Every drummer has their own unique sound. Otto sound and style are so unique you can immediately tell its him. The beat is so tight and the snare so crisp.
One thing about LB after being in the game for 22+ years, they don't let up. They have all stayed true to their musical talents and still put on the same explosive performances as if it were still 1999. John Otto is an absolute beat monster that can melt your face off with his crispy tight licks. And don't get me started on how beautiful his snare sounds. Can't ever top a super vented OCDP snare. What a badass group of guys. My favorite show that they ever did was during the 1998 family values tour in New Orleans right before they busted their nut all over the map with their Significant Other release. Just watch Woodstock 99. Fred Durst will always be fred durst love him or hate him but you cannot deny the size of his middle finger when there's push back.
and thats the difference between real and fake numetal bands. limp bizkit, snot, system of a down, korn, coal chamber etc lived and loved the numetal life. they made it, they ruled it. it wasnt an act or a trend for them. you can see all the vids from the late 90s and feel that family vibe. linkin park and the other fake ass bands who changed over the years can suck it. I understand change is good and natural but you cant feel the same energy that the real numetal bands got
Seriously. Got into LB/wes borland recently and i think ive seen every wes video on the internet. I sit through as much concert footage as i can for maximum wes exposure
Otto is great... In Europe they play for 20 000 - 50 000 festivals. Up to 5000 people in their own shows - in the US it is a 500 seater barn bar. Many bands have this same formula
I love that John Otto is like The Propaganda Hell Yeah!!! Although correct me if im wrong when they recorded The Unquestionable Truth Pt 1 John Otto wasn't around and they had some drummer Sammy Siegler fill in around that time. So my question is on that album is John Otto on it at all?
Ok, I’d thought my titanous and old age were playing tricks on me (WOULD SOMEONE ANSWER THAT DAMN PHONE ALREADY!!!) Ok sorry, I’m back. At around the 45 second mark someone finally caught on camera, 1. A bandmate that acknowledges “how much effort the drummer exerts” almost as to say us cavemen bashing logs with sticks may be actually slightly more important than that. And that is saying that… 2. We are not the sloped headed mouth-breathing mo-mo’s the band lets hang around with out of pitty, but actually skilled musicians who can do a stress test marathon for 3+ hours , sing harmony’s, as well as play any bells, whistles, chimes, keyboards etc and still be considered the energetic, rowdy nut jobs well after the bus hits the road. John Otto, lock that groove in and take us to the Mathews Bridge.👍

Internal drum mic’s .. niiiice
Surprising that John chose one of the rare songs that he didn't actually write/play on.
I think he plays it a little fast off the top but once the chorus hits it feels in time somehow
I thought Otto wrote the parts but just didn't perform them
what a nice fukkin riff and groove
Otto is great...

John Otto really plays as simple possible.
