are slim and healthy… Too bad the inspiration didn’t reach the fans…
