Not me. That's a hard pass. The figures look great and all, and I love the way they designed the samurai armor. But I'm not a fan of the 3rd movie nor the design of the turtles. I'm happy with my 1990 movie figures I got from GameStop a while back.

I’m actually convinced that the alternate angry heads aren’t even for these figures. I’m pretty sure they’re for the tmnt 1 figures since it looks like they seem to be emulating the stuck head positions for like when they were doing non-animatronic head action scenes.
You're 100% correct. Yet NECA made the baffling choice to paint the bandanas in TMNT II/III colors and include the long TMNT III bandana tails with them... Such weird decisions all around with those heads.
They're definitely first movie sculpts, most of which are for expressions from the final fight with Shredder.
But the bandanas are SotO / III colours and length. 🤷♂️
My thought is that not only can they be used on the other turtles, but have the TMNT III colors because it’s a “what if…” scenario.
“What if we had the TMNT 1990 masks on the third movie?” Kinda deal.
Maybe this heads are for people who likes more the tmnt 1 head sculpts, so the body doesn’t matter, change the head and you have the tmnt 1 versión in samurai costume.
There's one robe with special cutouts for Leo's swords. Also @pixel-dan, the Ooze comparison turtles look like they're KO. I remember the Ooze turtles have a darker under-shell.
I think he has the 1990 accessory heads on the SOTO bodies or extra 1990 bodies.
Those angry expressions are from the first film. It's cool NECA was able to include them.
It makes me think they may do an ultimate release of the first turtles with all the face expressions they have released.
Similar to what they are going to do with the cartoon turtles.
Those extra heads are the fighting heads they used from the first movie apparently (or I believe that's what Trevor said in one of the interviews?). Which is why they're all angry lookin' and frozen in weird expressions.
15:00 The middle figures actually aren’t SOTO figures- they’re just the turtles from the first movie with their alt head sculpts from the acessory pack. Cool to see the comparison either way!

I’m surprised no one mentioned that Leo has a unique coat to go over his sword sheath! Though I’m not done watching yet, haha.
Also oops! I think you posed two versions of the TMNT 1990 heads during the comparison time lol.
I have a soft spot for TMNT 3. I loved the concept of them traveling to feudal Japan as I am a fan of actual samurai history and films. And the time scepter is a direct pull from the original Mirage comics (issue 8) right down to the design, which a lot of people don't know if they didn't read the old comics. Other than the unfortunate goofiness, the biggest crime in my book is not tying the stuff in Japan to the history of the Foot Clan. In the theater I expected that to happen. I assumed the rebels would end up forming the original Foot Clan when the female rebel and the samurai "prince" got together. They even named the little kid Yoshi, so he could have been a member of the Hamato family and an ancestor of Hamato Yoshi, Splinter's master. It could have been a great story to have the turtles realize they were helping to form the Foot Clan and it would nicely circle back to the first film. It also would have been cool to introduce Usagi Yojimbo, maybe as a tease at the end with him coming to NYC via the scepter.
I have a hard time with swapping the alternate heads onto the tmnt 1 figures. The peg in the head always comes out with the head and its such a pain to put back or swap. Have you or anyone else ever have this head peg problem?
This was one of my favorite of the 3 movies....mainly cause they had Samurai armor on....ahahaha. These figs look dope!
Well, I finally got the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III action figures (the Walmart figure 2-pack release) and as much as I love them myself, I would've preferred giving the head sculpts slightly shortened bandana tails, the samurai helmets an elastic band to slip inder the chin, softer fabric for the cloaks, and give one of the cloaks for the Donatello figure a slit hole in the back for one of the ends of the bo staff to go through it.
However, the back of the red belt is loose enough for the bo staff to slip through it.
I could make the slit hole for the cloak myself, but I wouldn't know the exact spot to put it.
If I could just figure out where to put the slit hole in the right spot of the cloak without messing it up, I would do it.
I just find it odd why the person who worked on the figures didn't put the slit hole on one of the close for the Donatello figure.
And I also would've preferred giving each figure the same dragon mask with either the dark-brown or light-brown mustache and goatee.
It just makes sense to give the figures the same dragon mask since they all have the same samurai outfit.
I hope NECA will also have action figures of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles made to look like how they had appeared in the third film without the samurai outfits and if they do, they should include the aged time scepter with the Leonardo and Michelangelo figure 2-pack and the makeshift time scepter with the Donatello and Raphael figure 2-pack, and if they also release a third film accessory set, they should include head sculpts with different face expressions, the old lamp for Michelangelo, the old radio for Donatello, the book on Japanese swords for Leonardo and the fedora hat for Raphael that April got for them at a flea merket as well as the shorts that Michelangelo had worn before he switched places with one of Lord Norinaga's Honor Guards.
Which reminds me...
I would've preferred pirate-style swords in the third film accessory set instead.
9:32 Interesting that NECA provided alt head sculpts with their TMNT 4 pack, which they’ve never done in past TMNT 4 packs. MORE interesting that the sculpts are from the first movie, not the third (rooftop scene of the first movie when they all rush shredder together).
I think NECA is playing a little marketing game knowing that this set won’t sell as well as the other 4 packs. By including alt head sculpts from the first and most coveted movie, it entices TMNT fans who aren’t fans of the third movie to pick up the set for the first movie alt head sculpts. Sneaky, NECA… 😄
Awesome review but I have to point out when you did the comparison time it’s two move one turtle sets you showed you didn’t put tmnt secret of the ooze to compare. I was hoping for it

The figures do look like the movie puppets. Now it was a bad movie, so was the Sercret of the Ooze, but they're both A LOT better than the bay-turtles.

I have the McFarlane Roach Season 2 horse figure. Not sure if I want to get 3 more. Hoping McFarlane at least makes a brown version of Roach from Season 1.
Well at least all four of the Third Movie Neca suits are the same color like the movie while the original 90s figures were different from the movie except the original third movie Mike figure had the same color suit only. I wonder if they'll make Movie 3 Splinter.
The first ones are still the best. The Samurai turtles figures are bit more limited articulation in range.
@Pixel-dan: I agree that despite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III being the weakest of the three 1990's live action movies, it did give us some great action figures. Got a vintage TMNT III Raphael a while back and it is an amazing looking action figure.
Tmnt lll figs are the best to date imo
I've always had a bit of a love/hate relatonship when it comes to Neca. I've had 5 Pacific Rim figures fall apart right out of the box, and lots of people have discussed the Predator problems, but what I can't deny is the sculpted artistry. I collected a lot of these movie Turtles because they simply look amazing, and are the only true accurate versions we'll probably ever see, and to Neca's credit they've held up very, very well for me so far. The sheer work they've put into the sculpting and accuracy of the LOOK is beyond belief on all the TMNT figures, and I have to give them full props for that. Won't be picking these up myself but they are incredible to look at.

As a Turtle megafan....I will not be buying these. BUT that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the detail and effort they put into these, especially being the least-loved cinematic incarnation of the characters. The alternate Movie 1 heads though are a nice touch.

Edit: It looks like the Mythic Legions horses looks like the best option for scale and resemblance for the TMNT. I am sorry to say that it will cost a bit.
You can get away with the McFarlane horse.

I love the movie!!! I don't care that objectively it isn't a good movie, I like it and that's all that's important to me. Unlike some people, I can acknowledge that my like of a movie doesn't make it a good movie.

T3 is one of the most quotable movies out there, along side Episode 1
No way near as good as turtles 1 or 2, of course not.
But it's enjoyable. which you can't say of those bay turtles, or what ever Disney has done afterwards with star wars.
Man I been waiting for neca to continue making the tmnt movie 1/4 quarter scale
So those alternate heads are actually [unprecedented] 3rd heads for the Movie 1 Turtles. An interesting inclusion, for sure. They look cool, although they have those mile-long bandana ends on them. This is a cool set, with a lot of esoteric value, but I opted to let these go. I'm officially stopping at Movie 2. Of course, as they've recently announced, NECA will be giving the Movie 3 Turtles a 2-Pack run in Wal-Mart, but they'll be lacking a lot of the accessories from this VHS Box (notably the new Movie 1 heads and 2 of the Time Scepters). What really really sucks is that the one and only Scepter that will be included across those 2-Packs isn't even one of the real ones out of the 3 - it's going to be the crude extra one they made with the help of the village blacksmith that they promptly lose by dropping it down a well. That's kind of a bad oversight on NECA's part. You can't get one of the ACTUAL Time Scepters unless you were fortunate enough to get this VHS Box.
These do look great, but I might wait for a possible retail release & the same goes for pizza delivery boy Keno.
I'm still on the hunt for TMNT II Leonardo & Raphael 2-pack.
I wonder if NECA will make the turtles in their basic (belts, pads & wraps) appearances from TMNT III as well.
I'm willing to bet Playmates will re-release the Movie III samurai turtles in the future, if the molds weren't lost or destroyed & maybe even do 6 inch Classic style ones as well.
If these do get a retail release...
It'll probably months (or even years) before I can get them.

Believe the heads are from the original movie. The sculpts are meant to mimic their faces when they battled Shredder on the roof top final battle.

As I've gotten older, I've found that I prefer this movie over SOTO, but I have nostalgia for that one, too. Nothing tops the first movie, though. These are great figures, BTW. I'm glad I got them.

Keno, Shredder’s new duds, the Professor, “a little too Raph,” Vanilla Ice, etc. But the movie is hard for me to watch these days, lol. I don’t think the sum of its parts is as good as the individual parts, if that makes sense. I didn’t like III as a kid, but revisited it a few years ago (and again this past week since getting my figures) and I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. I give TMNT III a lot of credit for being bonkers. I love bonkers. Plus, they brought Casey back, even if it’s in a weird way.
But the masks were really awful, there’s no denying that LOL

I got them but I'm unfortunately being ghosted by NECA. It says it was delivered but only Keno was in the shipper box. I've sent 3 emails and gotten no response 😢
I had a similar issue where my tracking info indicated the box set and my Greta were shipped together but I only got Greta. I emailed them and they got back to me the next day to apologize for the confusion and they let me know they are shipping the TMNT sets separately right now. I even got a new tracking number for the set. So I wouldn't worry. Are you sure you have the right email for their customer service?

Hey Dan, one of the robes has slits in it specifically to fit Leos sheaths so you don't have to do that bunched up thing you did in the review.

Honestly, I think these look more toyetic than the others, the less realistic masks and goofier expressions work well for action figures.
Now, would I get these over the first movie figures, no, but still these work fine for figures.

How come that in the comparison shot, the turtles on the left are bulkier than the turtles in the middle? Those are both movie 1 figures! Can someone please enlighten me? Those figures are supposed to be the same, yet one is stockier and broader than the other.

Didn't know these were a thing. Honestly don't need them and can't justify paying reseller prices or import/shipping and exchange rate on these. If I come across the set at retail or through a trade fine but not rushing to buy.

The main reason I didnt like this movie as a kid was because of no Shredder. This movie has grown on me and these figs look amazing! Still waiting on the Professor from secret of the Ooze figures first though.

This set absolutely fantastic! I was happy that NECA didn't try to get $200 for this as the figures are really detailed. TMNT III is probably the worst of the 90s movies (the OG 1990 one being perfect).
I actually just watched it this past weekend - it's fun, weird, awful. I also forgot that "Tarzan Boy" was played during the movie.

I just started getting into seeing what's new for TMNT after seeing the recent movie based figures at Target. Now I'm a bit sad that I've missed the boat on the movie figures, just saw the ebay prices...whoah. Looks like I came in a couple years too late.

I'm gonna say underrated movie and better-than-expected figures. I thought they would be far more hindered due to the sculpts, but they move surprisingly well. And, these are the first NECA turtles I didn't have to boil to get moving safely. I'm really happy with them!
